White House's Mixed Messages On "Public Option"

“Reconciliation, 51 votes, Ron Wyden (D) Oregon and Maria Cantwell (D) Washington will vote with the party and the President for a bill with a public option if it comes down to a vote. Arlen Specter will vote with the Dems, he's facing a primary. Who else needs our attention?”

“This is how it often goes, other media outlets then report on vauge generalities they draw from articles on AP or the WSJ and literally create a generic form of negative spin and misinformation. The corporate media is doing a great diservice to it's patrons when it operates with an underlying agenda, activly skewing the debate as they are now and have done on so many other occasions.”

“I guess the Bilderbergers told Obama in Virginia last year that all reform and recovery efforts must be geared first and foremost to ensure the ill gotten gains of the top 0.01 %. The major media networks would not cover one word of what the President said at the town hall in Grand Junction yesterday, instead recycling images of right wing fanatics from earlier in the week. The MSM is working hard against reform, NBC, CBS, CNN, have completely carpetbagged the whole thing, inventing the story that health care reform is hemorrhaging much needed support. The citizens are are all still here and we all still support reform. How bogus this whole thing has been.
The shill Dems in congress have been provided cover by the media to shank our right to health care right in the lower back.”

“Short term as in right now, the summer job hunting season? Life in America is pay check to pay check for many. Short term relief is what people need until a more stable economic climate offers better job opportunities. I could have gone out to alot of restaurants and shows with the extra $$. Restaurants and small businesses need the customers they usually serve this time of year to keep from laying everyone off or going broke. They need to make their money now to carry them through the rest of the year. To float consumer spending in this climate is to throw these businesses a life preserver.”

“Also, If the Stimulus bill had included the $400.00 ($500.00) stimulus checks that the President and his allies had wanted, this would have been a big boost to the economy over the last 3 months. Again this is why the R epukes worked so hard to strip this provision from the bill. So that we would see no relief in the short term and the presidents critics could lay blame on the failure of the Presidents Stimulus bill. The blue dog centrists, as with so many issues key to our interests( aid for states ) worked along side their ideological cousins, the R epubs, to undermine the purpose of the Stimulus, to offer relief in the short term and to invest in solutions for the long term. http://www .nytimes.c om/2009/02 /09/opinio n/09krugma n.html?_r= 3

“This is why the party of gross obstructionism has been holding up many of the Presidents nominees. To keep new policies from being implemented for long enough to blame the failed Bush policies on the new administration. This is why they ALL fought to keep Al Franken out of the Senate. A tactic to delay the progressive/reform agenda from moving forward.
On another note the bank bailouts and the lack of transparency have hurt the President. The interests of Wall St. are NOT the interests of the working class. The extent to which the banks have been coddled with more or less zero accountability makes us all sick.”

The DLC corporate blue dogs and every one from the Repuke camp are fully engaged in the effort to kill health care as a right and not an opportunity for the priviledged insiders in the Insurance industry to profit from overpriced, inadequate, micro-managed, medicine.
All the blogs are littered with concern trolls and phoney puppets. Get real socks !
Misinformation campaigns and the standard noise/silence/drug commercials from the corporate media. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has declared war against the Obama administation's reform agenda.
Exact same thing is happening with energy policy reform and brave global warming legislation. The bad guys and their lobbyists are fully engaged. This is a war against reform and against the best interests of the working class and all future generations. Even the priviledged.”

Not so fast with the facile predictions about possible Israeli attacks on Iran, Slick. I will guarantee you that if Iran sinks into political unrest and instability, the U.S. and Israel will simply allow that to happen, and maybe stoke the opposition quietly and effectively.

Conrad To Health Care Reformers: You Don't Have A Vote
Commented Jun 10, 2009 at 21:13:47 in Politics
“Well obviously it is on him, at this time and in a huge way, to hold the corporate line. The profiteers of the American health care system are gravely concerned that their allies in congress are too weakened right now to hold back the huge shift in access to affordable health care and how it is paid for.
It is the task of Sen. Landrieu, Sen. Nelson, Sen. Baucus, and the rest of the shill figures to use every political ploy they can muster to deny us what we all deserve and already pay for. Kent Conrad, Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson are all really hard at work for the bad guys as of late. The Republicans are in full red alert mode. They are quite disgusting.
We need to organize a national campaign with MoveOn and others to oust these politicians from their seats in Washington by way of nation wide grass roots funded primary challenges. Some of these seats are attainable.”

“Illigal immigration is the very biggest threat there is to the working class. Legaliziation for 12(25+) million illegal immigrants will destroy blue collar America. If the money party Dems push this legislation, than I for one am going to work my heart out to see these sell out individuals defeated and disgraced, and I am as passionate about the Democrats being in the majority as anyone can be. I have no choice but to work against any amnesty effort, no less the travesty that corporate America wants. Being from Colorado before moving west, I have struggled for years with the disfunctional economic climate cheap undocumented labor has created. If illegal workers are allowed to flood in here on this scale and take all the jobs for diminished wages than I for one will be ruined. As my industry will no doubt be swamped.
This is fact. The DREAM act is a terrible piece of legislation, a total sell out.”

“(What is 'the Dream Act'? What a stupid name.)
You have supported Obama, and what he stands (stood) for. What you should understand is the history of the Mexican/California border. Mexicans and Spanish used to own California. There was and is an enormous cross-pollination of cultures here in California (and in Arizona and Texas). Streets and cities are named for impossible-to-count Mexicans who owned land here. Why shouldn't Mexicans and Americans (who can go to live and buy land in Mexico easily, I have heard) be able to go back and forth with impunity? OK, so we really do need borders. But it should be easier for Mexicans who have lived here for decades to stay here with their families -- it serves nobody to deport them! Sometimes the person who is deported is the one working and supporting their citizen family. Mexicans are working and contributing to our economy.
To answer your question, there should be NO 'cheap' labor here. There should be unions and rules which make sure everyone is paid a living wage and treated properly, not like slaves.
That said, farmers also need seasonal labor (even Diane Feinstein, Senator, supports this). When Mexicans are not allowed to come and pick the fruit, vegetables and nuts farms close down, 'developers' come in and buy up the land and where will we get affordable food?
Think. Think about all this.”
