“Obama can only commit to what we can deliver. That is part of the US approach to UN negotiations which is why the US can often not commit to things there.
Obama was pressured into going on the final day even though he didn't want to as he didn't think a final deal was possible. He's there and doing his best. The world leaders all wanted him there as a symbol of US active commitment to addressing this issue.
While I think the actual climate change deal they are trying to work out is not the best or most effective solution, I admire our President's commitment to this issue.
You can bet your booties W. would have never leant so much of the prestige and power of the Office of President to this issue. In fact, it was him that took us out of the Rio treaty. I'm so happy to see the US engaged once again as an international player in the international community instead of a pariah”
