John Thune: The GOP's Answer to Obama?

John Thune: The GOP's Answer to Obama?

Commented Dec 11, 2009 at 18:45:55 in Politics

“Good looking and maybe as good as the President at basketball ............ about as relevant criteria wise as S. Palin ready for the job because she is scoring big time with a tell all book. I believe Obama actually wrote his books however.

Time to get serious folks. A pretty face does not a leader make.”

conservativelady replied on Dec 12, 2009 at 12:42:32

“That's why the Republican party is losing, they keep getting mislead by people who really don't have what it takes to be a good poltical leader, Palin is a media star, people are being mislead by her stardom and meanwhile socialism will continue to destroy the country. Romney is needed or someone like him, not just someone with star power who only the base loves. It won't work. Palin understands almost nothing about policy and can only talk about it in very general terms, she is no Reagan, he knew policy like the back of his hand. Palin isn't doing anyone any favors, she is only helping herself,. Too bad so many evangelicals are so gulible, Jesus said the truth should set you free, how can you see the truth if you are so easily taken in just because someone sparkels? She's not presidential, end of story!”

Chris Matthews Criticizes Obama Using Cheney's "Dithering" Remark (VIDEO)

Commented Nov 21, 2009 at 09:13:24 in Politics

“I am increasingly aware that Chris Matthews is more about loving the sound of his own voice rather than contributing substantially to the political dialogue.

This dialogue is just another topic on his "look at ME" list.

He asks questions and then answers them ...... badgering his interviewee to agree with his 'right" answer. "You don't have to agree with me I know I'm right"

His discussion with David Plouffe was a clear example. He, Matthews, states that the administration's focus is political. Plouffe said that the President is focused on what needs to be done now for the country. Matthews continued to harass because Plouffe would not confirm his opinion. Matthews concluded that he was right, its all about politics and that Plouffe was mad at him.

His constant ginning up of Palin as the sparkling candidate for 2012 is just him having fun and campaigning for more exciting sensational press, not that he really believes that she is the best future leader of the free world.

He is not a credible journalist. He wants to be the new Rush.

I have turned him off.”

Commented Oct 06, 2009 at 10:41:47 in Media

“The reason Rachel Maddow understands that she is not Senate material is because extremely smart people often do not have patience for lengthy debate with those less gifted. They already have mentally sped ahead to the clear answer.

The reason also that B.O. was not destined for a long Senate career.

I know from whence I speak having married MENSA members. (Yes I was not smart enough to learn from the first mistake)”

Senate GOP Mailer Suggests Dem Health Care System Will Discriminate By Race

Commented Sep 21, 2009 at 13:27:08 in Politics

“So my question is, why is this and other forms of dishonesty not challenged - in the press or in Congress?

Couldn't Senator Cornyn be forced to cite sources in the proposed bills, for each and every assertion in this survey and in his (outrageous) letter? If he doesn't or won't then he should be forced to apologize on the Senate floor for his (their) chicanery.

I noticed that "insurance" is mentioned only once in each document. The survey asks if the responder thinks that their biggest worry is that "the cost of medical insurance is too high".

In the letter he asks - among other things " ....... should the federal government have the power to:

* Seriously undermine private health care insurers who currently serve tens of millions of Americans?

I personally think that this last issue is the point and purpose of their whole negative campaign - that and causing damage to the Obama administration.”

Obama's Case for Sanity - Step One: Shun Fox

Commented Sep 20, 2009 at 13:08:20 in Media

“On the other hand, if President Obama had spoken with Chris Wallace - Fox Speak will (or would have) used what ever the President said to fuel their continuing right wing vitriol BUT perhaps some - a few of those who take in a daily dose of Fox might have listened with an open mind and added his measured reason to the mix of information by which they judge this health reform effort.

How could that be bad?”

Sharon Hunt replied on Sep 21, 2009 at 11:16:59

“everything the President said if he went on Fox News would have been tainted. Also, why should he go on Fox when Fox refuses to air any of his newsconferences? Two weeks ago, when he spoke to a joint session of Congress, Fox didn't broadcast that. You can't have it both ways Faux!!! I truly believe that people who watch Fox on a daily basis are brainwashed.”

Rep. John Shimkus Walked Out On Obama Speech Out Of "Frustration"

Commented Sep 10, 2009 at 22:44:35 in Politics

“Screaming insults- walking out how about the clear rudeness of cantor texting on his blackberry during the speech.

All of these activities if done during high school would warrant a trip to the principals office. Where are the grownups on the conservative side of the aisle?”

LindaFS replied on Sep 10, 2009 at 22:59:56

“That's the thing that really gets me about all of this...the systemic nature of this behavior. The holding up of papers, the signs, etc. Cantor has always come across as a bit childish, but this is clearly a strategy that was discussed across the party, so we've got a group of lemmings. Didn't anyone anywhere raise the flag that this is not acceptable behavior? I'd like to donate to THAT guy. I hope school kids were watching a re-run of Obama's speech to them and not this very poor example of "leadership".”

“So have we collectively forgotten how devastating it was to everyone to have a President shot, his brother shot, other heroes gone Martin, Malcolm and even pop-heroes - Lennon.

The guns at these rallies have only one purpose and that is to intimidate and raise the vitriol level up another notch. Why do their "rights" supersede those of all the other people there to engage in patriotic discourse. Peaceful people who come to help solves problems before us but talking and debating - calmly, rationally toward a common goal of bettering the life of all Americans. Yelling, screaming and yes intimidation with guns stops debate.

Maybe all we need bring for these guys to demonstrate their manhood is a ruler. Measure it and get over it.”

Kirsten Gillibrand Called "Tracy Flick" Of NY Politics

Commented Jan 23, 2009 at 21:34:05 in Politics

“Sounds like we have our own Sarah Palin.

The Governor (and the press) handled this very badly.

Caroline Kennedy did not deserve the slamming that she got. She has lead a great, intellectual, life of service and the law. She would have been great. That fact that she stepped up for Obama after 50 years of working behind the scenes tells me that her heart was in it.”

meko replied on Jan 23, 2009 at 21:50:37

“When it comes to being a lawyer, Gillibrand has a better resume than Kennedy.
* She graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth
* She did well enough in law school at UCLA to have clerk of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals be her first post-graduation position
* She made partner at a major law firm

Her pro bono legal work matches up to Kennedy's volunteer work - in fact, I'll bet it totals up to more hours of work.

Gillibrand is one of the most successful fundraisers in congress. She won reelection in her district.

So what makes her a lightweight. Heck, she's even a better public speaker than Kennedy.”
