There are LOTS of working people, HARD working people, who do not have health insurance. They need to come to AZ, we need them here as well.”

Army Says Morale Has Fallen Among Troops In Afghanistan

“I agree. Bush let his general tell him what to do and now the public thinks that is how it goes. It is NOT how it is. The Commander in Chief is the guy that makes the decisions. JFK had the same sort of pressure from his generals, and didn't take their advice. When LBJ took over, the generals came back and got what they wanted, escalation in Viet Nam. I prefer the guy that sorts and sifts through the information and, when it hits critical mass, makes a decision. Anyone who has read "Audacity of Hope" shouldn't be the least bit surprised in how this president makes decisions. I think the past weeks have had a profound impresson on the president, each death is a life to him, not a number. We should respect the fact that he sees our military as one at time. To you it may be a photo op to some, but both he and the First Lady have looked behind the guns and bombs and looked at the families that support their serviceperson and their sacrifice. That has been action, not photos and not words. Just look at the VA, biggest increase in 30 years.”

“Coiuld you have picked a more blatent photo to use? Of COURSE our troops are exhausted and that is what this guy looks like. But blaming the 8 previous years on this president's ONE year - as well as the increase of mortality and injuries. When a war heats up - that is what happens. Compare it to the Iraq war and let's see how it looks.
Especially after watching the WWII verterans this week where they lost THOUSANDS of their buddies in HOURS. I am not saying one life is worth more than another, but we do need some perspective. We are doing exactly what was done in Viet Nam, counting bodies. Whether it is ours or theirs.
It disrespects our military to show them at their most vulnerable OR at their best. There has to be an in-between-time where they are doing their job and trying to move forward with their mission.
There is no damned quick-fix, it is a hard slog. Our reputation of walking away in Afghanistan is well founded. Let's not do it again just because we turned our resources to Iraq when we abandoned the Afghans. I wish it were different, but it isn't. Nothing hard is easily won.”

“So why would McChrystal feel 'stabbed in the back' ?? He is the one that made his speech OUT OF THE COUNTRY about what he thought the US should do. Didn't that sort of box the president into a corner and start this hoo-rahh? It is too bad he feels that way, but I have found that people often regret having spoken publically about private conversations when they find they have pulled the top off a hornet's nest.
The Afghan 'election' has truly made the situation worse. Karzai has proven he has no intention of making any changes as long as he gets the finances he wants -- apparently private funds. I don't believe Obama liked Karzai BEFORE he was president, and saw him as a slimy despot who took his country for what he could get. The fact that Mashood was killed 9/10, only goes to prove that Afghanistan lost their one great Afghan Lion, and only got this guy because he cleaned up good. If Bush hadn't protected him for 7 years, we would NOT be in yet another mess, Bush's 'easy-way-out' of every situation has brought us. Most heartbreaking is that the Afghan people have suffered fools for 30 years and all they have at the moment is a broken down country that is not that damned easy to fix.”

“Then, let's pay hell! That's how we got here, right? Dancing with the devil that talked about social responsibility to our fellow Americans was supporting Welfare Queens, instead of providing a safety net for women and children who are now on the streets and shelters.
This law was changed in '73, most young people today has no clue what life was like when the back allys and Houses of Ruth were all that stood between trying to feed the children you had, keep your job, or live on the streets. Abortion is not a contraception method for 99% of the people who get them. Since these same Right to Lifers don't support contraception methods at all - the hypocrisy is stark. Once again it is the RtLs that are going in the backdoor with their word tricks, rather than be honest that they want the US to change the law -- which they haven't been able to do legally. They have spent the last 20 years eeking their way into governance and tweaking the laws until we are here today. Reproductive rights may be the law, but if the doctors who perform them are killed - where does a woman go?”

“Whoever wrote the headline "why won't Obama give you a job" needs their ass kicked.
PULLLLLLEEEZ, it is just ignorant to blame the president for what businesses are currently doing. They are all focused on their bottom line and their shareholders, not on anyone's job but their own. Actually most of the hiring is clearly being done with federal money - so what is with that? As well as the fact the there is more stimulus money being released periodically, so more jobs will be created. Why doesn't anyone talk about the tax cut 95% of Americans got with the Recovery Act? You know, the one that showed up in our paychecks every month? Is that just another case of 'convenient amnesia? I noticed it every check, surely I am not the only one.
It is the states that are cutting jobs to meet their budget balancing - none of which is the president's fault since the GOP reduced the amount the states got. So they all got some and not enough to keep the status quo.
How nice to have a convenient target to blame for everyone else's decisions. This president lets the Congress make public decisions, rather than executive fiat like Bush did. Think about it, isn't that democracy? the making sausage part?”

“'Suddenly' ??? Pullleeezz! Just because the last 8 years have been run by the Keystone Kops who canNOT walk and chew gum, does not mean that this administration is anything like it.
When you have a nation caught in the grip of 8 years of public neglect and private greed [read Wall Street and big corp raking it in by moving jobs out of the country] this is NOT anything that will happen fast. I think it is interesting that the GOP has continually put holds on extending unemployment benefits for those that are still dependent upon it.
It just seems pretty hypocritical to me that because everything is not coming up roses and champagne, that it is the president's fault or something he has mishandled. I've voted for 42 years, and this is one of the few times when a president [a former senator] chose to use legislation to fix things, rather than executive order [read Bush/Cheney]. He is letting the people speak thru their representatives, who, shock upon shock, are not used to governing. They are great at the polarizating, dividing and conquering the media moment, but not especially good at accomplishing things.
Let's see - Wall Street collapse, massive layoffs, escalating foreclosures, two wars and oh yes, two nuclear countries racing to make bombs, let alone the fact that the oceans are rising, if Obama was truly the Messiah all he would have had to do is speak a few words, and shazam! everything is fixed.”
