“Most Democrats passed a pretty strong financial reform bill through the House recently. Looks like Republicans are really the cowards when it comes to putting their bills where their mouths are.

Olympia Snowe Will Vote Against Health Care Reform

“At first she wasn't crazy about the public option, but now that it's out, what's her excuse for not supporting the bill? What is the rational for all Republicans not supporting this bill if the debate on the public option is basically over and they won? Who actually believes that Republicans are honestly trying to help shape legislation rather than just trying to defeat Democrats?”

“People in New Hampshire are very upset about her not supporting a public option. I wonder how they will feel when she doesn't even vote for the bill without any public option of any kind.
In my opinion everyone who is a Democrat, independent or centrist and isn't an honest participant in passing healthcare is in big trouble in 2010 and 2012. Most independents and almost all Democrats want a strong public option with healthcare reform and that is a large reason why public support is slipping. (I will also admit that corporatism and special interests are going to take down a few other Dems, but that message needs to be sent as well.)”

“He is walking a tight line with Afghanistan, but he is doing exactly what he said he was going to do there for the past 3 years. Did you even listen to him in 2007 and 2008? He is living up to his Afghanistan promises.. . you just don't like them.
Also on healthcare, he isn't living up to his campaign promises of universal healthcare with no mandate. But he has been honest this entire year about healthcare, and it looks like he's going to get what he's been pushing for.
I totally feel your pain when it comes to him not being the "most liberal" person that the Republicans made him out to be, but I never saw him as a Kuchinich/Nader liberal. He was a pragmatic centrist that did troubling things like support warrentless wiretapping while Senator.
Republicans didn't realize that portraying him as a super-liberal socialist actually got him elected and what Obama doesn't realize is that the only way he is going to win reelection is if he continues to seriously piss off Republicans and strong arm progressive policies through before 2010 and 2012.”

“I hope if you learned anything from this article, it's not that the President needs support. What the President and all Democrats need to do is realize that the Conservatives are not their base and they shouldn't be conceding anything to them unless it makes 100% sense within a progressive policy. Dick Cheney and George Bush supporters did not vote for Obama, liberals and progressives did... and Obama said what they wanted to hear. Now they want action. I would rather see Obama serve only one term and pass real universal heathcare with reconciliation than two terms with a wasteful, corporatist administration that compromises on every promise he made.”

“Yeah, because if we voted for the GOP, I'm sure they'd be looking at health reform right now...
Obama isn't getting everything he promised done, but he is moving forward with everything he promised. If we want universal healthcare, we need to help remove obstructionist Republicans and the sorry excuse for progressives - BlueDog-DipShi+$
And we need to fix the Senate. Make the GOP actually filibuster, remove Baucus and Lieberman from committee chairs, start using reconciliation, etc.”

“I think this health bill is worse than nothing. I also think Obama has deliberately misled the country and even lied to people about health care during the campaign.
Sometimes it is more important to hold our representatives accountable, even if we have to take certain "hits."
I could not vote for him again, and that is my right as an American citizen.
Another deciding factor for myself is Afghanistan, where he talked out of two sides of his face there as well.
Without a public option and 55+MBI, I will be OUTSICKO or voting for a third party candidate with some intellectual independence and integrity.”

1) She didn't even serve a full term, so I wouldn't consider that "running" Alaska. She just kept an eye on it while she ran for VP.
2) How can you address climate change if you can't pinpoint a cause, whether that be manmade or not?
3) What "practical changes" did she make to address climate change aside from increasing the oil industry's power and impact in that state?”

On the other hand, the CIA leak case involved treason, b/c a covert CIA agent was exposed and the case also involved Libby going to jail for lying to investigators. Also, the CIA investigation wasn't resolved because nobody was found guilty of outing the CIA agent.
So no, not like climategate at all.”
