“This is why the Bush admin was such a dumb admin and selected people based on ideology and not competence. Doesn't she realize that 911 occured on his watch? Doesn't she realize that first, during the transition of the presidency from Clinton to Bush, Bush was told by Clinton that he considered terrorism the #1 issue? Bush replied, "No" that he considered Saddam as the #1 issue. Doesn't she realize that Cheney was given the terrorism portfolio and that he called no meetings regard that subject? So why does Cheney say that Obama is "dithering" when he "dithered" and that led to 911. Doesn't she realize that C. Rice demoted Richard Clarke from a cabinet position of the Clinton admin #1 guy re terrorism and only introduced him only to Bush after 911 ocurred. And, when that occured Bush asked him who he thought committed the act and Clarke replied "Al Queda" and Bush poked Clarke in the chest and said "it was Saddam". Clarke apparently stood there in silence, probably because of that ignorance. All of this is on record and never countermanded by the Bushies. That in summary was the Bush years of incompetence. Like we would only need a minimum of soldiers for Iraq and that the war would be paid for by Iraqui oil.”

“You have to understand that conservative thinking ecompasses a wide variety of people and viewpoints. Not all conservatives are dumb enough to be impressed by Palin or her supporters. Historical conservative thinking has usually meant to be "fiscally conservative" and "smaller govt". Name one president or governor sporting the stripe of conservatism left their years in office with either of the two in place. No president has. Reagan increased the deficity more than 3X; Bush 1 increased the deficit from Reagan 2X+; and Bush increased his deficit twice DESPITE getting a budgeted surplus from Clinton of 1/2 trillion dollars. So who did better? What conservatives/Republicans/wingnuts etc are against are basically Democrats/liberals etc. They want a regressive world and wouldn't they be happy to go back to a world that they could lynch and disparage people of color and have them walk off the sidewalks as they passed by? Let's face it,"how have the Republicans increased a better way of life for Americans"? Name one! They have nothing and do nothing!”

“In a nutshell this is what the Republicans are; without a clue what they want in a president! What for heaven's sake is "realness". They don't seem to know that while in office as mayor of Wasilla she increased the city's debt. While as Alaska government she didn't reign in spending. This is a state that while getting oil revenue sharing still cannot do without getting monies from the Fed that other states provide as does most of the southern "fiscal conservative" states. What these people are are against everything the Democrats present. She know's nothing of her foreign policies because she has nothing to offer. Basically they like the idea that she is a "maverick or rouge". One doesn't want these type personalities in the military, govt, or business because they can't plan or work with others to achieve. Being against something is not a plan. Did the Retards do anything or propose anything re health care while in office? The facts and stats were there to know about its predicament. These are people on the downside of thinking and education who see Sarah as a reflection of themselves. They wouldn't have voted for Hillary because she was not their "type" which they see as "down home and real". Ignorance should not be an excuse and I don't want the representatives of the most backward states in the union calling the shots for those progressives that have pushed this country forward and for which these people have benefited.”

The reason for Palin's base to love her is because "she is just like us" or those that "wanted to vote for Bush2 because they could have a talk with him over a beer". “There seems to be one problem with these auto awards or when spokespeople for autos are on television speak about "good" mileage about specific models. How will the car hold up for 5 or so years and what will be their resale value is what I ask? Of course this is may be difficult to tell the year of a model introduction. A few years ago I wanted to buy a used car (I always buy a car from a private party for cash) and went shopping. I found an American model and after having it checked out by my mechanic bargained with the owner and he accepted my price. It is a good car but to have purchased an equivilent model like a Toyota/Honda etc I would have had to pay $3-3500 more. I take good care my cars and they last a long time (synthetic oil, regular check ups etc. My wife has a much older Toyota and what I have noticed is that after comparing the two (hers has 100K and mine 44K miles) that her engine sounds much better, takes the same amout of oil between changes (1/2 quart), sounds tighter, and leaks less in the interior after I wash the cars. I hope our "new" American cars do well but these are some minor differences I have noticed.”

