“Most Democrats passed a pretty strong financial reform bill through the House recently. Looks like Republicans are really the cowards when it comes to putting their bills where their mouths are.

What is the rational for all Republicans not supporting this bill if the debate on the public option is basically over and they won? “He is walking a tight line with Afghanistan, but he is doing exactly what he said he was going to do there for the past 3 years. Did you even listen to him in 2007 and 2008? He is living up to his Afghanistan promises... you just don't like them.

Also on healthcare, he isn't living up to his campaign promises of universal healthcare with no mandate. But he has been honest this entire year about healthcare, and it looks like he's going to get what he's been pushing for.

I totally feel your pain when it comes to him not being the "most liberal" person that the Republicans made him out to be, but I never saw him as a Kuchinich/Nader liberal. He was a pragmatic centrist that did troubling things like support warrentless wiretapping while Senator.

Republicans didn't realize that portraying him as a super-liberal socialist actually got him elected and what Obama doesn't realize is that the only way he is going to win reelection is if he continues to seriously piss off Republicans and strong arm progressive policies through before 2010 and 2012.”

1) She didn't even serve a full term, so I wouldn't consider that "running" Alaska. She just kept an eye on it while she ran for VP.

2) How can you address climate change if you can't pinpoint a cause, whether that be manmade or not?

3) What "practical changes" did she make to address climate change aside from increasing the oil industry's power and impact in that state?”

“Climategate has nothing to do with treason or any laws being broken for that matter. Climategate has nothing to do with any investigations because it is news about specific environmental research, not about any criminal actions.

On the other hand, the CIA leak case involved treason, b/c a covert CIA agent was exposed and the case also involved Libby going to jail for lying to investigators. Also, the CIA investigation wasn't resolved because nobody was found guilty of outing the CIA agent.

So no, not like climategate at all.”

“Every bill passed by every committee and every branch of the legislature forbids any subsidies or government programs from assisting in paying for the health care of illegal immigrants. Can illegals attempt to break this law? Yes, but anyone can attempt to break any law. It's not the job of a health care bill to worry about law enforcement.

Republicans are trying to take this health care bill and insert language that reduces abortion or cracks down on illegal immigrants in the US. Sorry wingnuts, but this bill isn't about abortion or illegal immigration. If you want bills that crack down on those things, draft the bills separately and see how many votes they get.”
