“The founding fathers wanted one body 0f the legislature to be the protector of property, the rich, and the Senate has done their job exceedingly well for all of these years. You are right. We are no longer a true democracy if we ever were. And I taught government for over 30 years. What a waste.

We should remind our congressional right-wingin' holy rollers WHAT JESUS WOULD DO. Call 'em out on their hypocrytical holier-than-thow (so-called) "Christian values". They'll do anything to protect wallets... be it their own or those of their constituents, including letting people die without health insurance (forget grandma!--your whole family is in jeopardy!!) Whoever said the rethugs care about those aged 65+ and the unborn--after that, you're on your own--hit the nail on the head. Very sad, yet very true indeed.”

“Well we tried the "presidential system" and it is a flop. It has a few good features but it is designed to favor the rich. So why are we surprised when it succeeds (2% of the population own as much as the bottom 90%). If we accept that that is the way it goes we might as well stop this charade of elections and voting. It is like the odds in Vegas, the house will win.
But I still like the idea of Democracy. So before I give up completely, I think we ought to try the Parliamentary system. Most or all of the countries that seem to be doing better than we are are Parliamentary democracies so we should give it a try. No more Alaska 2 votes and California 2 votes in the senate. And on and on-------
We need a long discussion on this idea.”

If they play bait and switch with me one more time, this will be my last vote period.
I seriously doubt that this is a democracy any more and a failure to pass a good health care bill will
prove it beyond any doubt.”

“If Obama gets a strong health care bill with a strong public option, he will move into the top 5 Presidents immediately. And he still has a lot of time to do a lot of other good things.
But if he fails to get a good health care bill I think he will be considered a failure and will be a one termer.
Too bad. I think he has more talent than any other President we have had.”
