Please refrain from generalized statements on the military when speaking on your personal opinion. We all have personal opinions but as a professional military force we are non-partisan and apolitical.”

“You probably missed the caption under the first photo, which says that HP mistakenly said it came from White House Black Market. The corrected information says Moschino, in which case Obama's piece is expensive. It's a great jacket and it looks great on her.
I don't care how much she spends on her clothes, as long as it is her money. Anyway, she's always mixed and matched expensive and inexpensive pieces.”

“Hipploytas' post is proof of the fact that these high end designer items become knock offs in the blink of an eye. "Trendy" clothes have a very short shelf life.. Since Mrs. O favors all kinds of clothes why not auction the trendy stuff off once or twice a year ? The proceeds could go to a scholarship fund for the girls in her mentor program... ? This would be a win - win for everybody.”

“1) Medicare and Medicade are borrowed from by the legislative branch to cover deficts in other areas
2) The USPS is an INDEPENDENT organization within the government and the third largest employer in the country. Basically at some point that chopped it up into private pieces and left the nominal regulation (the appoinment of the post master and trustees) to the government.
3) So...a couple of months is enough to determine how the stimulus is working regardless of the fact that MOST projects haven't started or in bidding phase?
4) Sure take FedEx...$5 0 bucks to deliver the same package for $20 with USPS. You allowed to purchase service from other companies. You have the option for special packages.. . but who handles your day to day mail? It's not FedEx so why are you complaining?
5) My healthcare, as a military member, works out pretty well and I don't see Congress complaining about theirs (which is what the public option will be modeled off of).
6) My final, and most important, point...if you don't like the public option and don't want the gov't to run your health care do like Bob says AND BUY YOUR OWN! No one is removing those private options from you.

“Hmm, though your post was odd (and idiotic) my annoyance is not with you but more the suggestion that the military is some conservative enclave that chooses to be brainwashed by the right wing.
There are alot of conservative servicemembers but that is, in my opinion, more to do with how they grew up and not bothering to reevaluate their political opinions once they were adults (like most Americans).
Servicemembers on the ground have no practical input over what's broadcast here. If it's free AFN will play it.
Interestingly Milo Ventimiglia, Peter on Heroes, came here last summer on a USO Tour and upon finding out Heroes was not played here via AFN because the NBC wouldn't give it to us for free (or for a small fee) he called around and got it on AFN.”

“That wasn't my suggestion at all. Where do you find "Chooses to be brainwashed" That inference is idiotic in and of itself. My point is more about your "conservative service members" who in your opinion "grew up" wrong and "never reevaluated their political opinions". (So they were brainwashed by their parents, right?) My point, miss, was that it SHOULD NOT be piped over there as it is political propaganda and not news. I am actually fascinated that it is so popular with the mindless and frankly appalled so many service members adhere to their tenets and points of view. Peace.”

“Why are Hannity and Limbaugh piped overseas via Armed Forces Radio? Is this a question or a statement ?
Interestingly enough I have yet to hear either of their radio shows being played on Freedom Radio here in Afghanista n...nor have I heard any Air America shows. The point of the military radio here is to play american music.
More importantly, have you ever even been deployed to hear Armed Forces Radio?
However, their shows are played on AFN (Armed Forces Network) for the same reason ANY show is played on AFN...they gave them to AFN for free.
AFN is not allowed to play commericials or profit from the use of the shows so only shows that the networks give us for free are allowed to play.
So from the network "news" side we have Hannity and O'Reilly as well as Olbermann and Maddow. We have Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN.
We get The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
We get most shows a few seasons after they've been out and we get alot of the cancelled shows.
The point I'm making is your post is idiotic. There are plenty of servicemembers on HuffPo who will correct you so don't make statements unless you know them to be fact.

Combat Brigades Will Stay in Iraq Despite Obama's Vow

“This article is extremely misleading. We were always aware that the remaining 35,000 to 50,000 (from 160,000) troops would be "transitioned" into a sustainmen t/training force. Did they think the soldiers making up these units were going to appear out of mid-air?
I really dislike this "gotcha" jounalism that pervades our media and is simply untrue. It's annoying and distracts from the real issues.

“The problem is that there aren't supposed to be as many as 50,000 combat troops left in Iraq after 18 months. It contradicts Obama's campaign pledge to withdraw from Iraq.
The US is supposed to be done with Iraq. We're not supposed to protect them from the Iranians. We're not supposed to intermediate militarily in Iraq's internal affairs. We're not supposed to provide security. We're supposed to leave training personnel, an administrative component, and just enough combat strength to support them if there's trouble.
The whole reason why Iraq is going quiet (besides much better non-military operational policies) is that the Iraqis perceive that the US will get the hell out of Iraq more quickly if there's less internal strife. The instant there's US combat teams in operations supporting the Iraqi gov't, that peace is going to fall apart.
I'm pretty disappointed with Obama again. There shouldn't be more than 21,000 troops in Iraq (6 combat brigades), including the trainers. And if things go sour, we should still pull out, ala Vietnam. The United States is not the world's policeman or the oil companies' fixer.”

“GREAT STORY,. I never heard a word about end of stop loss on ANY media, NOR one word on the extra $500 which they deserve. A shame the military is so conservative when it is usually the Right the screws them.. I am still in favor or a draft, get the kiddy's away from home a bit, see and meet more and the primary thing is, IF MOST CITIZENS AND/OR THER KIDS HAD TO SERVE< IRAQ AND SUCH WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. To me the lack of draft is the biggest danger to the USA military as every such "career" organizations tend to turn inward.. and no one rocks the boat as it would hurt career. AND before some fool says "Draftees will not fight, best talk to NAM vets about that one.. We won our major wars with drafted, and seems to have be stuck in wars with out career military.
So glad to see the stop loss.. as it was simply a cheap form of draft to keep most of nation out of the war as had the nation had to go, it would have shut down following week.. But disgusted with silence on this by media.”
