“The REAL nightmare is Congress controlling our health care! Insurance companies are bad enough, but then if you talk facts, insurance companies do NOT restrict care just who pays the bills. Congress WILL restrict who gets the care!
Thanks but NO thanks!!!!!!!!!! Just say no; we already have TOO much Government interferrence in our lives!!!”
Icantbelieveher on Dec 13, 2009 at 19:05:24
“Insurance companies do NOT restrict care? Have you been living in a box? A friend of mine had her chemotherapy denied because it wasn't the kind of chemotherapy the insurance company thought she should be having -- she fought and finally won, but had to fight insurance companies at the same time she had to fight cancer. I know of another woman who got asthma and had her policy canceled because when she was 6 she had bronchitis and failed to remember that when she filled out her forms.
Insurance companies are the ones with death panels -- and THEY ARE THE ONES WHO RESTRICT CARE with rescision which is to cancel policies of people who get sick, and they promise that they will continue to do it!”

“Insurance companies DO restrict care and who gets care. Not a good for-profit system you're defending.”
“$6200 deductible - that might get you 2 ER visits. Not a big deal really for the costs today.
I am looking at 3.3 days (average stay) in the hospital for a military service related injury the VA will not cover, at a cost of ~$55K for ONLY the hospital room.....then add the doctor, PT, meds, time off work.....
The VA said I make a modest income so they will not cover me even after admitting it is a covered procedure.
Thanks but NO thanks to government dictacted health care!!!”
“Overinsured? Probably true! Here in WA we had an initiative that mandated alternative methods, like acupuncture, be paid for by insurance companies.
Personal responsibility is being replace with the Nanny State!”
“"It works in nations all around the world."
Please provide one example.
P.S. My success criteria includes timely service (that leaves out Canada) and a system which is not NOT going broke or mandates actual tax rates over 60%.”

“Here's some information on Universal Health Care in Nations around the world.
My criteria is simple, every man woman and child within the nation having access to Comprehensive Health Care. I don't believe some Americans deserve access to Health Care while others don't. Your financial concerns don't move me because the since Reagan the GOP has added 10 trillion dollars to the National Debt through irresponsible spending and tax cuts, while Universal Health Care would be a cost saving positive for the US. As far as service is concerned, once a program is implemented any short comings that arise can be addressed. In the US currently 45000 die a year due to lack of health care and millions more are driven into bankruptcy. There is no upside to Health Care in the US as it is currently delivered, it is profit driven, regressive, and primitive.”
“Yes, but per the liberal method, fair will be controlled by paper pushers and political hacks not customers.”
Hurried Harry on Dec 13, 2009 at 18:33:58
“How can customers control fair if they are required to have insurance to see a doctor. I have not found one doctor who will accept a new patient without some kind of insurance- even if you tell them you will pay at time of visit. We don't even know why they charge what they charge - whether it is fair or not - but we do know that the costs are rising faster than every thing else.”
“Insurance companies are HIGHLY regulated by both State and Federal Governments, which making 2-4% profits. Federal programs have documented overhead costs that run as high as 22%, even MoveOne.org admits that!
While CEOs do nicely, they do NOT wield the influence our corrupt Congressmen do and DO have LOTS of risk exposure for their actions - unlike Congress.
Remember Teddy Kennedy was a huge supporter or HMOs when he helped create the, then he became one of their biggest enemies when they did what he set them up to do - reduce costs.
Any federal system WILL restrict access and INCREASE wating times for 2 reasons - 1) they are doing NOTHING to increase resource availability and 2) the Feds are ALL about numbers. Oh, will expand coverage, including to those here illegally, and restrict care for the working class, but the elite - like Congress - will work the system to get what they want. Net result will NOT be good for the legal citizenry.”
“At least the man is smart enough to know that he is doing wrong and will be punished for it. Too bad he did not take the correct route and vote for those who pay his salary instead of the corrupt Party that pulls his strings!
This self-serving hippocracy is what is wrong with American politics, career politicans who put their own/Party interest above those of those who own this nation, the taxpaying, legal citizens.”

“In YOUR opinion.”

“Too bad you're too ignorant to even spell hypocrisy correctly. Too bad voters aren't required to pass an intelligence before casting a ballot.”
“How can this be? Mr Frank told us only the Tea Party folks shouted down Congress. Nancy told us it was unAmerican to do so (until the video surfaced in which she promoted such actions when the other side was in power)
But the President insists everything be done NOW! How can this be Mr. Frank? What dirty little task is so important you must run off to it rather than performing your job?”
“Do some research, such information is not hard to find. Once costs become an issue, the next topic will be how much of those expenses are incurred in the last few months of life. You may not call it a death panel or rationing but the impact will be the same.
Go research some of the books and articles published by the Czars, you should be scared. Talk of harvesting organs WITHOUT permission, how the return on investment is much higher for the young, and we must limit those who chose to undertake politically incorrect hobbies, like auto racing. Soon you too will have to ask permission of the Government.........
Our forefathers gave their all for us NOT to experience this type Goverment. Today our Senators are giving away those freedoms for short term rewards and personal power.”
“The medical education requirements are set by the Government, remember? These are the same folks who promise to fix what THEY broke! Course THEY will NOT participate in this system, can you say conflict of interest on this? What a criminal joke they are pulling the working taxpayers of America. If they wanted to fix what they broke, it would NOT take 2,000 pages of legalize. But that would upset the trial lawyers.”
“You call it a muth, I personally know of doctors who have closed their doors solely due to the malpractice rates. And no it was NOT because he had too many claims, that number was ZERO claims ever filed.
Yup, lets not solve the malpractice issue and see how long the delays are for service. You can count on the immediate care facilities to go away quickly, then specialists, then,,,,,,,,,,”
“So why did you go the first service? Did not not inquire on costs FIRST? It IS your responsiblity to care for yourself!
While the difference is probably not justifiable, if the public was to ask FIRST those who are taking us for a ride would not last. Think for yourself folks, think!”

“who in their right mind would think that a cat scan would cost as much as a new car?????????
those charges are egregious....look for the Wall Street investors trying to get every penny that they can from the bottom 80%....”
“And just wait, there soon will be more taxes and restrictions on those also. You call that freedom?
What the entitlement crowd in the US has forgot is the responsiblity part of the equation. YOU are responsible for your well being, and paying YOUR bills. YOU are the person with the prime interest in your health, not some paper pusher in DC or the local State Capital - they will only look at dollars.
I must assume you support the upcoming rationing and attacks on those who can not compete in muscle contests. Your turn on one of those lists is coming too!”
“As a matter of fact, I HAVE waited for YEARS under military medical care for surgery on a badly damaged knee. People we decent, the resources are JUST NOT AVAILABLE. And the proposals will ONLY MAKE THAT WORSE.”
“You missed a CRITICAL point in your arguement. The framers did NOT allow lawyers in the legislative branch as they are members of the judical branch thus there is a conflict of interest and weakens the separation of powers. Around the 1900s we MISTAKENLY changed that, since then we have not got statesmen who cared about the country but have primarily lawyers and professional crooks (errr, politicans) who are primarily interested in getting reelected and benefitting themselves.
No, the framers had it right - the citizens screwed it up by letting too many changes happen and ignoring the 10th Amendment.”
Stephen Lahanas on Nov 13, 2009 at 18:20:46
“Um, Abe Lincoln was a lawyer wasn't he. Where exactly do you find your anti-government facts? and he had some views on the 10th amendment, which is why we're one country and not two...”
