Copenhagen Climate Change Marathon: Leaders and Lawmakers Negotiate in the Final Hours

“Free? Free? Freedom to do what? To live out your life as if you are the only human who matters and to hell with everything and everybody else?
All rich countries are not capitalist. You forgot China, for one. And all poor countries aren't either dictatorships or socialist. You've no doubt noticed that the U.S. always seems to support with money, arms, or whatever, countries with dictators, especially if that country has oil or another resource we want (i.e., tungsten, South Vietnam). Remember that hideous 10-year old war for "freedom," and "to keep all of Southeast Asia free from Communism. " We killed about 5 million Vietnamese with bombs, bullets and horrific, DNA damaging chemicals, and untold thousands of Cambodians (pre-Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, who killed about 2 million Cambodians in his quest to make Cambodia the Rice Capitol of Asia).
Socialism? Britain has socialized medicine. I've not heard of the British government treating its citizens as would a dictator. Medicare is socialism but the Tea Baggers, who want to be FREE, don't want the government to touch it.
Capitalism? You're undoubtedly aware that capitalism is built on exploitation of natural resources combined with private ownership and to hell with rules on pollution of the air, poisoning of the waters poisoning of the soil Since the world's natural resources are rapidly being depleted, polluted and poisoned and for humans to continue to exist on Mother Earth then capitalism will and must be changed.”

“This Afghanistan debacle, just like Vietnam, has already expanded into Pakistan. Who's next? Iran? We'd love for the Iranians to "pull a stunt"--it won't matter if the "stunt" really happened (a la Tonkin Gulf) just so's we'd have an excuse to launch a massive attack . Our intent, I believe, is to dominate, control, by any means possible, Middle East oil. There should be no doubt in any American's mind as to U.S. intentions.
Thus the mind of Orwell Barack Obama and his government, in collusion with Congress, is revealed.”

I've been raging at our leaders and politicians for years regarding this 'cause I'd much prefer that we follow the ol' Boy Scout motto: Be Prepared. Begin making preparations 30 years ago to make the "transition" as easy and smooth as possible. But our leaders have not made plans, that I'm aware of, for the "transitio n." “Indeed, this pattern of procrastin ation---by the world's governments---will result in a jarring change when the existential threat is fully upon us. It is timely that a film out now, "The Road", (based on Cormac McCarthy's brilliant novel) addresses the kind of world that could result.

President Obama: Get Angry About Health Care Reform

“Who? You didn't want Ralph Nader who for years told you who was/is robbing the country blind. Another "honester" is Dennis Kucinich but ya saw what happened to him in the last debates and primaries. Kucinich was contemptuously, blatantly, openly shunted aside while we got the views (for what they're worth) of the half-white /half-blac k man and the white woman.
If Obama really wanted to do what is right he'd issue an angry call for about two-five million people to descend on Washington immediately and demand single-payer, demand a truly clean energy bill, demand that all troops be brought home immediately from the Black Holes of Iraq and Afghanistan, demand that Guantanomo and Bagram and all other torture chambers be closer, dismantled and destroyed, demand that we stop pickin' fights with various countries around the world, and demand that we begin immediately mitigating Global Warming/Climate Change and planning for Oil Descent, else we are looking at monumental death, destruction and even extinction.”

The answer is no! All we do is deny, obstruct, obfuscate, dicker, bloviate, lie and whine about an economic system (exploitative, destructive, poisonous and ultimately unsustainable) that has brought us to the brink of extinction.”

We've seen this before in Germany in the 1920s, 30s and 40s, and in Italy in the 20s, 30s and 40s and we've seen where it leads. And what did it take to stop these irrational psychopaths? “Congressman Wilson's outburst was altogether calculated, although in the typically twisted, Fascist way, to appeal, surely, to the thousands of other "rascists", (there should be a better term than "rascist" because all humans are of the same "race"-- Homo sapiens or "man, intelligen t."), in his 2nd District, which, by the way, includes Charleston, "the cradle of the Confederacy" and where the first shot of the Civil War was fired. I've also read this morning that Wilson's son has just kicked off his campaign for the Attorney-General's office of South Carolina and running on a "family values" platform. And to my mind the term "family values" is nothing more than code and speaks to those who're of the same mindset. So there you have it: father and son. Would it be fair to describe them as "prejudiced against those with darker skins?" Or, "prejucdiced against those whose ancestors were brutally taken from Africa and brought to America for nothing more than to be worked to death as slaves." Wilson is one of those Republicans who're always talking about "working' hard" and "pullin' yourself up by your bootstraps" and "being self-reliant" has, it appears, always made his living by taking taxpayer dollars, first as an officer in the military forces and now as a career politician. I've also read this morning that Wilson's Democratic opponent, one Rob Miller, has, since the outburst, taken in more than $700,000 into his campaign chest. Was Wilson's outcry one of desparation?”

“I agree with you to a point. Government should fear the people, not the other way around; however, using the word "threateningly" is wide open to perception and could easily result in arrest for conveying a threat to do bodily harm or some other kind of charge.

So now, what can one really expect from the once fiercely independent environmental organizations? Consequently they're all about maintaining the status quo. Meanwhile Global Warming and Petrocollapse are bearing down on us with ever increasing speed.

“The Bush Cabal wanted the war, wanted it, talked about it amongst themselves for ten years and even made plans for it. What do you think the Project for a New American Century was all about? The original document entitled "Project for a New American Century" called for a "Pearl Harbor" type event to motivate the American people to support the war. The "Pearl Harbor" type event phrase has since been taken out of the document.
Furthermore, I maintain that everything the Cabal did prior to 9-11 points to the fact that they wanted 9-11 to happen, or something like it, and so, despite repeated warnings from various sources (as enumerated by Mr. Begala), didn't, or intentionally wouldn't "connect the dots" so as to thwart the 9-11 attackers.
Undoubtedly the Bush Cabal are War Criminals and if there is any justice anywhere in the world they ought to be indicted, prosecuted and imprisoned for...?”

“This program of torture was intentional, planned, (can anyone say, the Wannsee Conference?), and was ordered by George W. Bush and Cabinet.
They are guilty according to the Geneva Conventions, they are guilty under the UN General Assembly Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1984, ratified by the US Senate, placing it on a legal par with a federal criminal statute), and they are guilty under the Joint Resolution Regarding Opposition of the United States to the Practice of Torture by Foreign Governments passed by Congress in 1984.
They have consciously, deliberately,"with malice aforethought" broken laws and must stand before a bar of justice for their crimes.
Does Obama have the strength to bring the "perps" to justice? That remains to be seen.”
