Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 06, 2010 at 10:30:00 in World

“That would be true, if GAZA (and the rest of Palestine) wasn't under an illegal occupation by Israel.

As long as that is maintained, Israel can manufacture any excuse it wants - the facts prove
Israel is culpable.”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 19:43:34 in World

“"10. The Siege of Gaza - The siege corrupts the moral values of all Israelis, who, whether or not they are aware of what is being done to the people of Gaza, bear ultimate responsibility for all acts being carried out in their name."

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. 'No. 10' is the matter of most concern of most of the Jews I know, no matter their position concerning the occupation.

I will look for your articles on Haaretz.”

RealWorld78 replied on Jan 06, 2010 at 09:03:57

“Unfortunately what is being done to the people of Gaza is a direct result of a) Hamas in power and b) firing missles into Israel. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. Instead of renouncing violence (which would have brought in BILLIONS of dollars in foreign aid) and focusing on building schools and houses, Hamas continued with its armed struggle and focused on firing missles and trying to smuggle weapons in from Iran. The people of Gaza deserve better than to be run by an Islamo-fascist government.”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 19:40:41 in World

“Yes, 'everyone's' on Israel's side.

That's why the U.S. has to use it's veto just every UN meeting to stop some initiative to sanction Israel.

Oh wait, that just means that the UN (the rest of the world) are 'anti-semites.' LOL”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 19:21:18 in World

“Yes, it's galling to see my tax dollars support an apartheid state to the detriment of our own country's national interests.

As for 'Arab Failures' ; Israel's economy, measured in per capita income or in any other manner is far below that of it's Arab neighbors. (Who are by the way, not recipients of 6 billion per year US 'aid' nor donations from every synagog in the world.) FAIL”

WBMD replied on Jan 06, 2010 at 00:45:54

“Actually, Israel's economy, without the US grants, surpasses that of all its Arab neighbours, COMBINED.”

“Unless the citizens are Jewish Israelis, right?

When one of them gets hurt in any altercation, it's an act of 'terrorism'.”

WBMD replied on Jan 05, 2010 at 20:17:38

“Bombing a bus, a passover seder or a kindergarten is not an "altercation", and the kids at the discotheque that were blown to smithereens were not protecting soldiers or arms dumps.”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 12:40:51 in World

“Thanks - yes it's very ironic.

And it's very revealing ; most of the people that use that argument don't
realize that's it's simply a basic racist premise that claims that the 'superiority' of the usurpers vindicates them.

It's the exact mentality utilized to justify the military oppression of indie Americans on behalf of 'Manifest Destiny.'”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 11:13:19 in World

“Actually the article should be titled, 'The ONE worst Israeli mistake of the decade'.

However, I think that the worst mistake was actually the Lebanon war - the world's given the Israeli Carte Blanche to do whatever they want to the Palestinians. But in Lebanon, the world saw the IDF get it's butt kicked. Quite bad for their image.”

Israel's 10 Worst Errors of the Decade

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 10:58:39 in World

“That's just a reworded standard Israeli propaganda myth (number 103) that states that the 'superiority' of the Zionists, who were able to grow bigger farms or whatever, than the indies gives them the 'right' to steal their land. (Very much like U.S. 'Manifest Destiny.')

The thinly disguised racism of this premise makes it ineffective outside of RW racist circles. But for the same reason, it's a very popular premise for racists.

And therefore, it's a very useful tool for Israeli RW propagandists.”

WBMD replied on Jan 05, 2010 at 18:08:05

“Israel's success as a country and a society, in the face of having no natural resources, and being forced to fight daily for survival really gets your goat, doesn't it? Especially in the face of Arab failures, almost across the board, despite wallowing hip-deep in oil money.”

CigarGod replied on Jan 05, 2010 at 11:29:52

“Have a cigar.

Isn't it ironic that some extreme supporters of Israel, use the "superiority" argument?”

President Obama Should Negotiate with the Taliban

Commented Dec 14, 2009 at 21:31:56 in World

“It seems to be a popular trend to ignore the elephant in the room which is, that with almost no exceptions - the U.S. has no intention of ever withdrawing from any country it invades.”

“The funny thing is,that countries like Japan and Germany, where there are still U.S. troops stationed, thrive and are being paid very goody,so the United States can play its little war games. These countries don`t spent much on the military and every citizen has health care, while back in the States people are literally going bankrupt because they can`t pay the mortgage and their health insurance.”

Afghanistan and Pakistan: Anatomy of a Proxy War

Commented Dec 12, 2009 at 15:04:27 in World

“What a stunningly accurate assessment, so rarely seen these days.

U.S. intelligence is completely at a loss and the only foreign policy that they can ever seem to come up with, is to send to troops with no strategic direction.

