“or just plain dumb. Just because the website rollout was ridiculous, doesn't mean healthcare for 40 million uninsured is not good for our economy. You must give up easy on all difficulties you face in life. This was nothing in the big picture.”
“THIS president is not responsible for the widening of the earnings gap in the United States of America. YOU can thank GW Bush for relaxing taxes on the rich. Eliminating banking/investing regulations that lead the the economic crash in 2008 AND the deficit which we accrued paying for two wars and the Medicare Part D expansion...Bush did all of this WITHOUT funding any of it through Congress. And guns, Bush allowed the assault weapons ban to expire, so Bush is really responsible for Sandy Hook. Great guy that George.
President Obama has been cleaning up Bush's colassel mess. You should get your FACTS straight before pointing fingers at the wrong guy.”
“Rand Paul is so clueless and blind to his own racism. Why does the Republican office in Detroit need to be called the African American blah blah blah. Like they are second class citizens, who can't read the paper, understand politics and "get that the Republican party is not inclusive"
Obama saved Detroit when Romney and his pals wanted to allow the auto makers to go belly up. Of course, the citizens of Detroit re-elected Obama with an overwhelming majority. Any sensible person would. Wouldn't they?”
“Texas TAKES more in federal funds than they contribute to the federal tax base! But all their politicians keep talking about is "the takers"....they got a whole state of them!
FLRealist on Nov 22, 2013 at 15:13:05
“Actually, Texas is one of the few red states that doesn't take more federal money than it pays in. That said, Texas is one of the lowest states for health coverage, and who can ignore the fiasco that is the Texas school boards and their fight to get rid or corrupt science and history.”
“The time for CHANGE is NOW. Enough already. Nothing is getting accomplished that will advance this country as long as the Republicans continue to block every piece of legislation and all nominee's who do not fit their exact profile...rich white and conservative.
We are a country of many people. Compromise is critical to the success of our democracy, where everyone gets a little bit of what they want and no one gets 100% of what they want all the time.”
Jennifer Mead on Nov 19, 2013 at 12:59:56
“You make too much sense. I think that is what I notice the most about the Republicans these days. They feel no need to compromise no matter how outnumbered they are. That is a new thing in my lifetime, I am 58.”
“Mitch McConnell behaved like a 'grown up'. Its a sad day when a public official gets punished by his own party FOR DOING HIS JOB....REPRESENTING HIS CONSTITUENTS.”
bluefire66 on Oct 29, 2013 at 16:50:03
“The second week of October both Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell stated that their constituents didn’t want any part of the Affordable Care Act. Kentucky has around 1/2 million uninsured residents. At that time at least 8,500 Kentuckians signed up for ACA.
As of last week approx 45,000 new sign-ups were added to the States Health Care Web sight.
McConnell gets paid for rhetoric.”

“I am by no means a fan of mcconnell, but PAC's have to go! This is where voters need to be informed and vote!!! PAC's can throw as much $ as they want for or against a person, but ultimately it's the voter's common sense and education which wins the day!”
“You speak as if it is a shameful to be a cashier. Hard work is hard work.
What is shameful is your lack of insight into a social problem that plagues millions of Americans while corporations like McDonalds and Walmart line their pockets with profits because they SEND their employees to take advantage of government programs, rather than paying them a wage they can LIVE ON at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Open your eyes beyond your little world.”
JASMINE2013 on Oct 26, 2013 at 13:39:14
“I did open my eyes--I never said it was shameful to be a cashier.I think its shameful to be a cashier after 10 years when you have 2 children.Thats not exactly making a good life for them. Every major corporation besides mcdonalds (lowes etc) have advice like that for their lower wage associates.Employees get paid what IT costs to replace them. They have minimal skills which is why they get paid the way they do.There are those of us who started very very low on the wealth scale in life and worked 2 or 3 jobs ,80-90 hour weeks to make a better life for us and our kids. There is no reason today that people who have kids at a young age should not have that mentality today except they feel they are entitled and the world owes them and people ilk you buy into that and enable them. Thats the sad part”
“You are unable to see the big picture in this problem.
This is not about one woman too lazy to improve her life. This is about a corporate system that encourages the use of government programs paid for by the tax payers so they can line their coffers with more profits and bonuses.”

“I know McDonalds is a billion dollar company, but most McDonald's are franchises that have a tight profit margin. Franchises have to pay royalties to the parent company. Labor cost are the problems of the franchise owner. This women invested 10 years of her life never got a promotion or raise. It's time to move on to another job, I find it hard to believe that she is 27 years old and doesn't get it. Getting a raise or promotion is not a guaranteed thing. It's a benefit offered by the employer to reward or retain valued employees. Look at Star Bucks, they own all their stores, they don't franchise. Their employees aren't making anything close to what this women is asking for.”
“McDonalds and Walmart should be sent a bill for the entire costs of the benefits their workers receive. The people of this country should not be supporting the business model of McDonalds and Walmart.
AGREED 100% Taken from TXFemmom....this is a form of corporate subsidy!!!!! The Republicans are always talking about the working poor in this country as moochers and losers, when it's really the huge corporations, refusing to pay a living wage that are the true moochers on our social systems.
But because big business has Republicans in their back pockets, we never hear out this...what a shock.
If McDonalds paid all of their workers a living wage of $15.00/hour the cost of a Big Mac would go up ONLY 68 cents. That is a FACT.”
“And that 1.3M earning less than $25K are using government safety programs to make their lives work. Looks to me like Walmart is the recipient of a "corporate welfare". They save themselves millions by not paying a living wage, while the federal government holds the bag.
Why aren't all the Republicans screaming about this? Oh yeah, there on the side of big business.”

“Sadly, Walmart isn't the only one. Yet some companies can make profits and treat their employees fairly...like Cosco. In some countries, like Germany, employees make living wages, and CEOs still provide profits for their stock holders. There was a time in America when CEOs were concerned about everyone, stockholders, vendors, and employees, but not today. They care about stock holders, profits and bonuses for themselves.”
“I hope everyone remembers the disaster the tea party Republicans created for the American people during the 2014 elections and get some moderate grown up Republicans in office so we, as a country can have constructive debate, and move this nation forward, socially, economically, and on the world stage.”
