“I guess we finally did it - our government is now more corrupt than China's. The obviousness green technology presents as a solution to so many of our economic ills proves that graft and philosophy over ride patriotism and pragmatism every time. As soon as the government would announce an investment in green mass transit, like electric trams and high speed trains, the private sector would jump in to compete for a piece of the pie. We could create literally millions of jobs practically over night, not to mention creating the mass transit system this country sorely lacks. If I had the choice, I would gladly take a train to work, or even cross country, if they were like the northern European trains.
Then again, China has a distinct advantage; they are not trying to occupy two countries. Instead they are busy developing undeveloped nations in Africa to be their satellites, suppliers, and customers.”

“'Socialism' is the lobbyists' latest red herring. When you elect your government and pay for it with your taxes, you are supposed to get it to do things for you. When it does, it is 'democracy', not 'socialism'.”

“Yet most tea party protests are funded by right wing pacs, and were originally a joint venture between the backers, including Exxon, and several health insurance companies, and faux news. While i am sure you and your friends see yourselves as populists, your movement is indeed a corporate lobbyist propaganda exercise. And as someone whose family came here from 1930's Germany, please stop portraying the president as you-know-who.”

Vaccination: A Conversation Worth Having
Commented Nov 16, 2009 at 00:54:19 in Living
“Over 1/4 of the kids in the local middle school came down with H1N1. There has not been enough vaccine available here, so no one had been vaccinated yet. They are all fine. Also, statistically, more people will die this year from 'regular' flu than from H1N1. Hey, and speaking of pandemics, whatever happened to SARS and bird flu? Even Oprah was running scared from the inevitable bird flu pandemic.”

The Epidemic Of 'Medical Child Abuse' And What Can Be Done
Commented Nov 01, 2009 at 15:58:22 in Living
“Efficacy is completely subjective in American medicine. As I stated above, there was a study done on anti-depressants in 2002, and again in 2006, in which a sugar pill placebo had an equal effect to the actual med being tested. No one has come out prescribing sugar pills for depression, nor have they declared anti-depressants 'placebo quackery'. Why? Subjective opinion allowed to pass as fact in the name of money.”
qw3rty replied on Nov 01, 2009 at 16:31:20
“There are clear evidence-based guidelines underpinning american medicine and that you can point to some admittedly problematic exceptions only shows that you do not know what the word "completely" means.”
