“Note that I said "by your logic." BTW heart attacks are prevented every day - by lifestyle choices and medications, to name two. ”
Buster Adams on Dec 28, 2012 at 23:23:45
“Yep, yet the only person affected is the person who made the choices. They have a right to accept whatever consequences there are of their personal choices.
Gunmen and DUI drivers, however, kill others constantly.
You wouldn't give up your right to go target shooting or get drunk on the weekend just to save someone's life?”
“By your logic, Buster, heart attacks should be illegal. No one needs a heart attack, and heart attacks cause death.”
Buster Adams on Dec 27, 2012 at 17:33:45
You can't stop heart attacks!
The government CAN do something about easy access to guns and alcohol!
If it saves just ONE of the 10,000 lives lost every year, you'd give up your right to drink, right?”
“The school I retired from DID have an armed police officer in the school every day for the last few years I was there. The advantage was that he was right there to deal with an escalating situation, to take police reports right on scene, and perhaps serve as a deterrent to those contemplating maliciousness. He likely could NOT have prevented a massacre such as the one at Newtown because he couldn't be everywhere at once. The school was, a two-storied maze with lockers in the middle of halls preventing an unobstructed view of what was going on out there. Reportedly the perpetrator in Newtown came in through a window. Where would armed guards be? At the doors.”
“Absolutely right, Muskie. A liar is a liar. You are not "too adamant" about it. One who tells a lie ought never to be trusted because chances are that person has gone through life getting ahead by prevaricating. I personally totally lost any respect I had for him (very little by the way) when in the second (?) debate, he kept talking about how good he was for the middle class. At first I thought I was watching a satirical comedy bit. Then I realized that he would say or do ANYTHING just to get elected.”
“I'm glad he said it, especially on Fox news which has needed to hear it on the air for a long time -their viewers as well. But I'd characterize him as "bold" rather than "brilliant," as he had the audacity to say what all the rest of us have known for years.”
“Conservo: why are you asking who i voted for if you. in your infinite wisdom, already know? (Or do you?) How can you imply that the contracts and bailouts and any other gov't support for big business would cease if the other party had won this election? It wouldn't. In fact the bailouts started with the other party in case you forgot. And for your info, you are conflating others' comments with what I said. (IF you reread my comment you'll see I said nothing about "these folks not knowing what life is like on the outside". So before you go on the attack and sound off, kindly think about what you're saying. ”

“Apologies for the "not knowing what these folks" comment. I mixed you up with the previous comment.
BUT, yes, the bailouts DID start with Bush..but you are assuming that Bush and Romney are the same person. They are not. I am quite sure that Romney would not continue the culture of corrupt cronyism that has prevailed in the last administration. He has a record that we can look at and his record is fairly untouchable (unless you are really grasping).”
“All this is not surprising. American Electric Power here in OH announced it will bill its customers, who endured days of hot summer weather without power, for "the costs of the power outage." What? WHAT?????”

“PG&E collected millions for years to upgrade pipes in the SF Bay Area and gave out bonuses instead. Then the horrible explosion in San Bruno because of faulty pipes and PG&E wants a RATE INCREASE to cover the cost of upgrading the pipes that they already got money to upgrade and didn't do!! Thank God for consumer groups trying to fight these vultures but I'm sure we'll all be paying again for what should have been done years ago. But that's corporate America for ya! Good luck to all the folks back East.”

“And there is nothing we can do about it. Republicans now control PUCO as well.”
“"In 2011, $40 billion of taxpayer money was divided among just nine CFD member companies...."
... and, most likely, they're still sayin' "I built that myself."”

“Who did you vote for? You do realize much of that was the current administration rewarding their cronies and also pumping money into failed alternative energy companies like Solyndra (also owned by Nancy Pelosi's brother in law).
And of those who were corrupt... guys like John Corzine have not been brought up on charges. Why is that? He is a friend of the current administration. Once again who did you vote for?
We can talk about Nancy Pelosi funneling jobs to her husbands company or Barbara Boxer doing the same thing. Why are they not even investigated. Once again...friends of the administration. Bottom line is I don't think you care who it is you voted for. All I am saying is--this is who and what you voted for...more of the same. You want to complain ...yet this is what you voted for.
But you strayed from your original comment. You said these folks have no concept of what life is like on the outside. I countered that you are wrong as 80% of them did not start out millionaires. Apparently you have a difficult time staying on topic.”
“Abraham - one by Sarah, the other by Hagar. Sarah was presumed to be too old to bear children so Abraham fathered Ismael (Ishmael?) by Sarah's handmaiden Hagar. Then Sarah bore Isaac so Abraham sent Hagar and Ismael away.
How did I do, mcastro?”
pbaker5485 on Nov 18, 2012 at 19:49:22
“Ohhh I love this subject. Now people don't jump on me, but is Ismael's tribe considered to be the Arab nations? I believe that the North Americans can be traced to Benjamin. Did an intense study on this very thing about 10-15 years ago.”
mcastro118 on Nov 18, 2012 at 19:25:36
“IOracle....Perfect A+ Excellent. All this mess is because of what Abraham did to Hagar and Ismael, who were saved by an Angel?”
“The more I read about charities, foundations, and non profits, the more suspicious I get about what's in it for the leadership. It seems as if everyone is starting one of these entities nowadays. Is the IRS paying attention?”
