“I am so ashamed of the example our political leaders have set during this presidency. I naively expected better from them by showing more respect for their own positions. Their example has put a dark shadow on all government leadership that will not soon go away. The harvest reaped from what our leaders have sown can only become a weak and bitter one that we'll all regret.”

“Yes I know that's why I didn't say ship him "back", we can try and just ship him. We can make his port the middle of the ocean for all I care about him. Cruz Jr is Canadian, I'd rather send him 90 miles in the opposite direction though.”
“Wow, I didn't know that Cuba discriminated among Cubans based on skin color.”

“It's not just Cuba. It's Brazil and lots of other South American countries. Their racism is similar to ours but with fewer laws to combat it.”

In general however you find in many South American Caribbean, Latin American and so forth countries that were colonized by the Spanish and Portuguese there exists a racism historically just as bad or in some cases worse than anything found in the United States.
Basically the more European one's ancestry or looks the higher social status. This goes from Brazil to Havana. It was the Spanish that started the whole "quadroon" and other nonsense to distinguish persons by the amount of African blood.
The Spanish and Portuguese obviously all came from Europe. Whereas the Blacks were imported slave labor. To be more "European" looking is seen as having direct links to that place.
If you watch Spanish or Latin American television you'll notice a bulk of the actors and actresses are white/European looking, When you do see blacks they are often maids, domestic workers, etc... Usually the oft darker woman will have long straight hair (weaves) and or have a certain mixed race features about her.”
“Former President Clinton just gave his opinion on all of this. He said Obama should change the law, if necessary, to allow everybody to keep what they had before since that is what he promised. I agree with that. If that should happen, I will be watching to see what the insurance companies do with that.”
“How did educating our children become so complicated? For the last few decades, our nation and our individual state has adopted some sort of new requirement that has done little to improve the education our children have been able to display. Because of these constant changes, an individual student is unable to go from K thru 12 without being exposed to different ideologies. I know that technologies have changed things, but the basics remain the same. Why are other countries adapting so well, while we continue to drop lower and lower?”

“because the American people are the only spoiled society that truly believes that the Govt can make everything "fair" for everyone so that we can all be "equal".
I tell my children, "Life is NOT like the Disney Channel!"….wish our politicians and overall society would learn this so we can stop trying to "measure" individuals among a statistical "average"”
“Touki, come on! Face reality! Insurance is an evil farce to
begin with! Most of our laws are built on lies to make us commoners believe
that we are cared about. I'm old enough to remember when health insurance
wasn't needed or required. Medical care was out-of-pocket and affordable albeit
inconvenient and insufficient at tmes! We're not meant to live forever, no
matter how much we want to, and that is what helped to create health insurance
in the first place. Purchasing health insurance over state lines will NOT make
the price drop. Don't you see that these companies will find a way to make high
profits either way? Existing health plans needed to change! Ocare was at least
a start, and if changes to it need to be made that's fine, but it won't make
the business end of it benefit the majority of the consumers. As to those
closed-door single party meetings on both sides, we haven't seen one better
alternative from the GOP side except for McCain's and his own party beat that
down! Get real!”

“I'll tell you what "reality" I face little kokopelli. I'm in the middle of treatment for breast cancer and I'll lose all my Drs. And, if you think insurance costs were bad under insurance companies, just wait until this takes full effect and the 'majority' of people's fees skyrocket.
I'm a simple Independent and the Dems have pissed me off - something I don't need in the middle of cancer treatment. I'll thank them in my own way - at the ballot box. Squawk all you want as our numbers grow. How's that for getting real?
PS: the reason you haven't seen the other alternatives is because you have been too star-struck to look and listen.”
