Harkin: Michael Steele Is Redefining The Word Obnoxious

“The bill which has yet to be finalized and must be reconciled with the one passed in the House covers more people and depending on which bill you read curbs the insurance company abuses including "previous conditions" and canceling policies when people get a serious illness.
As for being unconstitutional: you are NOW worried about the constitution after Bush lied about warrantless wiretaps and torture? How constitutional was THAT? Where were you then?
According to Steele just the thought of trying to do anything about our current healthcare system is an obscene gesture, so I guessing the republicants have nothing to offer but obstruction of anything and everything. How very partisan of them to offer no solutions to an obviously growing crisis.”

“Only in the GOP universe is trying to reform a broken, wasteful and inefficient healthcare system that regularly bankrupts or kills thousands of Americans an obcene gesture to the American people.
One can infer from the republicants' actions that they believe the American people deserve less healthcare quality and coverage than the rest of the civilzed world.”

You do know what happens when poor people or illegal immigrants go to the ER for treatment?
They are treated and discharged and when they can't or don't pay the bill the hospital and the physican's medical group pass that onto the cost for people with insurance and your taxes help subsidize the hospital's charity care.
Joke's on you. You're ALREADY paying for other people's healthcare.
Reforming the system just might make what you now pay less.”

President Obama was correct to exclude him from the meetings he had with other heads of State. He's just another dumb conservative. I hope he looses the next election and we can send him into obscurity. “McCAIN: I’ve been around here 20-some years. First time I’ve ever seen a member denied an extra minute or two to finish his remarks. … I just haven’t seen it before myself.
On October 10, 2002 — just ahead of the looming mid-term elections — the Senate rushed a debate on a war authorization giving President Bush the power to use force against Iraq. During the course of the frenzied floor debate, then-Sen. Mark Dayton (D-MN) spoke in favor of an amendment offered by Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) that would have restricted Bush’s constitutional powers to wage war against Iraq. After a minute and a half, Dayton ran out of time, prompting this exchange:
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator’s time has expired.
Mr. DAYTON. I ask for unanimous consent that I have 30 seconds more to finish my remarks.
Mr. McCAIN. I object.

I know, we'll call this group/organization "lobbyists".
Now if only they could get the supreme court to equate the spending of money with free speech the rich people would finally be heard (above all others).”

“Where is the edge? And what's on the other side?”
CNYObamaFan replied on Dec 21, 2009 at 20:05:04
“The edge is the furthest we can see, since it's 13.7 billion light years away, and since the big bang, time has only had 13.7 billion years to travel. Cosmic inflation only makes things even more complicated, but we can't see any further until enough time has passed in the universe to allow light to travel to us from further away.”
malindeman replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 00:02:19
“That sphere that has those colored blobs on it is a map of radiated heat in the early universe at those locations (but from a time when the universe was filled with hot gas that only later made the stars). We cant look much further back than that because the gas gets opaque before that time. Those fluctuations in temperature arose from tiny quantum scale fluctuations near the beginning time of our universe and were blown up to cosmic size by the inflation (expansion) of the universe. A First mapping of those (using the COBE satillite ~1993) resulted in a Nobel prized for John Mather at NASA/GSFC and others. The pattern of those blobs confirmed a prediction of the inflation model (WMAP satillite) Future space missions aim to look for gravity waves signals the blobs. (Surely another nobel prized waiting.)
We don't know if the universe extends on forever, if it curves around in a big circle, or if the laws of nature very different at much further location. All we can say is the the universe continues on the same as it is here in all directions as far as we can see.”
