“Oi! How incredibly uninformed and misleading. There is nothing wrong with fructose when taken from natural sources like fruit and people should be eating there fruits and with this I agree fully. However, high fructose corn syrup is a completely different matter altogether as the alteration of the makeup of the "sugar" as you so lightly call it affects the way the body handles and digests it. Yes, typically HFCS is a 45% glucose and a 55% fructose mix, but it can be as high as 90% fructose to 10% glucose. So far it's largely undetermined what happens to the excess fructose in the digestion process, but it's largely assumed to get stored in the body which is one of the main suspected reasons that diabetes is running wild. Here's an article that I wrote on the issue almost two years ago and the information remains largely current.

“Thank you, you are saying the same thing I heard in a seminar years ago in which a PHD. Nutritionist explained the 'dangers of HIGH fructose corn syrup. The body does not recognize it nor digest it in the same was as it does for regular sugar(not fructose) or fructose in fruits and vegetables. I have to wonder who is Dr. Katz 'schlepping' for, since there is no disclosure noted, I can only guess and it would not be a positive guess. I've often wondered why it is called "HIGH" fructose corn syrup vs. just fructose corn syrup?”
