Ben Affleck On The Difference Between Raising Boys And Girls: 'My Son Just Runs Into Walls'

Ben Affleck On The Difference Between Raising Boys And Girls: 'My Son Just Runs Into Walls'

“What a stupid, sexist article this is of no value whatsoever!”

Knowitall on Sep 19, 2013 at 15:23:28

“I could not disagree More. I'm no doubt a lot older than you, and grew up at a time when most men related to their sons, and basically ignored their daughters, until other boys became interested in them (too late.) Except for the relationships some girls had with their brothers (which in some cases was always adversarial), they didn't learn how a man should treat a woman and vice versa.

I Love that men are becoming aware that women should learn how they should be treated by men at home, not only by observing how their father and other men treat their mother, but also by how their father treats them. The father also provides an example to his sons about how to treat women.

Abuse and disrespect is often multigenerational and mutual. Women and men who have learned to treat each other with respect will pass it on to their children.
There is GREAT value in a father being a Father to his daughter.”

LittleRedHenSez on Sep 19, 2013 at 15:10:51

“An article about dads who love their little girls is nice and I'd think you could at least see that they have a more respectful attitude toward their wives and women in general because of it. I suspect you have boys.”

They do negotiate for Veterans and Medicaid and the prices According to the WaPo:
"Two Democrats, Representative Henry A. Waxman of California and Senator John D. Rockefeller IV of West Virginia, recently introduced bills that would require drug manufacturers to pay the higher Medicaid rebates for drugs provided to Medicare beneficiaries who are also eligible for Medicaid. President Obama’s deficit-reduction commission has endorsed the proposal, saying it could save $49 billion over 10 years."”

“Didn't the US deploy chemical weapon in Vietnam to an even larger extent (Napalm). Did any American Generals who authorized this get dragged to court as war criminals? Kerry has a double standard of the first order in his hand. How many Vietnamese died from Napalm, which was an illegal chemical weapon, prohibited by international laws the US was a signatory of?”

“You left out "WIllie Peter" - White Phosphorus. It was used in hand grenades, artillery shells, and aerial bombs, often in concert with NaPalm. WP fragments and sticks to skin/flesh. It then burns down through the flesh. Putting water on it doesn't extinguish it and it releases a poisonous particulate as it burns.

I'm not certain but I believe the US signed the chemical weapons treaty after the Vietnam war. It was then that we stopped using both NaPalm and WP. I shall double check that.”

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), states are considered a party to the convention, which entered into force as international law in December 1983, if they ratify at least two of the five protocols.
