“Indeed. Washington D.C.is a business. The Beltway Think Tanks are a business. The two political parties are a business. The Pentagon and their suppliers are a business. War and the taking of the lives of American male and female soldiers, sailors, airman, and marines for pure manufactured propaganda baloney generation after generation is a business. Our entire political culture with the corporate media is a business. Our elections are a business. There is no deeper level of anything else going on whatsoever. It is all for money plain and simple. When are people going to start to grasp the truth of this? The MIC and their bankers run the entire Government of United States. The gamed Washington programs that came out of the New Deal and the Great Society and everything Federal ever since are a business. Everything is gamed and everything is for the benefit of the insiders of the Eastern Establishment and their corporate oligarchy. This has been the entire gamed system since WWII. There is no government for the citizenry of the nation who work and save and give their sons and daughters to be destroyed on the Aztec Pyramid. So Judgment Day has come. How much longer can this situation be allowed to go on?”

“Two members of my family just spent eight years in Afghanistan on the ground. They both speak fluent Farsi and Dari. Their knowledge of the Afghan people goes back almost 45 years. If the American people knew the truth of what took place in Afghanistan over the last eight years they would be in the streets. The mismanagement of Bushco was beyond criminal. Obama is still a prisoner of the Beltway Think Tank PhD. Complex. I hope my sister writes a book.

Yes. I have given up. There is no hope whatsoever that Obama's policy will work. Zero.”

“You are indeed correct in your analysis. The politics of Afghanistan are ethnic. There must be great nuance in everything we do. But our ham fisted U.S. Government MIC Beltway Think Tank policy makers and professional U.S. military are NOT up to it. It is a failure of our educational system since WWII. We do NOT produce thinkers of any actual operational skill level in official policy. We just don't have it.

But we cannot completely abandon Afghanistan either after shamelessly using them in the Soviet War like we did under Clinton that allowed the warlords to fight a civil war that eventually brought the Taliban to power in the chaos in the first place. But sending 40,000 troops NOW after all this neglect will only make matters worse. The war was lost in 2005-2006 under Bushco when the neocon "Iraq-Centric" policy of neglect went to the tipping point. The war is lost, people. But many will now die on both sides because we are a nation of idiots led by idiots.

This fate was all sealed in the 1980's when all of you Johnny-Come-Latelys to Afghanistan here on HP were going to discos and sleeping your lives away. The first shoe to drop was 9/11. The second to drop will be a thermonuclear car bomb in NYC within the next 50 years. It will happen. It is too late to stop now.”

“I think this will be the test case if the collusion between Wall Street and Washington D.C. is rational for the rest of the country that are NOT insiders in the gamed system. The AIG situation is very telling, If there is no investigation then that tells you everything you need to know about the fate of this nation and the resulting fate of your children and grandchildren who will have been sold into corporatist and MIC slavery forever. This is a supreme moment in the history of the United States. Jill M. Considine, Chester B. Feldberg, and Douglas L. Foshee have to remember the soldiers of this nation who died in the hope of a better future for all. They must do the right thing and rule for absolute transparency so that the true facts can be ascertained and justice rendered for the future financial safety and well being of all. If this is allowed to pass in courts of law and in the halls of government, then there is going to be deep revolution in the United States. I hope it is in political organization at the ballot box. After the horrendous 20th Century I honestly do not think people wish to act through violence. I think it will be peaceful (thank God!). But it is definitely coming. People have had enough. The status quo cannot go on any longer.”

I agree that collusion is now the MO between Wall Street and Washington DC. The next great epic fall, should it occur (revelations that the Fed, Treasury have no idea what the financial structure is, devaluing of the dollar past redemption, further implosion of housing, and decades of a jobless recovery with the US Treasury finally drying up the printing press), will evoke a revolution.”

Have We Forgotten How To March?

Commented Dec 19, 2009 at 13:49:51 in Business

“I agree. I think two things are going to happen. Obama's words are going to have less and less of an effect on people as the see the insurmountable corporatist terminal grid lock on the hopes of the people. There will be various vortex communities of grievance in the big three of Wall Street, Afghanistan, and Health Care. The question is if they will have ANY cunning? Right now it does NOT look like the American people themselves have any cunning. It is all bloviating hot air.The Teabaggers themselves get an absolute "F" for smarts! They can't even spell right on their signs in the Age of Spellcheck! Duh! But what about everyone else? Whoever gets mobilized cunning going using the Internet may start an eruption. The tools are there. But the coalitions will have to form locally everywhere first. I think it will happen. It will be very slow to organize over time but once it does it will change American politics forever. It is coming. I think it will start with daily protests in the neighborhoods of where the Wall Street gods live broadcast on the Internet live worldwide bypassing the corporate media. Let people stand in the street before their houses in silent prayer. let them do so before their corporate headquarters. Let them be followed everywhere they go by the citizenry. I think this will start to happen.”

I like this one and believe it has promise. I had been thinking about round-the-clock protests in front of their estates.

