Obama Has Earned the Nobel

Commented Oct 19, 2009 at 21:08:46 in World

“.
Well, it is aspirational and inspirational when a black man wins a fair and open election in a country that continues to have an uneasy relationship with ethnic diversity. We Americans should be proud of the accomplishment instead of being divided [as usual] among political, ideological, and racial lines about it. It's amusing that conservative Republican thoughts on this prestigious award are aligned with the Taliban, Hamas, and an assortment of non-US pundits that the Republicans would otherwise hold in contempt.

Congratulations, President Obama. Well done. You have unified a host of enemies who are upset that you won the Nobel Peace Prize. Well done, indeed.

Hmmm - would the JB resignation be an empty gesture or the beginning of the left and the right clashing to the point of not getting other initiatives dealt with?

If there were to be a resignation, timing will matter because of the 2010 elections.

Other blowback considerations?

Dobbs would be better received at Fox. Some of us avoid Fox because of the distorted infortainment and don't want to bump up against that nonsense through our preferred other media outlets.

Dobbs victimizes. His perception of a so-wanna be victim status is crocodile tears.

This is not a good time for illegals to be protesting their desire to have their illegal status changed.
Their time to make their case by protest is not now. If they must, I hope that the protests do not take place in states where it is legal to openly carry firearms.

After NY Times was involved in being an outlet for boosh propaganda, especially in the outting of Valarie Plame, I stopped bothering to read it on a regular basis.

Keith and Rachel are my staple opinion sources. Notice, l did not indicate news, I indicated opinion.

Keith constantly rips into Fox News' inability to be fair or balanced.

Rachel deconstructs the nonsense that clouds the poltical picture. I don't mind that she giggles when she does it. The "talk me down" segment is always enlightening.

Baldwin likes who he likes and reads whatever. Not my problem and I have no issues. On the other hand, he can't should on me about reading NY Times. I'm not having it.

Towards the end of the general election, people attending McCain-Palin rallies were whipped into a nasty fury and making inaccurate, scary comments. Some of what they were saying was repeated from what they heard on the radio and watched on television as well as what was being said during the rallies. So much chaotic thinking arises from poor or incorrect analysis of current events. Adding insult to injury, a network like Fox News has been proved to be a publica relations outlet for the Bush administration's propaganda. There was nothing to balance that disinformation.

An individual's basic instincts are encouraged by their access to like thinking groups. Limbaugh thinks about how he molds the thinking of his listeners when he useds the term "sheeple". "Sheeple" reflects the herd mentality of his ditto heads. The Fairness Doctgrine can't fix this.

"The Bush Recession" -- Let's Call it What It Is

Commented Feb 17, 2009 at 13:49:09 in Politics

“.
In the near term, we are phucced.

We are in the Bush recession and, yes, it should be referred to as such. The enactment of the economic stimulus package comes too late to mitigate the economic harm that has been done and that will continue as it's own life force due to its tie in to global economiies.

Even if Republicans successfully market economic blame as belonging to the Democratics during the next election cycle, they still won't have anything positive ideas to put forward about how they would end the devastion that they helped to come to fruition by rubber stamping Bush's policies, inclduing funding for the costly invasion of Iraq.

It seems, thevoicereason, that you are using this forum to make a defense for the perp and taht defense is that we should not believe the technology that recorded the event.

Intent is not the issue but if lawyers can turn this horrorific event into a mascarade about intent the perp will likely go free.

Overdog and like-thinking people: the journalist would not thrown his shoes at Saddam even if his family and pets were safely hidden out of the country. Duh-uh!!

Bush was speaking to a small, vetted group of journalists in a small room with the expectation for the adulation that he has received thus far on his revisionist speech tours. None of us, least of all, Bush, expected someone would be so angry and so grieved that he would dare to tell the emperor to his face that his rhetoric is not acceptable.

I grieve for the loss of our men and women as well. We don't dare behave in a similar fashion because we can be disappeared just like in the Saddam regime. Remember, no habeas corpus? constitution lite?

Apologists and toadying sycophants like some of the usual posters, here, merely prove that though Bush is a solipsist in every meaning of the word, he still has lots of little "excusers" as he sets about grimly spilling his seed on what he hopes is fertile soil trying to grow an eventual positive legacy...ground he's been "fertilizing" for the past eight years!

The real deal is that Hillary as candidate would need Obama supporters. I genuinely wonder whether we would be so upset about Hillary's camp pulling off a coup at the convention that we would rather see the dems crash and burn in November.

In any case, our memories are long. If the dems lose in November with Obama, we will not look favorably upon the Clintons in 2012. We will find another to support and to thwart the coronation of the Clintons yet again.

“MSM's talking heads actually behave offended when anybody wants to explore how the McCain military record relates to any aspect of public policy.

Wes Clark is right that being shot down and held prisoner does not equate to being skilled at being a US president, or having dometics policies or having foreign policies. If former POW status brings insight to public policy, then McCain needs to specifically identify the relevant connections.”
