“lol. You don't even get it. That is how incompetent an idiot you are. The van should not have been on the tracks, you should have prevented that. The fact that after the van was on the tracks, due to you incompetence, that you additionally got the wheels "stuck" is adding incompetence on top of incompetence, and then you kept on piling it on. Get it now? You created the situation! The child survived because of your incompetence. The child was still secure in the seat because you were incompetent at getting the child out. The van was in a favorable position because your incompetence got it stuck there. You see it now? If you were not there that day nothing would have happened. The train would have passed without incident. I'd bet that they never let you direct traffic ever again. And if they did...”

santee03 on May 16, 2013 at 01:34:31

“My choices were to leave the vehicle where it was, straddling the tracks or hope that she could drive off to the right to an area off the tracks. She cut the tires too far and got stuck. Her van was already in the worst possible position when I got there. So I had nothing to lose by trying to get her off the tracks. I literally had seconds to decide what to do. You are right though, the minivan should not have been stopped on the tracks but that was not my doing.”

santee03 on May 16, 2013 at 01:34:20

“Look, I took my job seriously and I ended up with permanant damage to my leg as a result and almost died from my injuries. So I had to retire as a result. I apologize for my snide comments. This is a sensitive issue for me. I miss my job and serving the community. To paint a clearer picture of what happened, I was about 150 feet away over the crest of a hill at my designnated post. The bell went off indicating a train was coming. I could not see the tracks from the post I was at so I ran down and saw the car straddling the tracks. The woman was following her husband and he stopped as did everyone around her. There was nothing I could have done from my post to prevent her from stopping on the tracks. The woman was like a deer in the headlights and would not even get out even after I kept yelling for her to do so. Had I not been there that day, she would have stayed in the minivan and been killed. Had I not been there, the train would have hit where the boys was.”

“1. Are you really defending your point by enacting the "Motherhood Manifesto"? lol

2. Your argument that Landscapers do get paid for the winter, through Unemployment is a good argument against your point.

3. Your statements are factually incorrect. Many US states have paid Parental Leave and more are taking it up. Like disability insurance, Parental Leave is not a federal juristriction issue.

4. Most of these countries do not have labor laws at all. I don't know where you get “163 countries give women paid leave with the birth of a child". But I do know that the US does (see my item 3 above).
I do not know how you even came up with 178 nations either. There are 193 members of the United Nations and not all nations are members.”

“You are the only one that wrote anything about ignoring federal law.

And there is only one reason that there are federal laws and that is because congress enacted them. There is no other requirement. (then there is the supreme court, but that is another subject). And with 500 people voting and all the "deals" and line items in congress, and then state legislatures on top of that, no one can accurately say "why" any specific piece of legislation got passed.
But you are the first one that I ever heard say or write anything about "equality" with regard to employment laws.”

justwanttruth on Sep 30, 2012 at 10:07:26

“And when I say equality, I mean in negotiating power. There has been a lot of talk about pregnant women negotiating with employers on this thread, like an employer has any incentive to do so. They hold all the cards in the end. I am not talking about special cases either, where an employee might be so valuable that an employer has to bargain. Most of the jobs where this discrimination takes place are low wage.”

justwanttruth on Sep 30, 2012 at 10:04:38

“Why do you think employment laws and unions exist in the first place? if businesses did not regularly, throughout history, exploit workers, there would be no need for government or organized labor to step in on behalf of the individual.”

justwanttruth on Sep 29, 2012 at 23:27:49

“I don't care what you want to call it. I am not ideological, I am looking for ways to bring about the most happiness and stability to the most people. If that is in conflict with capitalism, so be it. Capitalism cannot provide answers for everything and, in fact, should not be asked to. If I want clean water to drink, how does capitalism provide for that without regulation imposed from the outside asking it to adapt to that directive? Capitalism is a wonderful creative force but useless and often dangerous if not given a direction to go in with bound options. Life is too complex for the answer to every conflict to be "move to another country."”

You will have to pay her for an additional 6 months, while she is not doing any work on your house and you must hold the job for her (and not have any plumbing in your house) until she is ready to come back and finish the job.