The internet has immense potential but certainly needs structure and focus. Still, seeing how Obama got $500-600 million online in a short period is impressive.”

“Thank you for the kind words. I have been thinking a lot about those lonely and forlorn places of death lately. I have been trying to sense the darkened cauldron there. The current silence is deafening. It is actually staggering. But I think it is quite understandable.

People are stunned at the turn around on Health Care, Afghanistan, and most of all, Wall Street. Wall Street is beyond the pale. Americans are on their knees having their faces rubbed in it every single day now.

So taken all together their hopes have taken a direct head punch in the ring and they are momentarily reeling. People knew in their gut that this election was are last chance before total collapse of our society into absolute ever accelerating free fall. I voted for Obama.. I still think he is a fine man. But the truth is dawning that the corporatist forces are too great to ever be overcome. So we are now on the course to see what death will manifest.”

lilyorabrown replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 14:09:53

“The song for your statement "The current silence is deafening" is "Sounds of Silence".

The only thing I cling to is the love I have for my family and a committment I recently made to live among those who are suffering. I sold my big house and alot of burdensome stuff and now like to live with ordinary folk and do what I can to help them out. And I enjoy doing what I can to stick it to the "corporatist forces". It's nice. I've also gone to places I never thought I would...like churches...and gotten to know the people. Their religion may be bat crazy, but they are our brothers and sisters and will be, soon, on the ropes, too.

You are right that we are on a "course to see what death will manifest". Let's make sure that we're there to help put the pieces back better this time. And take care of those we love. Blessings to you. We'll meet on the street some day.”

Have We Forgotten How To March?

“We have basically learned nothing in this country and time is running out on the clock. So we may all just as well go back to the one you mentioned until someone comes up with something better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBfjU3_XOaA

As the General said to Lieutenant Hern in Norman Mailer's "The Naked and the Dead" ... something to the effect "There is no question that we will win this war (World War II) but in order to defeat them we will have to become them." And that is pretty much what happened over the last 60 years. We have been led by spiritual dunces aping the German General Staff and trying to clone the mad men that took Japan to war. These people actually believed that we had actually won World War II! The truth, however, was that all we had won was the right to take a loaded gun and put it to our heads with the safety off. And so we have stumbled from catastrophe to catastrophe for 60 years of military blunder. Totally inept mis-managed use of military force by the clueless MIC trying to fight WWII over and over. It is beyond pathetic. And now it just got another shot in the arm by the political establishment”

HenryDavid replied on Dec 20, 2009 at 01:26:36

“I'm reminded of Catch-22, 1944, Italy, an old Italian man and Yossarian--the young American bombardier.

To paraphrase--
The old man asked Yossarian, "So, after you win the war, how long do you think the American Empire is going to last?"
Yossarian replied, "Oh, it will last forever. There's never been anything like it."
The old man smiled indulgently and said, "No. It will last a certain amount of time, like any of the empires which have come before it, and then it will fade away."”

“Your point is well taken. But there are other factors and other avenues in the mix this time out. The only people I know that lived their entire lives true to those pristine days of the 1960's were the anti-war veterans. I know many.

http://www.veteransforpeace.org/

The core people in any movement are the people that lived at the cosmic ground zero in the vortex. Then come the supporters of that viewpoint who are there spiritually. The core is always those who face death. There are genuine vortex communities that have faced death in all the the issues now taking us as a nation into the abyss 2010. Iraq and Afghan veterans. Healthcare professionals. The homeless. The unemployed. The growing destitute. The million homeless American children that now do not have a stable place to sleep every night. These are the places of death that will call forth a movement. .

Churches, beat clubs, college campuses, the factory union gate, the farm grange, rock bands in luminous spiritual fission, and veterans communities have all once been the fountainhead in American history. These are NOT the places now.

Where the new collective will form now of individual anger in the soul I do not know. But it will.

Meanwhile, if there is no new tune, I will just keep listening to some of the old ones.

HenryDavid replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 03:58:15

“HM,

First on offspring of the oligarchy--no, they won't be receiving the call to duty. I'm reminded of CCR singing, "I ain't no senator's son..."

On Eisenhower, I believe said the American people would never support a high war-time defense budget during times of peace. During his presidency he found out otherwise and must have decided to include that warning in his farewell address.

General Smedley Butler. I was glad to see you recommend him to others.. I learned of him several years ago. Reading his story, I thought, "Wow!" Multiple facets to admire. You and I as former soldiers can appreciate his military career alone. MG in the Marines, a half dozen wars and campaigns, two Medals of Honor (and lived through them), and other high bravery medals. Over 33 years active marine duty. That's a real soldier.

He retires from the corps to become a writer and speaker. And he's the encouraging force to the bonus army and their families. Then he opens with his opinions and attitudes welling up as he says, "War is a racket." "I was a gangster for capitalism." The joy of hearing him say that. in honesty and candor and ability. He cared. I see him as a hero. I'd love to have an hour walk with him.

Americans should know General Smedley Butler. He represents some of the best.
We could certainly use a few of him now...as we build a new prototype of a politician.”
