“Isn’t your statement in it’s entirety incorrect, because you believe I have 'contradicted' myself based on your assumption that I ‘meant’ to used different wording in my attempt to explain an interpretation I don’t necessarily hold. You can pull out your thesaurus and use recreate, reconstruct, restructure, restore, re-erect (I wouldn’t use this one under the circumstances), re-establish, re-emerge or whatever you wish. And you mentioned Jon and Kate because?………”

“To Gawkhawk:
How I see it: my analysis:
In my very limited and humble opinion, I wouldn’t begin to compare what “Kobe Bryant” allegedly perpetrated in the summer of 2003, a one time event with one individual, to what “Tiger Woods” allegedly, has done over the past three years (no one knows for sure) with many individuals. To do so would be akin to comparing a rotten apple with, “say”, a bushel of rotten oranges. In (k)obes’ incident, (singular), there was a agreed upon settlement by both sides, that was undisclosed to the public. (no criminal trial, only civil action). Bryant’s reputation plummeted and endorsement contracts were terminated. In my opinion, I’m glad his reputation went downhill and it cost him a fortune. He still has remarkable talent. But in the same breath that you talk about his talent, you also notice this “book-mark”.
(t)iger woods image up to September, was one of a great golfer, loyal husband and honorable father. Now he is just a great golfer. He can’t, in the immediate future, in my opinion, lay claim to the other two. Therefore, he cannot re-invent this image. Whenever you speak of (t)iger there will always be this footnote. I think I would rather be worth 100 million and be a great golfer, loyal husband and honorable father, than just worth 100 million and a great golfer. But hey, that’s just me….. 9:44@4 pages”

“You are contradicting yourself. You said initially that Tiger cannot "reinvent" himself upon his return. Your explanation above is an attempt to "recreate" his original public image. But reinventing is to come back and have a new persona, a new image. You don't reinvent yourself and still try to be the original. That is what image consultants are for and what his agency will ask him to use.
You probably hated Jon from Jon & Kate, but that is fading...n ow the story is onto Tiger. That will fade with time as well.”

What did you say about Kobe with his alleged rape? He is back to the top of the basketball world along with Lebron. And that was rape.
Tiger had sex with adults who knew of his marriage, family and whole background. Everyone knew that much. So how is it you see that Tiger cannot reinvent his image, but guys like Kobe can?”

“seem's like they could add to the "structural architecture" of the ISS to handle the necessary G forces for less money than to build an entire base on the moon, then build a new spacecraft to go to mars...... .just thinking.. ....”
jsarets replied on Nov 13, 2009 at 14:11:48
“If we land humans on Mars and don't return them alive, it would be a disaster.
We can avoid this by evaluating things on the moon.
For example, long-term habitation on both the moon and Mars will require habitats shielded from radiation by partially burying them in the dusty regolith. We need proper tools or machines to expedite this dirt-moving process. If they fail, we have to bring the crew home in short order. We can do that on the moon. But on Mars, we have to wait months for the planetary orbits to line up for a return, and the crew could die.
We also need to work on ways to keep dust out of critical equipment, which became a problem even on the 3-day trips of Apollo.
It's a huge risk to go to Mars without fleshing out these issues on the moon.”

“Instead of spending billions of dollars going to the moon and using it as a base for a jump to mars and beyond, why not use the same billions to outfit the current international space station with the proper equipment to make the journey to mars?”
ancientmarinader replied on Nov 13, 2009 at 14:02:22
“We wont be ready for mars for decades and the ISS will have reached the end of it's potential lifespan by the 2020s.
It's also not properly shielded. It's made for earth orbit, where it's naturally shielded from most of the solar and cosmic radiation.”

“Good point. I remember when they were making the case for the ISS, they used to say that it will be the base to jump to other planets and worlds away. The ISS has been a failure. Or at least a success for Russian space agency making money for old, middle-aged men to realize their dream to go into space.

“That happend to me once, and I'm a small guy. (5'9" 170-180lbs). WE, I was taking pictures of a unique 'totem' pole in front of a curio shoppe. As I was taking a picture of my son standing next to the totem, a rather large (6'3" 250 lbs) gentleman walked across the shoot. No problem, I started to take another photograph, and this gentleman went "nuts". Started cussing, waving arms, shouting, etc., etc., . He walked up to me and slapped the camera out of my hands. WTF? I gave him the 'good ole' fashion one-two-three, with the first one being a throat punch. Calmed him right down, it did...... picked up my cheap digital camera, and left. Last I saw of him, he was doing donuts on the ground clutching his throat.”
AlexFTW replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 17:50:38
“Nicely done. I get sick of people thinking they can treat photographers any which way they want. Sounds like you were well within your rights to photograph your son. Me? Well, let's just say my camera is neither cheap nor small. When I go out to shoot, I never forget that it can easily be used as a weapon in the very literal sense.”
