“I echo the below sentiment. I like them both and Ratigan was a little rude. However, she was carrying some Democratic water in trying to say this was a good bill and beneficial. Better than what is the issue. I personally am with Dr. Dean and would like the bill killed. Ratigan is right in understanding that this bill favors the insurance companies as a lot of knowledgable money is investing in the fact that the insurance companies will be more profitable. Good for the insurance companies is what we know now.”

“How easy for the Limbaughs, Cheneys, Hannity's , etc who never served when it was their turn can look at war. Yay, support the troops, our finest, etc etc but I wish some of them would show up in VA Hospitals to see how many of those who served are faring. I remember reading about Danny Quayle arguing about how we should be in Vietnam to "turn back the Commies" and who later said to his draft board "that he wanted to go to law school" and was given opportunity in the National Guard. Yeh, as those who went had no plans for their future. Same with Cheney who said he "had better things to do". THESE ARE THE GUYS THAT PRAY FOR WAR. HOW CHRISTIAN OF THEM!”

“The problem is that the bill is watered down and Dylan is right (sector stocks go up when situations are favorable for a sector or industry). The Democrats are trying to salvage anything they can because of an abysmal marketing job by the WH and Senate and are trying to save face. We are easily rolled by inferior intelligence and inferior Republican congress people. Why can't we say to the people that Dems were elected partially to get in a smarter president and on health care to reduce costs (with an option as to where people could buy the lower cost product); that it would reduce the number of people not enjoying healthcare; would end denial of claims or previous conditions; reduce personal health care related bankruptcies for many Americans; that there was a moral imperative to help those of our citizens most in need as we did with social security/medicare/civil rights/end child labor/women's voter sufferage/etc (mostly opposed if not all by Republicans). A lousy marketing job was done to get to the people that Republicans have only concerned themselves with tax cuts, deregulation, and fiscal responsibility (when Democrats are in charge); and reducing federal deficits (which Republican administration and when), and like wars only if their sons and daughters don't have to serve.”

“There is ample evidence before and after 911 that Bush wanted to go to war with Iraq under any pretense. 911 was a "gift" to him. Every reason to believe why he didn't go after Osama Bin Laden was because if he were caught the Iraq war would have never been fought. We outsourced the war on Osama to Afgan mercenaries and halted our special forces to stop in fear of him being caught. We shifted supplies that should have gone to Afganistan to the Iraqi front. The reasons are speculative and I suggest a few. 1. We wanted the oil to be controlled from and by the US (Chalabi was our man); Saddam had made noises that the oil from Iraq was to be paid in Euros's; we wanted a military platform in the middle east as we were kicked out of Saudi Arabia to keep and eye on Iran; we wanted to be in the middle of Israel and Iran in a war we thought we could control; we wanted to deliver to the arms industry by using up arms to be replaced (peace just doesn't work for the military defense complex); Bush 2 wanted to be a war president and avenge his "dad" for the attempted assasination of his father; Cheney and Rumsfeld loved the idea of a war (Ok I am not so sure). For Cheney who evaded the Vietnam draft it was a way of making his "bones" and prove himself manly.”

cmp1966 replied on Dec 15, 2009 at 23:38:30

“I strongly suspect you're right. I've often thought Bush found Bin Laden and 9/11 highly inconvenient and that it actually delayed his going into Iraq. I also suspect Cheney & his corporate interests played a large part, too. And in the course of their profit-making, I suspect they committed crimes against humanity and violated many of the ideals I was taught to hold dear as an American.

But I want to KNOW. I want it proven as it would be in a court room. I want to know how someone like this could become president. My grandpa once told me, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I never voted for Bush, but I still feel like he's played me & us for a fool. And I want it all out in the open, plain and clear, and proven beyond doubt. I want us to do what we have to do to make sure it doesn't happen again.”

