Now You Can Say It, President-Elect Obama: "So What If I Am a Muslim?"
Commented Nov 10, 2008 at 09:50:09 in Politics
“I was just going to point this out. Obama DID say it shouldn't matter on Larry King Live, on 07/15/2008. Transcript avaiable: http://tra nscripts.c nn.com/TRA NSCRIPTS/0 807/15/lkl .01.html
"One last point I want to -- I do want to make about these e- mails, though. And I think this has an impact on this "New Yorker" cover. You know, this is actually an insult against Muslim-Americans, something that we don't spend a lot of time talking about. And sometimes I've been derelict in pointing that out.
You know, there are wonderful Muslim-Americans all across the country who are doing wonderful things. And for this to be used as sort of an insult or to raise suspicions about me I think is unfortunate. And it's not what America is all about."”

“Marriage is not about pro-creation. If that were true, then women who have had hysteretomies would not be allowed to marry, women past menopause would not be allowed to marry, men who have had vasectomies would not be allowed to marry, old people would not be allowed to marry. This just an attempt to justify your prejudice.
Bil, I am straight so I cannot completely understand your anger, but I try. I would have voted no on Prop 8. I support your fight for equal rights.
However, I do not understand your anger towards Rosie and Kelli. She has been outspoken representative of the LGBT community for years. Do you really think more money would have changed bigoted minds?”

While some of the more rabid Democrats did cross a line during the campaign, I don't think Obama or his representatives did. They did not accuse McCain of being a terrorist. They did not try to make people hate McCain. Obama stuck to policy differences. The McCain got personal.”

Cloris Leachman is Booted Off Dancing With the Stars After Judges' Unfairly Nasty Comments
Commented Oct 31, 2008 at 10:10:09 in Entertainment
“well, I agree with the author. It's called a difference of opinion, not a lie.
If the producers didn't want Cloris to stick around, they shouldn't have put her on the show. Each season, there one person who outlasts better dancers due to showmanship or entertainment value in spite of a lack of superior dance skills. Jerry Springer, Marie Osmond, George Hamiltion.
The show IS a popularity contest. That's why Susan Lucci is still there. Her AMC fans are extremely loyal even though her dancing skills are obviously subpar. She was even more ridiculous than Cloris during the group dance and Lucci was trying.”

Palin on SNL: What Did You Expect?
Commented Oct 20, 2008 at 16:20:38 in Entertainment
“I don't think she is a horrible person. I think most of the disdain is not because she does not think what we think, but moreso because she does think. By that, I mean, she does not appear to have original thoughts; she lacks intelluctual curiousity and takes pride in it (those who think are elistist). She parrots that the campaign tells her to say. She is good at this. She is an excellent public speaker. But she gives no indication that she has given any deep thought to what she says.”
Whatareyouthinking replied on Oct 20, 2008 at 17:06:35
“And all of you who have so much respect for Sarah Palin think we should respect Joe Biden who cannot go through one week without stepping on his tounge and saying something stupid. Come on...if it was Palin saying those things, you would skewer her. You all have blinders on. The should both be respected whether you agree or not.”
Proletarian101 replied on Oct 20, 2008 at 16:45:14
“What are your requirements to show original thinking? Have you personally met her? Have you had a conversation to know how she thinks? As I say, I am not a fan of her policies but she has given me no reason to disrepect or belittle her.”

A Note to Bill Clinton
Commented Sep 24, 2008 at 12:20:08 in Politics
“Abbie, it would be different if Bill Clinton wasn't out there at all. If he was just lying low. But he keeps making lukewarm public statements about Obama that do nothing to help. As Slansky said, it is clear his wounded ego has not yet healed. Either shut up and stay home. Or get busy getting Obama elected.”
AbbieXHoffman replied on Sep 24, 2008 at 13:38:22
“So what if his ego is not healed. SO THE EFF WHAT. I don't expect it to be. He and his wife were villified by a bunch of morons when they could have beat her more respectfully. Ego has everything to do with politicians motivation and success and so what. BO is has a huge ego as anyone who runs for POTUS or has served does. Thank God they do--I can't image how they'd accomplish anything if they didn't.
Bill is doing all he should and don't bet that BO hasn't asked him to lay relatively low. He doesn't want to look weak if Bill continues to make the case for dems better than BO. It makes BO look like an unexperienced newbie. Bill could overshadow BO in five seconds when it comes to making the case to vote for BO. He is being respectful and falling in line as BO wants and frankly should want.”

So McCain Can't Send An Email -- Reagan Rode A Horse
Commented Sep 15, 2008 at 10:42:25 in Media
“I think it was an effective and important ad. McCain is out of touch with regular Americans. Whether it is not knowing how many houses he owns or not being able to send an email or his advisors thinkign Americans are whiny or that all Americans have health insurance because they can go to the ER. It is relevant to point these things out.
Also, McCain has admitted he is not very knowledgable about the economy. Technology is a huge part of our economy these days. We need a president who understands this. Privacy issues regarding the internet will be a big issues for the next president.
McCain must doesn't get it and Obama needs to hammer at that, IMO.”

As Long As We're Talking About Michelle Obama, Did You Know Cindy McCain Was A Drug Addict?
Commented Jun 19, 2008 at 14:32:04 in Politics
“I'll agree that drug addition itself does not make one a bad person, but stealing? stealing from a charity? that's not defensible. It was wrong morally and criminally. I'm sure she is sorry, but as the author said, she didn't pay a price for crimes. And now, to have the nerve, to act all pious and sanctimonious, is makes me sick. The public deserves to know her past.”

What's My Logo: Madeleine Albright Talks Signature Brooches And Barack Obama's Missing Lapel Pin (VIDEO)
Commented May 07, 2008 at 09:43:58 in Living
“Obama has been very clear about his reasons for no longer wearing a flag pin. He felt it has become a empty gestture. The pin, Obama said, "became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest." He rightly noted that some people wearing lapel pins don't act very patriotic.

Top 10 Myths Keeping Hillary in the Race

“So, if Obama is wining why is it that he does not want to seat FL and Michigan delegates and has been killing every effort to do re-vote there?
As the article stated, this is simply not true. Obama HAS reached to FL and tried to reach a compromise. HRC is the one who only wants revotes.
why is he stealing the nomination caucus by caucus?
Why is winning a caucus considered stealing? Because HRC can't win over caucus goers?
Why is he not able to gets votes from the democratic base? He is. I am a member of the base and he's got my vote. He ALSO has crossover appeal. Obama couldn't do as well as he has without the base.”
