How Happy Is... Losing A Baby
Commented Dec 15, 2009 at 16:23:51 in Living
“Sophie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I too lost a baby, but she was 11 months old. You stated something that I have had to learn the hard way...
"My husband also had a feeling at this point that something was going wrong but didn't say anything as the doctor seemed adamant about getting the job done. And, many of you might be able to relate to this, but in a doctor's surgery it is really easy to go against instinct and not question a doctor while he is working."
I lost my daughter due to an unfortunate mistake that could have been prevented had I listened to my instincts. Like your husband I felt things were wrong, but said nothing. I also went on to have another child, a boy who is 8 years old now, and although I never stop thinking about that other child I do look at my son and realize if it happened differently he would not be here, and he has been a joy. So congratulations to you Sophie on your new child.”

Anatomy Of The Tea Party Movement

“I applaud your post, very well stated Eris. You deserve everything for serving your country and that is as it should be. There should never be any shame for wanting the government to give back what we as americans so generously give to them. I've felt this for a long time.. I'm tired of paying for a bad bill of goods that I get from this country, yet here are the teabaggers telling the government, no thanks?”

“I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but I will say that it's a very disorganized group of individuals. Some make over 500,000 a year and there are those making less than 40,000 a year annually. These are the fringe elements from both sides of the parties, both dems and republicans who are squeaky wheels. I'm telling you, the extremists from both sides have hijacked this country and taken it over with their noise. The middle americans are the majority but they need to speak up and over these teabaggers.”

“Those on the lower socio economic ladder that vote against their self interest do so on socially moral grounds. Fiscal conservativism doesn't really interest them, it's too deep. Rather they vote on being socially conservative than fiscally conservative. They would cut off their nose to spite their face for their morals.”

“My husband took our son to get a swine flu shot at a community sponsored flu clinic. They waited for over an hour and a half in line. That's how many people needed the help, not to mention we have private insurance that we pay for and couldn't get the vaccine (unbelievable). You think I would be upset that people with no insurance can get something that I cant, but I am not. I am appalled that my insurance company and my doctors group could not do it. Who knows, maybe it was out of their hands, but it is interesting to see how many people cannot afford insurance with the loss of jobs going on. Children should never have to be without healthcare.”

“He received the shot and he is fine, no symptoms. Nobody I know who had the vaccine has been sick yet.”

“Check out the website for NVIC. Your son may be lucky he didn't get that shot.
Both of my kids were harmed by their vaccines (not swine flu).”

“Thank you, but you really haven't answered my question. Of course, I'm looking for the black and white answer. Which is really not like me, but I thought I would go ahead and sound conservative for a change. You quoted the constitution, that's great, but why the drama now? What changed for tea partiers that motivated them all of a sudden? Don't tell me the constitution because that's been around since the beginning of this country. And Ann, if I want to bring up the past administration I certainly will because it begs an answer that has not been forthcoming yet.”

“I will give you one....
The constitution of the United States drawn in 1776 is one of the awsome documents designed by men to govern themselves. The constitution was not designed for the President to own the productive capacity of the country, it was designed so that the states could operate independently and collectively under a federal government but that the power came from the people who would control their own lives.
Now there are many different groups whose aim is at different parts of the constitution or their aims are directed at a government who is out of control, and the controling authority is the Constitutional, "We the The People"
____
Some people believe tea party goers are all one group.
1. Do a little bit of research on the tea party movement, there is a group in every major city of the United States.
2. then identify the different groups that are involved in the protests, these groups may not necessarily attend tea party group meetings.
3. then do some reading in each groups literature, websites, etc... you will see certain beliefs that seem to be shared by all of them.
The best news is that most of the groups, putting aside some details they may disagree on, have decided to work together and respectfully.”

“the independents will not flock to a party that continues to make buffoons out of themselves. I agree that they should not be underestimated, but let's give independents some credit for brains. They are not easily swayed people, but I do know many many of them who voted for Obama or not at all in the last election because of the a$$ hattery they saw on the republican side. Even if Obama does not live up to some of their ideals will they vote republican, but the worry is they will stay home and not vote at all ( which they have been know to do).”

“exactly! but to be fair I won't deny that some financial prudence is necessary. The whole "got to have my cake and eat it too" doesn't really work. You can't cut taxes then ask the government for help with medicare, social security and homeless shelters. They would love to cut welfare, but have no solutions.”

“You can't have it all, meaning you can't have less taxes and privatization unless there are companies and small businesses willing to pay a large wage to americans so they can afford to buy the things they need, i.e. health care, private education, etc etc. Problem is, that hasn't been happening for a long time and it has been a slow build up to where we are today. Republicans love to give corporate raiders all the power and they in turn look for the least overhead and will go to any extreme to get it so they can profit. I agree with you that some social programs need to be re-evaluated, but who makes that decision? The far right and the far left and they just go round and round on those issues and nothing is ever resolved. More common sense is needed in government, but the tea baggers do themselves a disservice by acting like petulant kooks. Some tact, common sense, and intelligence would be the best thing they could do to get their points across.”
