"This Is It" Is All That Remains

“You have said so beautifully everything I have been thinking and couldn't find words for. Beautiful post. I think about something that Kenny Ortega said - that Michael, even though he had been doing this work since he was little more than a baby, never lost his love of it. Nor his basic and decency and kindness and loving spirit. All that shows in this film. I too hope that "he's out there somewhere smiling" - and that his spirit is dancing.”

“As a longtime MJ fan I can only say - thank you for the reasoned, thoughtful, touching comments. It's nice to read an article from someone with no axe to grind or agenda to push. You are dead on right Francine. Michael was not perfect - he was just a man. But what an extraordinary, gifted, kind and loving man he was. I loved the movie too - and thank everyone involved - from the crew and cast to Kenny Ortega and Travis Payne and Michael Bearden - what a show it would have been! Thanks also to Michael's family - especially his children - for sharing him with us. Remember - it's all for l.o.v.e.”

“Mr. Lundberg: a small correction to your article. The musical director for Michael Jackson's "This Is It" tour is MIchael Bearden - not James Bearden.
Thanks for printing MJ's poem - I'm looking forward to listening to the CD of the film - and hearing this poem read by Michael.”

“Don't want to harp on this subject - but I just wanted to amend something I said at the end of my comment. When I say "let the rest of us enjoy it" - I mean let those of us who care about the film "This Is It' enjoy it, let us enjoy MJ's music, let us celebrate the man - his immense talent and his huge good heart. Let his fans and his admirers have this time. Like I said - the headlines will die down soon enough.”

“I have to kind of laugh when people (like Jon Chattman) write articles about subjects who they believe are being written (or spoken or whatever) too much about. Are you doing this for free Mr. Chattman? Or did someone pay you to write an article on your belief that Michael Jackson is being written about too much? It all seems very easy. Every day there are stories on this site and others that I don't wish to read about - so I don't. The same goes with the newspaper and TV shows, the radio, etc. Obviously there is huge market in all things related to MJ . As for the Jackson - I feel badly for them. If they give interviews or plan TV shows - they are seen as capitalizing on MJ's death. If they were to do nothing - I feel pretty sure that the howls - at least from some quarters - would be almost as loud. And isn't Michael's estate entitled to benefit from Michael's music? It was, after all, his. Shouldn't his children receive the benefits as he wished? I for one am happy to hear about Michael - he was truly a once in lifetime talent; and I'm thrilled that I will have the chance to see MJ perform one final time. The headlines will die down soon enough - in the meantime Mr. Chattman, I suggest that you turn the channel and read something else. And let the rest of us enjoy it”

“Joe,
Thank you. When I saw the results of the vote from the IOC this afternoon, I thought - who the heck talked the President into making this pitch? But you know something. You are absolutely dead on right. Thank you President Obama and Mrs. Obama. I'm too am glad you took the time to make the est possible case for Chicago and the USA. Thank you both - and all of the delegation - you did your best. Congratulations to Rio and Brazi! It is past time that South America hosts the Olympics - looking forward to watching them.
To the city of Chicago and the USOC - you continue to make us proud!”

One More for Michael Jackson

“Well said. I think the general public could never see Michael as anything other than an icon - never as just a man - with all the frailties and foibles that come with being a human being. How sad that we could never let him just be 'Mike'.
I really look forward to seeing/hearing the creative project that Gotham and Michael worked on together.
Thank you to all his true friends, like Gotham, who knew Mike. What amazing memories you must have - thank you for sharing some of them.”

“Obviously, you have not been paying attention. President Obama hand wrote a letter that was delivered to the Jackson family. He has spoken about Michael's passing on at least 2 occasions (and possibly more) that I have heard. Come one. Poor taste? You don't know what he wrote in that letter to the family - it's none of our business.”

“Who fears her? The fact that this woman can't seem to form one coherent thought of her own is what people are commenting on. If she can - let's hear it. But remember the key words here: coherent and original thought. And if it's factual that would be nice too. Have an idea that we're going to have a long wait for it to happen.”

“Maybe that is just what he is doing - getting out of the way and letting this be handled by the justice system. That doesn't mean he is defending the Bush policies. It just doesn't. I don't suppose that anyone here has considered the fact that releasing more of these photos now might, and I say might, tarnish any legal proceedings that may be forthcoming? Isn't it possible that these photos could be considered evidence in a legal proceding? I notice many here so that noone is going to be prosecuted. And you know this how? Didn't Pres Obama say several weeks ago that any prosecutions are up to the Justice Department? The claim that he is blocking prosecutions and against them is disengenuous and false. I understand the frustration and anger - I do. I just think that many people here are being unfair and claiming things that just aren't so. There is a difference between revenge and retribution and letting the law take its course. I am waiting to see how the DOJ proceeds - it is after all, their job.”

“I'm sorry but I have to disagree with John Cusack here. He writes that Pres Obama is defending the indefensible. How does he arrive at that conclusion? At no time has President Obama EVER defended what went on at Abu Ghraib (sorry if I am not spelling it correctly) or at any other detention center or prison where these abhorrent practices occurred. And now, because of apparently persuasive arguments (which neither John Cusack, the ACLU or anyone here have been privy to) from his military commanders in the field and has decided to delay releasing the pictures - Mr. Cusack makes the leap that he is condoning these practices? That's quite a leap. Yes, It's disappointing - and I think they should be released too. And I think they will be.”
HummusGringo replied on May 16, 2009 at 08:14:13
“It's not a leap at all. By refusing to prosecute and even BLOCKING the prosecution deeply immoral, criminal behavior, he is, himself, guilty. End of story.
