“Spending their own money on your kids because of such low wages and you attack these American workers.
There is nothing wrong with working for a living which is all these americans want.

You will never win on this as long as you use un-American tactics of attacking hard working Americans.

Either you are for American workers, these protectors or you're against the country. No other side”

Democratic Congresswoman Jackie Speier Talks About Her Terminated Pregnancy [UPDATE]

Commented Feb 18, 2011 at 11:33:13 in Politics

“Her situation has nothing to do with defunding Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood's mission is to make money, and they do it by utilizing a political firebomb. I notice that she said she "lost the baby," not that she lost some clumps of cells, so she can't be a Democrat, unless we now allow the one who is pregnant to define when a fetus is alive. I have personal experience with PP's operations. They do not care what happens to the girls and women they treat, they care about getting cash when a girl walks in the door. If they did, they would be pursuing prosecution for men who get underage girls pregnant, especially in cases of incest, and for pimps whoring girls out. There is no investigation and no questions asked except to ask if you have the money. After the procedure, girls are back on the street within a couple of hours. Nobody at PP is making sure they have transportation once they leave the clinic. Nobody asks if they have somewhere safe to go. That's because if they go after the men getting the girls pregnant, they will cut into their profits. The Representative in the article had to have an abortion because her doctor failed to prevent the situation that made the abortion necessary. She should sue her doctor for pain and suffering for subjecting her to the loss of her child. This has nothing to do with PP, which is the Burger King of abortions.”

“Totally false statement. During the negotiations with the car companies, unions made major concessions to strike a deal that would save the industry. And besides, the unions represent "everybody else." It's mostly the corporations that have the problem delivering huge profits to their shareholders by weakening bargaining tools and lowering pay and benefits for "everybody else" in the process.”

“ok. so you don't like Justin Beiber and you like Jazz. Some young people like Jazz, but most don't. It sounds like old people's music. You are making the same kind of complaints that were made about Elvis, The Osmonds, the Jackson 5, the BeeGees, New Kids on the Block and every pop band that's ever come along. Catering to teenager's music preferences has been going on for many decades now, and the old people never like the new stuff that's out. I HATE much of the music that was popular in the 50's and 60's, especially all that syrupy old crap from American Graffitti and the Carpenters. I despise the Beatles, the Doors and as much as I hate it, I know both sentences and nonsense of Iron Butterfly's Ina Goda da Vida. That was my parents' and older siblings music, not mine. Yet, I love Elton John's music, like some Blues singers you've probably never heard of, as well as Nickelback and some of the others you look down on. Enjoying music is about listening to whatever you like. These kids who think they are in love with JB will grow up soon and other artists will take JB's place. Let them enjoy what they want. They will do it anyway.”

“I've got family who have lived in NJ. They moved away before he became Gov. They felt like the taxes and cost of living was too high. They seem to like what he's been doing. I have friends who still live there (Dems, BTW), and they don't want to talk about CC, but they have grudgingly admitted they like some of the stuff he's done, like confronting the teacher's unions. They like his straight talk. I think that part of the issue in NJ is that the taxes AND spending have been too high for too long, and the state just keeps raising the taxes yet the schools are getting worse. People don't feel like they are getting much benefit from the high taxes they pay. They feel like the teachers have been given control of the school system and now they're like a drunken mob at Mardi Gras, with no regard for the people who pay their salaries and the students they are supposed to be teaching.”

“I have no problem with moms being encouraged to breastfeed, but I don't see it happening very much with moms who are on gov't assistance. They already reject it, even though it's cheaper and better for the baby. If those on gov't assistance are made to do this, you're going to see more infant deaths from drugs through the milk, babies suffering and dying from malnutrition, etc. The moms are often too young and ignorant to understand the role of proper nutrition for themselves, much less for when they are breastfeeding an infant. Even worse, they don't care about proper nutrition. They already raise their kids on crap food, like McDonald's.

Breastfeeding has a lot of health advantages, but it's not sexy and you can't be putting your baby in daycare all day without pumping a lot of milk. How many daycares are going to have the proper resources to make sure each baby gets the right milk, etc? The moms and the daycare workers will be watering down the milk when they don't have enough. Gov't subsidized breastfeeding is a road to nowhere. Mom's will still have to be provided with formula, because you never know when the mom's milk will dry up. That can be caused and exacerbated by numerous things - hydration, nutrition, and natural timing, to name a few. Every one's body is different when it comes to breastfeeding. The gov't will make sure it's not cheaper, whatever they do.”

What the New Census Data Can, and Can't, Tell Us About New Orleans

Commented Feb 15, 2011 at 22:55:20 in Politics

“I know one family that moved to SC after Katrina. The woman worked with me and she was a person who had led a pretty hard life in NOLA. She was thrilled to be in SC, working, and her husband found a job, too. She said she felt safer and the house she was renting was better and cheaper than where she had been living in NOLA. she told me one of her sisters had filed four or five false claims with the fed. gov't, claiming to have lost several houses, two apartments, and all her possessions. She said her sister didn't own anything and had been staying with various friends and relatives before Katrina. Don't know how all that turned out, but my friend got laid off and found another job before her time was out at the first one. She said that she would never want to go back to NO, and was working to get more of her family to move away from it.”
