Eliot Spitzer: Obama Economic Policies Ineffective, A Continuation Of Bush (WATCH)

“An "affair"? With a $1,500/hr prostitute? Who was part of an international prostitution ring? And Spitzer - who busted prostitutes as Atty Gen - paid $80,000 by wire for prostitutes at the Emperors Club, after promoting the biggest wiretap operation in the nation in NY. Spitzer was a rich John, who thought his johnson merits only the best - not a man having "an affair".”

“This is as absurd as the Palin 2012 media bilge. This dude, former member of The Emperors Club - an international prostitution ring, no less - who could spend $4,500 in 3 hrs w/a prostitute - after he busted prostitutes as State Atty Gen - and who completely missed (ignored?) the Madoff Ponzi scheme for years, is now an economics expert? He promoted wiretaps of internet and cell phone calls - generating 30% of the nation's wiretaps in NY alone - and was stupid enough to use phones and wire $80,000 that we know of to The Emperors Club, but he's Mr. Know-It-All now?
He hyped up his political profile with Wall St and Mafia busts, but that hardly makes him a pro on matters of international finance (other than the international Emperors Club).
I've been wondering: Can investment houses just up and move their corporate offices to the United Arab Emirates like Cheney's Halliburton did, and keep their "USA" privileges? Can they/did they threaten to take their business to the Middle East and promote the dinar over the dollar? There are any number of ways these investment houses could maim the US in this global economy. I look forward to finding out just what was at play here when both Bush and Obama felt so hamstrung that they gave in like they did to Sachs.”

“True, but he and Dems tried with no success to fight off Stupak Amendment with Hyde Amendment, that prevents women who either use the public option or get subsidies for private insurance in the exchange from having a choice. Rather than challenge Hyde, he and Dems in congress want it to get renewed in our health reform bill. How sad! http://bit.ly/2olABP There are more women than men living in poverty, women make lower wages despite Lilly Ledbetter Act (enforcement of that equal pay Act, anyone?). Hyde is discrimination against women and against the poor. Stupak's just expanded Hyde's discrimination against poor women to include lower-middle-class women!”

Compromise Reached On Health Care Bill: Anti-Abortion Amendment To Be Given Floor Vote

“Well golly gee. Stupak's amendment makes all women - except rich women - equal to poor women on Medicaid, and to disabled women on Medicare, who have not had access to a single federal dollar for an abortion for 30 years now!
I've been angry at the double-standard that women's organizations and liberals in general have let stand for those 30 years, so welcome to my world. It was inevitable. As we allow those with the least representation to get treated, we shall also be treated as well. What was the saying coined in the Revolutionary War? We either hang together, or hang separately.
Now let's see how inhumanely we let undocumented immigrants get treated. Because how many calls have there been on liberal blogs for equality for the immigrants who wait years, sometimes decades, for the chance to become legal residents?”

“That link's too long Marco. Ever hear of bitly.com? And the pay-for-prayer won't survive. What will survive is all the bans on insurance companies denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, from cancer to high blood pressure to Crohn's Disease to arthritis to ... acne and "knee pains". Also caps on what people have to pay out-of-pocket. I met a 26 yr old w/$26k in bone surgery bills - that'll be out. No more extra bills when folks have to use providers, esp ERs, not in their "network". Attention will finally be paid to immense outcome differences by race/gender. So it will make a diff. Anyone who expected the first bill to pass after decades of failure w/everything we wanted: I've got an awesome bridge to sell ya, cheap!

“What a hack-job from the now right-wing-run AP. First, the democratically-elected Pres. Zelaya was not "flown" to exile - he was marched out in his pajamas at gunpoint by the Honduran military, which took it upon itself to resume its absolute control over Honduran's citizens and corrupt legislature and corrupt Supreme Court. Second, it is not "hardline" to demand the reinstatement of the rightful president of a country. Third, as others point out here, what did the US get in return - its military base guaranteed? Fourth, the majority of Hondurans now want an amendment to their Constitution, which was written when the military held absolute power, under Reagan and his Iran-Contra thugs. Fifth, the international community, including the OAS and UN, was not going to recognize the Nov 29 election if Zelaya was not reinstated. Sixth, it's a "power-sharing" agreement, which is bogus and serves the elite and military of Honduras, the second or third poorest country in the hemisphere. Seventh, over 10,000 Honduran citizens have been "disappeared" by the military, over a dozen killed, who knows how many tortured, while our State Dept fiddled.

At this rate, we're suckers if we pay fines for not buying private insurance, be it separately or with our reduced wages. Much smarter to stick the premium dollars into insurance and big pharma stocks, and chuckle with the rest of the malicious manipulators as we draw twice as much from the profit and then pay the fines. Good grief. Capitalism bites.”

“How is your "post-American future" with "new immigrants from outside the US" different than the American past? Do you mean whites have to leave because the "new immigrants" are not white? Wow. If people of color say that, it's outrageous, no?
Those who ruled and formed this country were "new immigrants from outside the US", & like most of the Latinos, blacks and Asian people so maligned here still, second, third generation. If you're saying rich whites will move to Scandinavia, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, prepare to be treated as unwelcome immigrants. I don't presume you mean "more affluent Whites" will move to Arab, Asian, African, Slavic or Latin countries.
50 years of reversing the detrimental impact of slavery/colonization may seem annoying to "better educated more affluent Whites" (who're actually more liberal btw), but change waits for no one. Europe & Canada are now also, for the most part, integrated with the very people colonized by Europeans for centuries. That's just the way it rolls.
I never said there will never be a post-racial America, just that we have not arrived yet. If we are to survive, there had better be a post-racial, post-religion, post-nationalist American, African, Asian, etc. world. Whites who say they have to take the money made from exploitation of everyone here and abroad, and run, believe there will never be a post-racial world. Sounds like self-fulfilling-prophecy. Sad.”

In a nutshell, it's just one more example for those who think that, because Obama got elected, we have arrived at a post-racial society. Not by a longshot. And it's things like this that makes people so damn mad about it.”

“Stories like this point to a genuine truth; you're quite correct, there will never be a "post-racial" America as far as Blacks and Whites in the U.S. are concerned. And that being a genuine truth, an unspoken reality that's not understood by Blacks is that we're moving farther from the dream of a post-racial America as far as the Black/White divide is concerned because of an enormous fatigue factor overwhelming White people in the U.S. with the whole "Race" issue. For whites, evertying in the U.S. has been all about race for the last 50 years and this article and others like it prove that going forward, the same will be the case. Obama's election only intensifies the problem of race relations taking a front seat in the endless parade of unresolved issues in the U.S. And that explains why so many better educated, more affluent Whites no longer see their future, and certainly their childrens futures lying with or within the U.S. They know their better futures lie in getting out while they can. The ultimate result will be that the U.S. will achieve a post-American future, one where the society and it's future are controlled by new immigrants from outside the U.S. long before it ever acheivs a "post-racial" society.”
