Does Death Exist?: Life Is Forever, Says Theory

Does Death Exist?: Life Is Forever, Says Theory

“"In fact, scientists recently published a landmark experiment in Science showing that flipping a switch could retroactively change an event that had already happened in the past."

Really? What event was that? The light being turned on? Sheesh.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, what does that have to do with our lives as we know them? That ends when our bodies die.

Btw, Bugs Bunny never swallowed nitro and gunpowder and he never got flattened by anything. Bug Bunny always won. If you're going to use something to illustrate a point, learn the subject. Otherwise you just look stupid.”

“Actually, he is referencing an actual scientific experiment, replicated many times. It has to do with quantum theory and electrons going through a beam splitter, its one of the amazing things in quantum theory (which as you probably know deals with the smallest sub atomic behavior) that you can construct an experiment where an event now determines something in the past. Briane Greene had an excellent description of all this in The Elegant Universe. The problem is it has nothing to do with all this "is there no death" speculation.”

I'll give the author the benefit of a doubt and guess that's his intention.”

“"In Switzerland, consumers have a choice of several non-profit payers and can see any doctor or go to any hospital to get care."

"several non-profit payers "

"non-profit"

THAT would be the difference. Healing is supposed to be a noble profession, not a profession designed to get one the biggest house and fastest car. Making a living is a hell of a lot different than making a profit from the misery and suffering of others.”

jsarets replied on Sep 09, 2009 at 16:19:50

“You'd think that non-profit is the biggest factor, but I assure you that collective negotiation is more important.

Collective negotiation puts downward pressure on costs. Profit is a fraction of those costs. It's a significant fraction, but it's a fraction nonetheless.”

They started to expand NATO to Russia's borders.

“Vinyl necessarily has less sonic information imbedded in it than a live performance of the same music. CD's have less information than a vinyl recording of the same piece. MP3's have less information on them than CD's.

Mellencamp, in what you perceive as roaring egotism, is merely pointing out the inarguable reality that so-called technological "improvements" represent instead a degradation of the musical experience for the listener, which not coincidentally, mirrors the degradation of the business and creative aspects of the music industry.

You have unintentionally announced yourself as being the equivalent of what is known on other threads here as a low-information voter. Congrats!

“Obama never said he was going to be bi-partisan. He said he was going to work with both parties to find solutions. "Tax cuts" and "less regulation" are not solutions. Y'all need to realize that conservatism is a failed ideology. "You're on your own" doesn't cut it with real people who have real emotions and can empathize with the pain of the downtrodden. Republicans need to start connecting with real people instead of spouting the same old tired bullshit. Humans need to help one another, otherwise we will go the way of the dinosaur.”

“People who think crying "I want it all and I want it NOW" accomplishes ANYTHING are what gives real liberals a bad name. You radicals are just as authoritarian as the conservatives you hate so much. You focus so much vitriol and spend so much energy on one or two specific issues that you don't take the time to see the larger picture and that it's not just a matter of cramming laws down people's throats constantly, but of opening their hearts and minds to what is right. Obama is a real progressive, who understands that people have to have the right mindset in order to accomplish what needs to be done. All that YOU accomplish with YOUR poison is putting "a little steel in the spine of a handful of sore loser, obstructionist bent GOP house members".”

“And just what "ideas" have come from Michael Moore? Michael Moore is a COMMENTATOR on the human condition who criticizes the right but never articulates what he believes is the correct view. Obama actually thinks about what needs to be done and acts upon it. There is definitely nothing 'center" about his ideas. Course, there really is no "center" anyway, just a whole bunch of people who use different ways of looking at different issues.”

“When we get over the air internet for free with the new 'open' band width sold to Verizon I hardly think anyone can complain. This is an extremely positive change. This needs to be done, and I think it is a huge mistake to put it off. Not only does the digital signal give much better quality TV, it in fact will be the only thing that can save Broadcast. Broadcast will be able to support more stations/clear stations and people may stop wasting money on cable. Of course this may hurt the cable companies in the long run... the $40 needed for the box will hardly break most peoples bank, waiting for the cross over will break the broadcast stations back and hurt the new owners of the other bandwidth.”
