Smell Ability Linked With Genes, Study Finds

“They are not necessary. They are cheap and therefore, readily utilized. Unfort., we still live in a society that refuses to correlate many illnesses with toxic environmental exposures. If the research was more readily available to people by way of their family physicians, then the public would take this issue more seriously. But as it stands now, many physicians laugh at patients who come in complaining of certain symptoms related to chemical exposures. They are mockingly called "sensitive" or hypochondriacs. In the meantime, MCS rates skyrocket as well as other environmentally induced cancers, leukemias, etc. It's all a big shameful situation that hopefully will be exposed sooner than later.”

“Many chemicals in cleaning products, perfumes, etc., can cause damage to the olfactory over a period of time. Consequently, these people lose their sense of smell and require stronger perfumes, etcetera. It's sad because they are putting themselves at risk for environmental injury or Multiple Chemical Sensitivity from all the chemicals. It's a debilitating disease. I should know. I have had it for 5 years and am disabled now.”

“That new car smell is from hundreds of chemicals gassing off of the plastic/leather/fabric materials. These chemicals are: formaldehyde, benzene, toulene, etc. They are carcinogenic. There are certain cars such as Honda that has very low voc levels.”

“People are angry, resentful, and miserable. Everyone in my life has issues. I see the sadness everywhere I go. I don't know if it's because we're having the middle-aged blues or what, but it seems prevalent. People seem as if they want to attack, criticize, blame, and most of all be victims. No-one looks at one another anymore while conversing. We have a culture that is obsessed w/social media/communication, but no-one is feeling listened to or validated. Everyone is looking down at their i-phone, or texting. This creates resentment, anger....everyone is carrying it, but no-one is talking about it. I want out of this dis-respectful culture and I long for true inner peace that ultimately, comes from God.”

“Come on, people. For those of you who said, "like who has heard of that"....You buy kale, quinoa, and O.J. at the grocery store. However, conventional kale is full of pesticides. O.J. isn't even Orange Juice anymore. It's full of chemically-processed flavored packets and preservatives. Research it. Just eat an orange, is right. Nuts are being sprayed w/an obnoxious chemical now. Buy organic produce if possible, and reap the benefits of pesticide-free produce.”

“No-one can tell me MSG is not a toxic substance. I've had severe heart palpitations, loss of hearing, dizziness, confusion, etc., upon consuming foods with MSG. it's neuro-toxic and there are thousands of studies that back this up. I don't know why people get off on telling me that my symptoms aren't real??? What is the pay-off to this? You may not be sensitive to it and continue to eat it, that's your perogative, but don't tread on my right to express my opinion. Moreover, just because you don't have an immediate reaction to something, doesn't necessarily mean that it's not causing damage in one's body.”

“For months, I had trouble swallowing and saw several specialists and underwent many tests but all they could tell me was I was having spasms of the esophagus. It finally dawned on me that soups and other foods containing MSG were causing this reaction! I'm glad many Chinese restaurants are proclaiming "No MSG" on their menus, although you still have to be careful because most soy sauces and other sauces may still have varying levels of MSG.”

“Why so many "good" Catholics take to judging others when the Bible clearly says that judgement belongs to the Lord, I will never understand. Defrocked, abomination.....there is nothing wrong with this priest coming out. One should live in their truth. After all, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Denying who you are, in essense, is a denial of the Christ within. It's more of an "abomination" to deny the Christ. Seek Christ Jesus first, that you may all come to your own truth and stop judging fellow Christians.”

Randy McRay on Dec 9, 2012 at 21:36:36

“It depends on whether he is a practicing homosexual or just has same sex attractions. The notion that any kind of judging is unbiblical comes from a total misunderstanding of the statement made by Christ.”

“This issue is not about money. It's about choice. And people simply don't want to commit to the time it takes to learn about healthy food choices/ingredients. Easier to use the excuse that you can't afford it, rather than having to challenge yourself out of "zombie-hood" to move forward with the truth.”

