Backers Of Troy Davis, Put To Death In Georgia Despite Doubts Over His Guilt, Seek Next Steps After Execution

Backers Of Troy Davis, Put To Death In Georgia Despite Doubts Over His Guilt, Seek Next Steps After Execution

Commented Sep 22, 2011 at 23:42:00 in Black Voices

“I am about the punishment. I think it is about time that the lawmakers review capital punishment or execution as a punishment for these crimes. Who really benefits from capital punishment? It is certainly not a deterrent. I cannot rejoice or get this so called closure in seeing the accused executed....then it is nothing short of being revengeful. Follow Britain and the European countries and abolish state executions. Life imprisonment without parole is a most appropriate punishment for those who commit these crimes.”

“It is a very interesting article on human behavior. Happiness, companionship, good sexual relationship, friendship, are some of the virtues that human beings chase after all their lives. Some find these in a marriage while others just keep on searching for that complete satisfaction in life with others, be it with a mistress or with a Casanova, or with the boys on the block….”

“In the sexual assult allegation brought against Strauss-Khan and Nafissatou Diallo, DNA evidence of Strauss -Khan was found in the room and on Nafissatou Diallo person. All this DNA evidence supported was a sexual encounter occurred between both parties. It does not answer the question was it consensual or not.
Bruises were found on her genital. Yes, but she had a sexual encounter with another person the night before. How does one differentiate who caused the bruising, Strauss-Khan or the other person who had a sexual encounter with her the night before?
Her clothing was torn. Who tore her clothing? Can you honestly say?
These evidence would have been contested vigorously in court. They do not support or exclude a rape. The case was heading for he said that she said……
Who knows the truth in this matter but both parties……Strauss-Khan and Nafissatou Diallo.”

New Research Finds Diabetes Can Be Reversed

Commented Aug 26, 2011 at 08:30:29 in Healthy Living

“This is an excellent study done by Lim, Hollingsworth, Aribisala, Chen, Mathers and Taylor. All diabetics should be informed of the role of acute dietary restriction of energy in the control of diabetes mellitus. This chronic disease has caused immense morbidity and mortality globally. It is about time that health care providers focus on controlling and eradicating diabetes mellitus. Thanks Mark Hyman, MD, for sharing this article with us.”

“"[July 2007] One of the basic freedom issues that has united both left and right in the struggle against expanding governmental authority has been that of the National ID Card. Many European nations, particularly those with authoritarian histories such as Germany and the ex-communist bloc countries, have long required each citizen to carry some standardized national identification document that must be presented to the police on demand. We are all familiar with the motion picture stereotype of the Nazi or Soviet officer walking up to people and saying "your papers, please," but in the United States, people have traditionally regarded this as something we can all do without. We Americans definitely do not like the idea of needing something like a driver's license just to walk on the street, nor do we want cops asking us for a passport when we are traveling around our own country. Indeed, we are told that the Republicans and conservatives are the ones most vehemently opposed to this ultimate symbol of Big Government". ...read .....NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD BILL PASSES SENATE WITHOUT DEBATE

Atlanta's Lessons on Standards and Cheating

Commented Jul 22, 2011 at 20:26:26 in Education

“Do you know what is it like to be a child of a single parent? The child returns home from school often to be cared for by some aged grand parent, until the working mother returns home at 9.00 P.M. or later. Often the child is asleep. There was no supervision of the home work. The tired mom goes to bed and then wakes the next morning to prepare the child for school.
Who is there in this child's home to reinforce the learning that the child got from school? It is no blah! blah! blah! These are the realities that a child faces in the under privilege communities. Hence a child in these circumstances are at a great disadvantage of learning than the child of a two parent home who reside in a privileged community.”

Atlanta's Lessons on Standards and Cheating

Commented Jul 22, 2011 at 20:05:40 in Education

“A child's education is most important, for upon it will determine the future of our nation. It is the responsibility of the parents, the educators and the community. All play a most vital role in the education of a child. If the parents are not committed then all the efforts of the educators can be wasted. The community and the environment in which the child lives have to be conducive to learning.
Hence parents, educators and the community must act in partnership to educate a child. Educators/teachers cannot perform the task alone.
It is disturbing that educators do not understand their role in educating children. There is no excuse for cheating either on the part of teachers or students. If it is that teachers cheated, then they should be sent on leave without pay and counseled...before returning to class. Teachers are a rare breed of professionals, and they should be penalized, cautioned and counseled instead of being fired.”
