“I agree with dgoshilla, this article is a joke. This word "hipster" is perplexing: "It's not suprising that hipster candidate Garcetti -- who drives a Prius, lives in Silverlake and is part-Mexican -- polled better among liberals." Since when does driving a Prius make you a hipster? The same for being part-Mexican? It makes me wonder about the bias of the writer/editor. Frankly, I'm surprised that the Huffington Post would allow this kind of nonsense in a political article.”
“Great article! Well written and evocative. It's good to know there are neo-pagans thriving in L.A. I'd love to see more articles like this on HuffPost.
As far as all the negative comments, I think Starhawk would be the first to make fun of herself and her name. She probably would not consider herself a "leader" in a consensus-based organization that's non-heirarchical. .
As far as this "religion" being a comic book. Ha ha. That's very insightful, but deconstruct the world's major religions and you'll see all sorts of super-powers and super-tools in action.
Most people in the Craft adopt a circle name to protect their muggle identities. There's intense hatred towards witches, neo-pagans, wiccans, Goddess-worshippers, and anyone not ascribing to Xtianity and the big three religions. Using an alias is a way to protect yourself from co-workers, neighbors, family members, etc.”

“Sure, but if that was the intent in her case it probably backfired a long time ago. It's hard to be semi-famous and anonymous at the same time. There are also other reasons to have a circle name (secret name, magic name etc).”
