“I do not see how these supposedly professional diplomats give any help to the cause of addressing racisim by walking out of a conference they have agreed to attend. If they find the Iranian Presidents speech "vile" or "hateful" then they should address that in their own speeches. While the president of Iran is a buffoon, and certainly his speech was a case of the pot calling the kettle black, the substance of his attack on Israeli racisim deserves to be addressed. Iran has not recently engaged in military action against a captive, civilian population. Israel has. The divide between Israel and the Palestinians, while ostensibly over land - has devolved into a base, racist hatred on both sides. If this is not addressed by the international community, then the conflict will continue to fester, the Palestinians will continue to suffer appallingly, the Israelis markedly less so - but suffering is suffering, and the world will continue to be destabilised by this running sore of a situation.”
“1. End the siege. (the rockets DID stop, the siege went on)
2. Give them all back their rightful property and land! Too bad if the "jews are outnumbered" so what? thats a racist statement. As if Jews were worth more as human beings than arabs.
3. Because then there will be nothing to resist. Israels practical recourse would be a multi ethnic police force and multi ethnic army, dedicated to protecting the ALL citizens of the country, not just the Jewish ones.
4. Because they are reasonable human beings like you and me. Why do think they are not? Is it because you believe the Palestinians are fundamentally inferior human beings?
5. Because US support emboldens and encourages Israel to resolve every situation with extreme violence, regardless of consequences to actual human beings.”
“So Israel is saying that its okay for them to abuse human rights because the Iranians are bad to their gay community.
By that "logic" its okay for me to punch old ladies in Sweden because Mao killed so many people in the chinese 'cultural revolution'.
What has Iran's human rights record got in common with Israels? They are BOTH appalling. By pointing out the mote in their neighbours eye, they simply draw attention to the beam in their own. Pot, meet kettle.”