Vxx replied on Nov 18, 2009 at 11:58:55

“Buying a car is always a tradeoff of values. The safest car may not be the most functional car or the most efficient car or the most enjoyable car. Safety is not the only criteria.

Volvo has *always* designed Safety into their cars but as a result their cars don't have a lot of snazz (functionality over form). They also suffer from extremely high costs in repair and parts... and their gas mileage is good but not fabulous.”

"Going Rogue": The 18 Biggest Falsehoods In Palin's Book

Commented Nov 18, 2009 at 10:57:38 in Politics

“One would not be able to compare writings, because most papers written in either college/university or in professional school are usually research type papers and are in a voice completely different than would be in a personal book or autobiography. The best would be to hear a person like Obama speak and conclude that his books match his speaking manner. I don't doubt that Obama may have had help with his books but it is not unfathomable to think that he could write a book matching his speaking skills. We cannot do so with Palin or for example Bush 2 which anyone would probably conclude that they were ghost written. Note that Palin's book came in 4 months early which is usually unheard of by most authors. Note also that most of her whereabouts were constantly monitored on twitter, etc. leaving her with little time to "go away in solitude" to write. Had she been writing the book herself, she would have been in a good library (like in NYC or DC) going over newspapers, magazines, etc (also the internet) everyday of the campaign to recollect events, etc or did she have a daily diary in which she wrote (that has not what we have learned so far). It is not hard to conclude that she presented her main "issues" with the McCain campaign and let the true author go at it. The true author doesn'[t appear to be Palin!”

Conservative by definition want the world to remain as it is or was. With out progressivesness in human nature we would still be hanging in the trees and being a rural based agricultural society. We would not advance because the present is good enough. Witness Afganistan that really is a middle ages society and possibly one that we would like to be, save a different and more American way of saying it .”

Lou Dobbs, a talk show host, was talked about and elevated as a potential presidential material by a fringe element and I guarantee most of those were Republicans. Pat Robertson got a lot of votes when he tried and again most if not all were from the Republican base. As a nation we were crazy enough to elect Bush 2 (granted with some voter engineering). We are not a serious political country Brooks fails to note when he doesn't take Palin seriously she got rave reviews from rural and southern voters on the campaign stump. To appeal to those tiny little rural towns in the middle of nowhere that no one has ever heard of before, with populations in the double digits to match their IQs. Towns that only just got cable TV a couple of years ago. Oh, those people love a candidate like that. "She's just like us!" they say. I wouldn't put it past the Republicans to nominate Palin or someone as inept as she is. The Republicans are so lost and desperate right now, they'd probably throw out Limbaugh as a possible contender.”

There was enough evidence out there to know it was a hoax. I can understand why more Democrat politicians grabbed their ankles. Had they not supported the illegal Iraq 2 war they would have been voted out of office by non thinking Americans. So they lived to fight another day in retreating. Many in congress are still in denial proclaiming Irqg was a "just" as are many of the voting public. It was a war about oil and creating a new middle eastern military platform after being kicked out of Saudi Arabia. It was also a war for enriching defences manufacturers. We thought it would be cheap in the number of lives lost and the cost. Remember Bush kicked out Gen Shinseki for saying more troops would be required than Rumsfeld and co. were declaring. Also remember that another Bush official was fired because he said the war would cost more than the $250 Billion than the administration claimed it would be and that the war would be paid with Iraqi oil. Remember, the Bush admin kept the cost of the war "off the books" to hide an exploding deficit. Many in the nation now complain that the debt is high but forget the war costs are now in the budget and we nationally "can't handle the truth".”

Besides, the administration will never be able to get more funds if the economy does not sustain an upward trend. There should be some creative ways to use the money to create jobs or offer home relief, etc. But to give the monies back now will not mean anything to the nation in relief of debts save a feel good story and momentary applause. There may come a time if these funds are held in reserve and not used to help relieve the debt, but now is not the time. That is the problem with our nation which is too short an attention span.
