“Since when is an endorsement just a wish list? I would endorse Michele Bachman if she would follow in the footsteps of Bernie Sanders. That doesn't make any sense.”
LMontalvo on Oct 18, 2013 at 08:05:58
Just another weaselly right-wing rag backpedaling from their weaselly endorsement of a greasy used car / snake oil salesman.
So for the upcoming elections, expect a WHOLE lotta backpedally flip-floppery on the gov't shutdown along with the regular fare of misogyny, evolution / climate change-denying, bible-thumpery from GOP illuminaries.
Get the popcorn ready, this circus is gonna be a BLAST!”

“My advice to Zsa Zsa, get Obamacare Dahling. Pre-existing conditions be dammed. No need to go broke because you have health issues. Plus she can prove that Death Panels are a figment of Sarah Palin's imagination. Cause if anyone would be turned down by the dreaded death panels it would be her.”
“This ad is horrible. I think it diminishes the message of the Dems. This shutdown is not trivial. There are so many more creative ways to explain to people that we are being extorted. It is not a tantrum. It is extortion plain and simple.”
abercrombie on Oct 4, 2013 at 15:38:15
“It is a tantrum. No critical thought comes from the GOP.”
“Since people in this neck of the woods like this sort of thing, why don't they all pony up some cash to replace the government welfare their rodeo receives (my tax dollars hard at work) and then they can do whatever they want in their private rodeo.
Simple solution for simple folks. Seems they do want government handouts when it goes into their hands.”
“I understood these to be time/date-stamped? Is he saying these are from a year ago? If they are new then he is a fool. If they are old then New Yorkers have to decide if they want their mayor's dirty laundry always creeping into the picture.”

“Guiliani kept the busybodies buzzing for years over his mistress, and not being able to live in the Mayors mansion, so staying at a hotel. But Anthony Weiner sexting seems a bit more seedy to me.”
“I need some techie out there to explain this to me. I do understand the difference between the quality but what would the benefit be to Netflix to do this? If they already have rights to the films then again, why would they make the effort to reduce the quality of the films?”
BrainRagYell on Jul 22, 2013 at 15:19:18
“It's really about the availability. During the era of VHS and pre-HDTV, the "aspect ratio" (size of the screen) was regularly changed because the majority of people (it was assumed) wouldn't understand why the whole square of their television screen wasn't being used. If a movie was shown in its correct format, then the top and bottom of the screen would have black bars that framed the picture.
What this resulted in was a lot of different versions of movies being available for licensing, and none of them being the exact original version of the film as it played in theaters. Netflix gets a hold of the best version available, which isn't always the theatrical edition. Most studios are working to make digital translations of the original versions available, but film rots, film cans get lost/stolen.
Point is that the best available version of an older film is not always the most pristine and intended version, it isn't really on Netflix, and it sounds like they're active in updating when they become aware of better versions.”

“There is no real benefit, which is why this is not that big of a pile o' news. Films are shot in certain aspects and then modified for all sorts of other formats. With as many films as they host, there are bound to be issues. Anybody shocked is kidding themselves.
Rather than making a big noisy stink, one might consider being a bit more positively proactive.”
“The money came from the police officers foundation, corporate donations, and other contributions. Some part was probably from the city/state. Also keep in mind most major police departments have asset forfeiture/seizure funds.”
“The argument that the laws/bills proposed won't stop all crime is like saying I had a car accident therefore you never should have invented the stoplight. Or it's snowing today therefore global warming doesn't exist. These are asinine talking points that should be ignored. If your contribution to the conversation is 8-year old nonsense then please sit on the sidelines and get out of the way.”
“It's interesting to note that of all the gay men I know, none of them have any attraction to young boys. Much the same as none of the hetero women I know find young, pimply-faced, pre-pubescent boys attractive.”
Bobcatter on Feb 6, 2013 at 11:22:44
“Most, if not all men are attracted to younger females. I've seen 70 year old grandfathers checking out high school cheerleaders as they walk by. Fortunately, most of us know it's disrespectful and socially wrong to do anything more than look.”
“What will happen is republicans will load this bill up with pork and some additional language about defunding Planned Parenthood and criminalizing abortion, so that Democrats can't vote for it. Then the Repubs will point and say that the democrats were against a gun ban. Mark my words.”
Ed Baker on Feb 5, 2013 at 17:56:39
“Or the Democrats will put some poison pills in of their own. :) That's our politics these days.”
JTaylor405 on Feb 5, 2013 at 17:50:57
“While the degree of cynicism in your post is saddening, it seems realistic. The silver lining here may be that we are as a society becoming more aware of the sorts of political shenanigans that are played and making it more difficult to play them by exposing them earlier.”
Sharon Williams on Feb 5, 2013 at 17:48:05
“Unfortunately, I think you are probably right.”

“I don't think so. We want these bills up or down.”

“The Democrats already said they weren't going to vote for a gun ban.
Did you miss something.”
Steve Gwin on Feb 5, 2013 at 17:46:39
“and none of these things they want passed would have stopped any of the recent crimes. None.”
“Interesting that Sandra Fluke spoke on behalf of actual women (binders full of them) and was pilloried by Rush and his ilk. But this fragile flower plant (read: shill) will become the right wing media darling now that Sarah Palin has fallen out of favor.
There doesn't seem to be any turning back for the right wing wackadoodles. They cannot get out of their own way long enough to solve even simple problems.”
“For the 700th time no one has or has had an issue with Mitt Romney's wealth. That is the nonsense that Republicans try to advnace. The issue with Romney was that he is wealthy but doesn't recognize that he "didn't build that." He was an inheriter of wealth and wants to implement policies that penalize people for not starting life wih all the advantages that he had.
Kerry knows where he comes from but wants to help others.”