“Please don't take offense to this, but I'm having a difficult time understanding your message. There are too many grammatical errors. I'm not a snob, nor do I berate people for their choice to buy toxic products. I am not a wealthy person, just an educated, conscientious type. This isn't about class structure nor rich vs. poor. It's about ignorance and apathy. I prefer to spend my money wisely now, rather later on countless medical bills. People who complain about the price of organic food are the same individuals who buy expensive soda and other processed junk for their children. They are the same people who have 27 lbs. of expensive chemical cleaning products in their homes. They are the same ones who have the latest i-phone and expensive car. You've completely missed the point of my correspondence. I think you are looking for an argument and I refuse to give you one. God bless you and your choice to live how you wish. However, when you are in the hospital with an environmentally caused illness or one that is related to your poor conventional food choices, perhaps you will re-think your opinion.”

“Snobs? Elitist? These are the same people who are buying processed food for their kids because they don't understand basic physiology....that we are what we eat. They don't want to be challenged for a better life because it would mean they have to take a hard look at why they choose poison over health. It's the same people who are "married" to their chemicals and deny the existence between chemical exposure and asthma/environmental illness. It's the same people who see virtually nothing wrong with a commercial where Raid is being sprayed on the kitchen floor while children play/study nearby. Or the Febreze commercial that has everyone believing that they are smelling fresh roses instead of a lethal concoction of petrochemicals and other harmful ingredients. Have we gone mad? People will let their kids drink aspartame in diet soda, but when there's a recall on some toy from China, they are the first ones running back to the store for a refund. Wake up, America. We're poisoning ourselves and innocent children. How do we justify this? Sick!”

remunerated hiautus on Jan 9, 2013 at 17:07:55

“Isn't this an example of snobbery. You seem to berate people on things that are completely concerns them. Nobody forces you not to eat organic. You do not have to buy Febreze or drink diet soda.

Your post is the heart of the issue. At any moment system/culture controls exclusive access to a certain lifestyle (through money or other means) and whoever supports that lifestyle claim that others demean the human mind. Usually the rich is more silent on this point because there is no barrier for their freedom. The adamant ones are from the middle class who wants to imitate the rich.

If organic food was as cheap as the non-organic, there will not be a discussion like this. Instead culture would find a different language to create the same dichotomy---be it the grain ratio in their dogs' food or the guest parking regulations on their streets.”

Poisonous Perfume? Revealing the Dangers of Fragrance

Commented Mar 27, 2012 at 13:29:38 in Healthy Living

“The chemical industryi is killing us and our children. Even baby shampoo has quaternium 15 in it which is formaldehyde. The European baby shampoo banned this ingredient. The FDA is so lax here. So many hidden, undisclosed, toxic ingredients in perfumes, laundry detergents, dryer sheets, plug-ins, air freshness, and candles that contain toulene (which is also in hair dye) and is linked to various cancers that are literally sucking the life out of us. I have M.C.S. which isn't a picnic, folks. Caused by chemicals. I immediately become ill when i smell perfume. I'm isolated and It's altered my life forever. People don't understand the health risk nor do they get that anything you put on your body gets absorbed into the bloodstream. I've gone without creams and potions for a year and I've never looked younger. Wow the money I save not to mention improved health! Throw this perfume out. We ont need it. People drown in it and asthma rates are up. I wonder why.”

“When will we get it? It's the chemicals in our environment that are making these kids sick. Every other commercial is for toxic air-freshners like Febreze, Glade Plug-In's, scented dryer sheets, laundry detergent and fabric softeners. These are absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes. Your children are tired, exhausted, sick because they are breathing chemicals all day long. These chemicals are highly toxic and volatile when heated. It's greed from these chemical companies that is robbing our children of their health. New carpet emits formaldehyde for years and other toxic chemicals. Colognes and perfumes have hundreds of un-regulated chemicals in them as well. It's criminal that kids have to suffer for adults ignorance, stupidity and all over preventable measures. Throw this scented, toxic, chemical crap in the garbage! Everyone's health will improve. I have M.C.S. which is growing at an alarming rate. Trust me, it's not a picnic.”