The Pentagon has said that they feel that they can secure Pakistan's nukes if a regime that they don't like comes into power. I think that's their most stupid assessment of all time. And this time, the result has the potential has catastrophic potential

Too bad the Pentagon's completely compromised and driven by the insane greed of the the Military Industrial complex.”

Gentlemen, Failure Is an Option

Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 17:04:17 in World

“The real purpose of the 'Iraqi surge' was as a cover to simply pay off all the terrorist groups to hold off their attacks till we withdrew to our bases.

Something similar's probably going on in Afganistan that may allow him to declare a 'military victory' just like the NEOCONs did in Iraq.

And don't discount Obama's ability to use the failure of 'the strategy' to show once and for all, why the military shouldn't be calling the shots in foriegn policy.”

Demand China Commit Military Forces to the War in Afghanistan

Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 12:12:30 in World

“ROFL!!

The Afgan war is possibly the stupidest, most hubristic debacle in U.S. history. NATO's 'commitment' is only maintained through the most blatent use of politcal leverage which is threatening to dissolve the alliance.

Chinese involvement in one of our stupid wars is certainly the NEOCON wetdream of the highest magnitude. But China's continuing economic ascendancy is maintained by their staunch refusal to engage in one of Washington's wars of choice.

So, despite being prime RW rabble rousing rhetoric, no serious strategist thinks China is that dumb.”

Giuliani the Brave

Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 14:50:11 in New York

“What terrifies the RWNut coalition is the fact that all the 'confessions' and much of the other 'evidence' was extracted under torture and is therefore, inadmissible.

Also since the circumstancial 'evidence' is all from the U.S., military, there is likely no valid
evidence whatsoever.

Not that it will be a problem getting a death penalty. Any juror failing to convict these people will be
in extreme personal danger from the far more numerous, RW 'Terrorists'.”

“Concur. An open mind = intellectual honesty. That having been said, nobody said it was easy. I think that you might agree that 'pseudoscience' works both ways.

Because it is most egregious when a scientist disavows his own discipline to smear a subject that's just too much for them to handle. (Scientists also have vested interests to maintain grants, ect. - remember 'cold fusion?')

I wonder if DanAckroyd planned that we'd be arguing this upto Hallowen? lol

It's very interesting for me, as 'Ghosts' have to be the toughest phenomena to quantify because of it's very nature. It is fascinating though, to learn that scientific principles have been focused on the paranormal since Plato http://www.encyclopediaofauthentichinduism.org/articles/14_greek_civilization.htm

“"Is it possible? Of course. It hasn't been DISproven"

Precisely, this statement is what separates the open minded skeptics from the cranks who claim they can disprove any evidence.”

Inghram replied on Oct 28, 2009 at 01:20:02

“I very much agree with you, Fein. If something has not clearly been disproved, then one must always be open to and consider the possibility that such a thing does indeed exist, whether that be God, UFOs, ghosts, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or the crazy pink elephants who like to chase me all around my house after a hard night of drinking.

Of course, prioritizing the evidence we do have is must so that one does not venture off like Don Quixote, chasing windmills. Evidence, as Reason so aptly stated above, is a must.”

“RedBearSaid

As soon as you start to distinguish between believers and non-believers you are into pseudo science. In science there aren't believers and non-believers, there are rational people who do their best to objectively analyze facts and arguments.

When my father died I had incredibly intense dreams where we had discussions which I always wished we had had when he was alive. Those dreams were more real to me than many of my every day experiences and to this day they give me a feeling that part of him is still alive. But I'm a rational person and I don't have to believe in ghosts and ghoblins to keep his memory alive in my heart.

FALSE Anecdotal comments are not 'pseudo science.' (Maybe read my whole post next time.)

And if that experience doesn't at least make you realize there's the POSSIBILITY of the phenomena, that's not r'ational', dude. You're got some kind of problem associated with this subject matter.

Anyway, you'll have plenty of scientific studies you can try to refute all you want.”

That statement shows that you don't understand the scientific method: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method

What's that, a diversion? Nice try

Still going with the pejorative approach? 'Surely I must not understand science, if I disagree with you'. lol

I've told you about 3 times there were plenty of scientific studies. You're trying to divert http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_dishonesty

Why Increased U.S. Sanctions on Iran Don't Work

“parapsychology part 2

If a scientist claims a professional opinion, he has to back it up. whether his opinion is pro or con. Otherwise he's a phony violating his own principles. If I was debating such a phony, (which we've established you're not) it's going to be a main issue.

I've personally experienced what falls under the parapsychology category with witnesses so I don't need photos and testimony. Nor do I care to convince 'non believers.' But the experience has made me VERY determined to debunk cynics for the benefit of those with an open mind.

I'm sure that you noticed that 99% of the 'skeptics' on this thread fall into the category of trolls and cynics since ALL they can come up with is insults and pejoratives - why debate a troll?”
