Leadership, Obama Style, and the Looming Losses in 2010: Pretty Speeches, Compromised Values, and the Quest for the Lowest Common Denominator

“Let's be honest, the personal attacks from the far righ affected Obama. I think he felt compelled to prove them wrong by showing a willingness to compromise, and he played into their hands. He didn't want to appear overbearing, and ignored their primary goal of bringing him down. I firmly believe that the Republicans are so confident that the anti-Obama sentiment in their party can carry the day for them that they don't have to compromise or do anything but oppose the President. I hope it's not too late for him to turn things around.”
BMcCue7 replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 11:33:22
“To compromise is part of his personality. He has never tried to hide this tendency.
Obama seems like the sort of man who genuinely believes that most problems can be solved by sitting down together with those who oppose you, and to work out a compromise. He is not a man with a quick temper; no, he seems to have a very long fuse.
Are these characteristics virtues, or are they faults? I think a little of both.
Obama may get tired of being opposed at every turn, and eventually run out of patience. If that happens, he may turn right around and get nasty on his detractors. Like they say, "Beware the wrath of a patient man."”

Harry Reid Should be Asked: WWLBJD With Lieberman?

“That's where Obama made his mistake- trying to get a coalition bill passed, when he should have known it wasn't going to happen. (Jim DeMint declaring that defeating health care reform was the best way to 'bring down Obama' might have been a clue!). It was fear that LBJ might "reach out" in an unpleasant way that so persuasive.”

I DO think it's worth questioning whether those organizing and orchestrating those protesters are more concerned with patriotism or with personal and political gain.”

“It wasn't Sarah the" truth-teller" that endeared her to her followers, it was Sarah the "gleeful attacker" of Barack Obama. She is shrewd enough to know that that's what will keep them coming back for more.”

“Indie2008 .. that is SO true .. on Sarah's OFFICIAL site, 60% of posts are about praising her (book, beauty, unverified Notes etc) and 40% are about slamming Obama with whatever latest nonsense they have dug up on the 'reliable part' of the Internet ... anything contradicting their views, is from the UNRELIABLE part of the Internet!
Her site is nothing but a hate site, where people who HATE OBAMA congregate ... they have latched onto Sarah as their figurehead for that, not her policies on issues, since she is out of her depth there.”

“It's true, he had organized opposition from- no, actually before- the day he took office-- It was almost lmost unprecedented, no "honeymoon" at all ! Yes, he has made some mistakes, but most of them were due to trying to maintaining the status quo, not in departing from it. It just seems ironic that those who are holding President Obama to such high performance standards after 9 months, tolerated the failures of President Bush for 8 years.”
