“Utter nonsense.
The GOAL of an NFL season is to WIN THE SUPER BOWL.
It is NOT to win every single game - if putting ones best players at risk in the final weeks (when one is assured of the playoffs) significantly lowers ones chances of attaining that end.
ANYTHING that is done to increase ones chances of winning the SUPER BOWL is completely sportsmanlike - and rational.
Just as occasionally intentionally walking a great batter is perfectly legal, sportsmanlike, and rational.”

“The goal of an NFL team may be to win the Super Bowl, but the goal of any legitimate competitor is to win each and every competition. What does that say about the legitimacy of the NFL?
By the way, the goal in intentionally walking a batter is to win that game, not to set yourself up to win some World Series fantasy that may or may not ever come about.”

“Yeah, the cargo section would be a good idea for immature mothers like yours. Children have tons of energy. Where do you expect them to put it when they have to fly. I remembered when my son was an infant and all I was concerned about and prayed about was that my baby didn't scream and cry all the way over seas. He usually wake up allot during the night. As it turned out he slept the whole way and people stopped by to see the baby that was on board. There was another child on board to and he was very good. On the way back 3 years later my child had a hard time. Our plane took off late, arrived late at NY and we waited an hour for our connecting plane only to find out there wasn't a plane to get all of us who were on the same plane. Needless to say by the time they got another pilot in from DC to NY we finally made it home at 2:00 am. I thanked god I had a fold up stroller. My 3 year old was pretty active in the airport by the time we got on our plane for the final run he fell asleep from exhaustion. People expect to much of little children. Even the best of parents sometimes loose it. Believe me parents don't want their children misbehaving either. People should try to be patient and maybe help.”

“I empathize - but eBay gets several tens of thousands of new placements every day.
Just how do you propose checking every single one? Even assuming all placements were brief, it would require a full-time workforce of several thousand employees.
Which the company cannot afford to hire and remain in business.
Which is why much of the online activity has to be SELF-REGULATING.
I see no problem with offenders being flagged and barred for life. Maybe 1 in 1000 will slip through the cracks, but one does not dismantle an entire industry because 100% of offensive auctions are not prevented.
But I do understand your point.”

“"Rich erases Tiger and Obama's accomplishments"
Obama has accomplished amazing things.
But please don;t confuse knocking a little ball around a glorified pasture an 'accomplishment'. Please ave that word for teachers, police, firefighters, construction workers, and any of a hundred other professions where something of actual value is engaged in and perfected.
To include 'golf' in that group is to devalue the group beyond reason. And makes Rich's point perfectly. The admiration and elevation of inconsequential pasttimes to a status they do not merit.”

“The issue is not golf, it is Tiger Woods playing golf. Tiger Woods sits on a perch, the opportunity to reach has historically been denied to men of his color. His accomplishments are of the non-pariel sort, and his name stands with the giants of that sport. Whether or not you care about golf,
it is of significance in many other nations than the US. Tiger is international, literally and figuratively.
Barack Obama inhabits a position wherein he is also the first of a kind. He did that in Tiger like fashion as well. There are those who would denigrate the accomplishments of both men simply because they are the wrong color for such accomplishments. The whole point is that it is a grossly pitiable stance to take. Not only is it out of touch with reality, it is a waste ot the rational world's, as little as that may number, time.”
