“This is not 1890. There are these things we have called laws and they have made unions irrelevant. The only purpose a union has is to line the pockets of the people at the top of the union.”

“And the GOP is working hard to undo each and every one of those laws. Wake up. And trust me, I'm not ignorant to corruption within unions. But thinking they're useless, or worse, chastising employees who attempt to organize to better their situation (as some people do) is spitting in the face of Americans who have literally given their lives for benefits we enjoy today. People love talking about the "entitled children" today. IMO this is a better example of that than anything.”

“puhleaze, the laws dont cut it and the union leaders of a good union fight for workers rights, to this day!”
“Whites make up 63% of the population but only 37% of Food Stamp recipients. Shouldn't Whites make up 63% of Food Stamp recipients ?
Blacks make up 13% of the total population but 22% of Food Stamp Recipients are Black. Weird.
I worked for years with inner city teenagers. Most could barely read their own name but could tell you the address of every welfare agency, public housing agency and SNAP office in their area.
I met exactly 2 teenage girls in my years working there that had a plan for life other than get pregnant and get on every public assistance program possible. They can't read or write but they understand very well how old they need to be to have a baby and be able to get their own housing and how far apart to have kids so they can stay on assistance as long as possible.
I don't need to be told about the welfare culture in inner cities I got to see it clear as day.”

“It's a job meant for teenagers and the elderly looking to make a few extra dollars. Being a cashier at Walmart is not a career choice.”

“It doesnt have to be a career choice. In todays economy these are the majority of jobs that are being created. Just look at how Wal mart and Costco treat their supposed unskilled workers. its a world of difference.”

“They said the same thing about FDR when Social Security was rolled out - but you didn't have internet and tv reporters telling you constantly about every little glitch that occurred in getting it started. Compare the US population figures of the l930's with 2013 and you'll realize the magnitude of rolling out a program like ACA.”

“It is destroying all medical care, and making it much more encumbered by bureaucracy that is also making it ironically, much more expensive, while decreasing quality.”

“Most Walmart positions pay low wages because that is what the work is worth. It requires very little education, very little if any skill and no special training. Most positions can be mastered in a week by a 15 year old kid.
Walmart cashier and stocking positions are jobs meant for teenagers and the elderly looking for a few extra dollars. They are and never have been meant to support a family.
It's not Walmarts fault that people drop out of high school and never do anything to get some actual marketable skills.
People need to set their career goals higher than Walmart and McDonalds.
People can live like they did decades ago if they choose. They just have to move into a house half the size of a modern home and get rid of the things that people didn't have to pay for then like the cell phone bill, the cable bill, the internet bill. Go out once a month like people did then. Make your dinner from scratch like people use to.
The Walton family built a business that provides more than 2 million jobs. Get back to me when you have built a business that provides just 1% as many.”
“The Ugly Truth About Canadian Health Care
" On a subzero Winnipeg morning in 1997, I cut across the hospital emergency room to shave a few minutes off my frigid commute. Swinging open the door, I stepped into a nightmare: the ER overflowed with elderly people on stretchers, waiting for admission. Some, it turned out, had waited five days. The air stank with sweat and urine. Right then, I began to reconsider everything that I thought I knew about Canadian health care. I soon discovered that the problems went well beyond overcrowded ERs. Patients had to wait for practically any diagnostic test or procedure, such as the man with persistent pain from a hernia operation whom we referred to a pain clinic—with a three-year wait list; or the woman needing a sleep study to diagnose what seemed like sleep apnea, who faced a two-year delay; or the woman with breast cancer who needed to wait four months for radiation therapy, when the standard of care was four weeks."
“Ya, having some Politian deciding if I am allowed to get medical care. No thanks.
People being told it's illegal for the Dr. to treat their illness because they have used up this years budget for that treatment. No thanks.
Waiting 6 months, a year or more for treatment. NO !
Being told that once you reach a certain age you are not worth the cost of helping you. No !
Please save the "That does not happen" Lies. Some quotes from Canadians on their heath care treatment of a 94 year old:
wakka "The real problem with treating terminally ill seniors is that it is taking money from productive people and throwing it into a grave. Vaccines for babies are a great investment; treating chronic illnesses for the near-dead is a waste of time and labour."
"I'd say 94 years of health care is enough for one man, particularly as it gets more expensive over time. $50K would pay for several years' rent for a poor family. That sounds like a better deal to me, if we're going to give tax dollars away."
A man is dead but you get some free rent so all is good. You people are psychos.”
“I believe in freedom. It's their stores and they can open and close as they want. Nobody is forcing people to work there. If someone works there and does not like working certain days they are free to leave and work somewhere else or start their own business and set their own hours. That is how freedom works.
I believe people have the right to open and close their business when they want and you believe they can only be open when you say they can be.”
DFD CPA on Nov 22, 2013 at 12:46:28
“so the stores will be open for you to shop until you drop. I don't see anyone taking away your freedom as a consumer or shopkeeper...how is someone declaring they're not going to shop taking away your freedom?
you (and others like yourself) fail when you try to change the conversation from someone opining that the stores should be closed as an attack on your freedoms.
Stores were closed all day on Thanksgiving up until a few years ago...guess we did okay. You must have been lamenting your lack of freedom...”
