“They are doing everything in their power (which seems to be quite a lot) to break the Union. Dear old Ronnie must be smiling down upon them.”

“What makes you think Ronnie is in heaven? Smilin' down, indeed!
If there is a hell, he's there and he'll end up sharing a room with Cheney and W! (I'm in AZ and hope that our elected twit, John Kyle makes an early migration to the hot place! What a S. O. B.!)”

“Ironically I think they will end up strengthening unions. At least I hope so. Trickle down economics doesn't work! It's just a Golden Shower on all of us who work. That's now a proven fact.
It's time for the workers to see what's happening and organize, baby, organize.”

Can Obama Pull Off a Historic Presidential Double Play?
Commented Nov 10, 2008 at 17:46:46 in Politics
“Unfortunately, as we well know, history repeats. What the Bush regime has done should never be allowed to happen again. Only precedent setting and prosecution can deter future power mongers from using this example as a jumping off place for their own devices.”
The Other Side of Paradise

“Heartbreaking. What kind of garbage are they hearing in our military that this election would elicit these types of comments regarding their soon to be Commander in Chief?”

“And still....the issue of "religion"...what will it take to show that the "FEAR" that he might be muslim is a non-issue...if he were..why hasn't the Secret service reported all those prayers to Mecca?
If he were...so what? Haven't we as a Nation lost Muslim soldiers?
They are just too young to remember the fear that was in high gear when that Catholic guy ran for President and we heard about our Nation being run from the Vatican...remember...JFK?”

Relationship Politics: Body Language Of The McCain Marriage
Commented Oct 24, 2008 at 10:40:00 in Living
“A previous piece on HuffPost regarding the McCains showed pix from 2000 as well as 2007 - 2008. I commented then that there was an enormous difference in the couple's body language from 2000 to present. Whatever happened during that period of time obviously ruined their relationship. It's sad, but more than that it's very uncomfortable for casual observers (the American public) to witness. Uncomfortable and creepy.”

“I am so glad I am not alone on this. Today as I almost wrecked my car when I saw a yard sign that just read "SARAH! ". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or vomit. I too flip off those with McCain signs and wave at those with Obama. I too yell at Pat Buchanan, McCain, Palin and Nancy Pfuteunour (however you spell this twits name).
I am on the internet visiting youtube, msnbc and the other usual sites so much that my sons have marked the calender to count the days until they can use the computer again. My husband is probably contemplating leaving me and I can't eat or sleep. Every paper I have written for my professors revoIve around this election. I have no choice but to watch the Nov 4th election alone and that irritates me to no end.
I really feel like I am losing my mind and you have no idea how much your article (and the fellow bloggers) have helped me so, thank you.”

McCain's Desperate Claim: Obama is Dangerous. Vote for Me If You Want to Live!
Commented Oct 06, 2008 at 17:28:09 in Politics
“I'm hearing this from conservative friends, too. But what I'm also hearing from several of them is that they have decided they not going to vote at all. If only I could believe them!”
jbink replied on Oct 06, 2008 at 17:45:25
“That would be fine with me, sad to say. I don't actually identify myself as "Conservative" or "Liberal." I feel more "nuanced" than that. I wish we could come up with better terms, but I guess it just wouldn't be expedient.”
Ifill Book Public Weeks Before McCain Agreed To Have Her Moderate VP Debate
Commented Oct 01, 2008 at 13:18:10 in Politics
“Have you read it? I have not. I'm simply going by what I've read in the reviews and a brief synopsis, thus my use of the term "ostensibly". But maybe you have read it and you know better. The knee jerk reaction is due to Obama's name in the title. I agree with you only in that the McCain campaign will use this to their advantage and they are loud and ugly.”
Ifill Book Public Weeks Before McCain Agreed To Have Her Moderate VP Debate
Commented Oct 01, 2008 at 12:24:15 in Politics
“Oh, yeah, the McCain campaign is going to use this and say Ifill is biased. But Ifill's book is ostensibly about young, up and coming African Americans in politics and how they are changing the game in the U.S. That includes Republican as well as Democrats. So, if the McCain campaign cries foul, does that make them racist? Just asking.”
ReAsonSpeAker replied on Oct 01, 2008 at 12:54:16
“"The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama." The title alone shows the focus of the book. It's about up and coming African Americans in the "Age of Obama," not up and coming African American politicians in the new century.
It's in the democrats best interests to let someone else moderate the debate. Katie Couric would be a good choice. The republicans wouldn't be able to complain or cry foul about bias.”

A Note to Bill Clinton
Commented Sep 24, 2008 at 13:03:24 in Politics
“After watching Clinton on Letterman, it seems to me that he should just fold up his tent and go away. It's over Bill. We loved you once, but no longer. Do Obama and the Democratic party a favor and stop pretending you're trying. You do more harm than good. Please, just go away until November.”

Musician Zack de la Rocha Leads Protest In St Paul; Police Disperse Crowds With Tear Gas
Commented Sep 03, 2008 at 15:17:16 in Home
“I get so tired of disenfranchised conservatives proclaiming that they're ALL bad - Republicans AND Democrats. The Republican fiasco cannot be lumped in with both parties. The Democrats have made mistakes - the Republicans have created chaos. Big difference.”

Does a New Start Have a Chance?
Commented Jul 25, 2008 at 15:01:28 in Politics
“I have only one contention with Mr. Chopra's beautiful piece. I believe it is quite possible that the fate of the world COULD hang in the balance regarding this election. A continuation of the present regime can only precipitate more bloodshed in Iraq, more environmental havoc, less humanitarianism, and growing hatred among the world for the US and its policies. Barack Obama is not a messiah, but a man who appears to be enlightened and with a firm grasp on reality. We need him very much and can only hope that he is strong enough to withstand what will be thrown at him by those who refuse to give up power.”
