Roberto Unger, Obama's Former Harvard Law School Professor, Says The President 'Must Be Defeated'

Commented Jun 17, 2012 at 09:31:04 in Business

“...and no Third party has a VIABLE chance of winning in this system...Get IRV...rinse, repeat...get IRV!!!
Work on it NOW so by NEXT election we can get something more PROGRESSIVE!”

jmpurser on Jun 17, 2012 at 09:33:33

“And neither of the two major parties is a VIABLE choice for the Left.  As long as you support corporatists because they are the Lesser Evil you will only have evil and corporatists to vote for.  If you want change then CHANGE.”

Roberto Unger, Obama's Former Harvard Law School Professor, Says The President 'Must Be Defeated'

Commented Jun 17, 2012 at 09:28:48 in Business

“I think what she meant was "Viable" as far as electability. There is no one elese right now, and if we EVER want to get out of the Two-party rut we need IRV...Instant Runoff Voting, so people can have a second choice to buffer their Third-party first choice and avoid the 'spoiler effect"...like how we got Bush etc etc instead of Nader... or at least, Gore.”

jmpurser on Jun 17, 2012 at 09:36:15

“And my point is "viable" shouldn't just mean "can win elections".  It should mean something we can live with.  What's the point of "winning" an election by losing what you wanted from the election?”

“...Not all Southern States ...we here in Maine got ourselves a Tea Party Guv'ner, Le Page, who got in on barely over 1/3 of the votes mostly because the vote was split between the Dem and the Independent; if we had IRV that would NOT have happened!
LePlague, indeed!
The Tea Party folks are the ones the "Party of the Rich" have used historically to get out the Numbers at election time, having been duped enough to shoot themselves in the foot over those single-issue hot-buttons the Repugs use so well, like Guns and Abortion, Gays , etc.
About the only really characteristic they have that really distinguishes them from REAL Conservatives and the Neocon Old-guard is that they aren't rich, but they ARE almost universally and WILL-fully IGNORANT!”

“Odd as it seems, sometimes when the stomach isn't getting enough acid, it over-compensates and becomes too acidic. So, yes, a little friendly acid...like a pickle (choose homemade with cider vinegar) can correct this.

Also, remember that desease, even cancer, does not grow in an alkaline environment, and most people are too acidic. Everything you do that's bad for you (Smoking, drinking, stress, bad diet, even AGE), makes you more acidic. A much-overlooked,simple, safe and CHEAP (which is why you don't hear it advertised, like Prilosec, etc) remedy is to take a pinch (about 1/4 Teaspoon ) of plain old baking soda in water every day (or keep your own personal little jar of it by the sink, dip a wet finger in and put in your mouth, followed by a glass of water. If it gets funky, throw it out: it's cheap!)
Most people feel immediately better after a few moments (and often a few burps), but most importantly, it "resets" your PH to a much healthier level throughout your system.”

maglindracia on May 18, 2010 at 08:51:00

“not me, that's a recipe for disaster! so is the pickle, lol. half the time pickles will kill my stomach, all of the time baking soda and water will make me vomit. I don't know why this is, if i eat a saltine (soda) cracker I don't do this.”

“Your handle caught my eye.

My daughter was just diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the upper intestine, after having been told for years it was colitus. Because the pains were lower down, they never looked in the upper GI, and her colonoscopies came back normal. Meanwhile a 1" tumor was growing in her upper intestine, which they operated out along with 12cm of the u intestine.
Please be sure you only have IBS, not a cancer growing!
It is certainly true that what you put in your mouth every day has the biggest single influence on your health.”

“Nothing is proven..it's all a distortion, courtesy of our Reichwing media.
When they tell you MOST Americans are against "Obamacare" they never tell you that includes all those Progressives who don't want it because what they really wanted was Single-payer, or at least a robust Public Option!
I canceled our policy this year and decided to go shopping...found out in Maine there are only TWO options for insurance companies, mine (Mega) and Anthem, which I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole after their outrageously greedy attempt to sue the state of Maine to be able to charge customers more! (12% profit in a recession obviously not enough for THEM!) so I had to go crawling back to Mega before my cancellation took hold.
..It's not really Health Insurance, you see, since it's a $4000 deductible we probably won't use again THIS year, since we're very healthy...it's HOUSE Insurance, so if there IS an accident, they can't take our house!
It's an Extortion racket and Obama knows it; everyone in Congress knows it, and certainly the People know it!
We have been sold a shoddy bill of goods by hucksters and bribe-takers and now we are to be mandated to buy their crap!?
It's going to take alot more than anti-trust regulations and voting to pull these criminals in line!”

“Still obsessing on Chavez, are you?

Get a clue: He was DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED, by the PEOPLE, not the Corporations....TWICE!!...the last time, after Bushboy and his Neocons tried to engineer a faux "Coup", and the PEOPLE rose up and re-installed him.
Did you miss that little bit of history, GOP?

We should be so lucky if Obama was ANYWHERE NEAR as effective as Chavez has been in returning the wealth of his land to the People, after Amurkan Oil interests tried to take over their country.
THAT is a real LEADER, in a real DEMOCRACY!”

“"Free speech" (for whom? only the rich?) has NOTHING to do with what's happening here. Money always talks louder than the most sensible voice, and that's what a coporatocracy is.
Ideally, there should be NO CAMPAIGN ADS AT ALL allowed on the media, REPLACED by extensive and comprehensive DEBATES instead, aired regularly on most major channels, involving ALL candidates, not just those from the Two Big Piggy Parties.
Make the Media offer the debates as the "Public Service" they are still mandated to give us!

As it is, the Media, using OUR AIRWAVES (remember?) rakes in obscene profits every election season from Campaign ads that are at best misleading and often tasteless and slanderous. They do nothing but profit from the dissolution of our Democracy.
Yes, the public should be informed, but that's not the aim of the ads, really, is it?

And that's where most of this filthy Campaign Lucre has to go, isn't it?
To pay for these stupid ads that only dis-inform and disgust. Get rid of them. Make candidates go door to door again, get their feet back on the ground. (If Coakley had done that instead of acting like an elitist snob, she would have won.)”

But now corporations will "Own" our elections too...and YOU are carping about Chavez!?

“We need a peoples' REFERENDUM on this Healthcare Reform!
It's obvious that Congress will screw this up, and we will be left with no Public Option, and WORSE if we are mandated to buy insurance from these pigs!

Every one of them in Congress should be made to sign publicly whether they consider Health Care a Human Right or a For-Profit Commodity, and held accountable for their decision. You can't have it both ways!

What we need to insist on, NOW, in time for THIS November, is a national referendum on the subject of Health Care and Insurance, with a clear choice for Single-payer.
We KNOW our Congress, with few exceptions, is bought-and-sold. They have defaulted on their duties to us and shown us they are nothing but Corporate Whores.

LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!”