“Obama should drop Rahm and Geitner. They did not serve him well. Obama is to blame for not having better appointment selection skills. Soaring rhetoric does not make up for not knowing how to use power when one has it. I will never vote for a Republican but darn if we haven't missed a major opportunity with Obama. Believe me, Hillary or even Kerrey would not have been better. Democrats, we have to make better choices in the future. I think we missed the boat with Howard Dean. “Bush didn't want to look at the inspection team's that reported of no WMDs. The "fix" was in place to go to war under any specious reasons. Blair got caught up is this lie and even he did not listen to the inspector's comments. Scott Ritter, our US man on the team said there were no weapons but who cared as we were sold that Saddam was behind 911. Also, let us not forget that oil was a big part or raison d'etre for the war. Saddam wanted America to pay for oil with Euros and that could not stand. Also, the lies of Chalabi used to justify the war was to be rewarded by putting him in charge after the invasion and he would deliver oil contracts. Also, a military platform would be developed in the middle east to keep an eye on Iran and "keep Israel safe". All at our cost of course. The leaders of our nation creating this lie thought the war would be quickly over with an estimated cost of 1/4 Billion $. When one of the Bush economic team said it would cost more he was fired. Gen. Kinseki JCS(sic) said the number of troops needed was above Rumsfeld's limited number he was fired. Finally, all thought the war would end in less than 6 mos. and citizens would be so happy that the lying reasons would be easily forgotten as our vengeance would be satisfied. We are still paying for the lies.”

Dosadi replied on Dec 14, 2009 at 16:04:26

“Chalabi told Bush that if the US got rid of Saddam and put him in charge in return he would recognize Israel. Chalabi also told Bush that he had the backing of the Iraqi people. Then after Saddam was gone we discovered that the Iraqi people did not want or even like Chalabi. It was all a bunch of lies. All of the liars got rich and the US citizen got shafted again.”

Like "we are for apple pie and motherhood, patriotism (except if you have to serve), reduce the size of govt (which republican did it?), cut the size of the deficit (only when Dems are in power otherwise no Republican has done it), against homosexuality (until caught), fidelity to wife and family (unless caught) and other simillar sounding soundbites, etc. Whatever it takes to get power is the actual working Republican mantra. Get power and then not know what to do with it save promote tax cuts (mostly for the wealthy mostly) and starting wars (helps defense industries). Guess what, there are many in this nation stupid enough to believe them. They watch Fox. By the way, saw the old movie "Face in the Crowd" (circa 1958) and immediately thought of Lonesome Rhodes Beck. If you are a Republican and haven't seen this you should. It might provide you with some food for thought.”

Comes in makes a comment then leaves not knowing if it coincides with any comments she has made in the past. Forgetfull? Hmmmmm. Let's be kind and say that is it because she can't store everything in her brain (remember that she couldn't speak to Couric about what she reads and accused that comment of putting her on the hot seat). She has no command of facts, logic, reason, truth, or knowledge, and is basically undereducated. Unless you believe going to college to become a sports announcer one gets educated along the way. Palin in effect would be eviscerated by Gore's command of facts, and basically everything about climate change. (see above). That's all folks!”

Not that he won't return, but they may be a little leary of him as he diminishes their image as a viable and serious TV show. Basically, they know what he is going to say and offers no proof but opinion and his opinions did nothing good for the US over the eight years of his administration. I still love the comments by the wingnuts that 911 did not occur on his watch even when Cheney had the terrorism portfolio and never held a meeting about the subject. The state was never better as when the Dems had complete control. That is not to say they didn't make mistakes. The most progressive parts of the states are Dems. Fiorina has no chance. The gov race with Whitman will be closer but Brown will win. The Retards have no record to run on save these two Republican women came from business environement and we have seen the Republicans running states and the nation running them to the ground. Bush the MBA president was going to run the govt like a smooth running clock as a CEO? I DON'T THINK SO! Fiorina didn't help HP to any heights save put the company in to debt with the purchase of Compaq. Tried to buy that brand anyplace recently?
