His (funny??) monologue last night was in poor taste. Why did he encourage people to laugh about his infidelities and even add a few wisecracks after the break? Poor taste, Dave, very poor taste.

I feel for his wife, son and mother.”

“I watched this Oprah show with sadness and admittedly some cynicism.

If her story is true, I am truly sorry for McKensie and her family. Yet, I can't help but wonder if this is not yet another publicity stunt. Hopefully, if this troubled woman is sincere, all profits from the book will go to charity. . .and she will seek help.”

Fluer replied on Nov 02, 2009 at 15:46:48

“Hey Janel, just curious if you would be inclined to believe Mckenzie, and that she really is a victim of such heinous abuse, why would you not want her to receive anything good from her ommision of this? Why is it so important to people like yourselves that victims are never compensated in any way for the terror they have endured? Please tell me why she would not deserve anything good to come out of this for herself, in your opinion? If she does not prosper as human being does that make her sincere, and somehow more trustworthy, accountable,or believable to you? It seems to me if you were infact worried about the sincerity of her life story, this would be a pretty easy call. She could have easily just published a book on her sexual exploits with rich and famous, lord knows thats acceptable and EXTREMELY proffitable. No one in the world would choose a "sensational" story that subjected themselves to shame, judgement, ridicule, and endless opinions from the desperately ignorant!”

“For years I have puzzled over why Lou Dobbs "fits" on CNN. For the most part, they report the news with little bias, though not 100 percent. The Repubs have Fox, and the Dems have MSNBC. It seems to me that Dobbs would fit well with Fox.

I turn the channel or my TV off when Dobbs is on. He a smug, self-righteous bore whose main audience are individuals too lazy to get the facts for himself. Dobbs has done more to rile people with grips about our government than almost anyone, except Linbaugh.

At this point in our history, I'm hoping those in charge will think of the American people. . .about the information that is being sent over the airwaves. For me, it doesn't have to be all pro or con any party. It would just be helpful to get the facts. . .

Get Dobbs off the air, please, and replace him with an objective reporter (is there one out there??).”

"Yes We Can" Returns: Obama Leads Campaign-Style Health Care Rally

Commented Sep 12, 2009 at 18:25:13 in Politics

“Despite all the "put downs" of our new president, I admire his tenacity and courage. We have seen and heard more from him in the past eight months than we did from our former commander-in-chief over eight years.

I'm hoping and praying that our leaders will come to their senses and work together for the good of ALL Americans, not just those with high salaries and selfish motives.

Obama came to the right state to begin his crusade for health care. Our current governor is not listened to much here in the midlands. . .I doubt he would carry Minnesota should he run for president.”

“While I respect the right of Americans to protest, I am appalled to read the signs that were distributed at the Washington Rally. The "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" signs indicate the insensitivity, ignorance and selfishness of those who waved them for the cameras.

It appears they only care about their own needs. Likely most of them have insurance. Likely what they fear most is higher taxes. As far as "government spending," they have erased from their small minds the mess that our former administration created and did nothing. . .NOTHING. . .about.

I just can't accept that this group of Americans represent our great nation at its best.”

“I think it was a great speech. Contrary to one who posted earlier, Obama (in my opinion) isn't trying to win this for "himself." This is a promise he made to voters during the campaign. . .and one he personally believes will benefit "us" as Americans.

My contempt is for those ridiculous Republicans who sat as if glued to their chairs and refused to stand up for some of the values Obama espoused that will benefit all Americans.

My prayer is that many who may have believed their stupid lies about "death camps" and insurance for illegal americans will have come to their senses after hearing their president's message.

God bless America!”

squeakette replied on Sep 09, 2009 at 22:15:48

“I completely agree with you. I was dumbfounded by the Republicans who sat there, looking like their usual miserable selves, when the President made points which we should ALL be applauding. When the President called the death panel craziness a lie--and all the Dems stood--I said to my husband, "Every single person there should be on their feet" because they all know that death panels are a lie. Just can't stop scratching my head over the hardheartedness of these cranks.”

“I watched the President's speech with great pride and gratitude. President Obama is a terrific role model for young people. The students who heard him are winners in every sense of the word.

The children whose parents kept them from hearing this "pep talk" from the leader of our country are the losers. Moreover, the lesson they have learned from their parents is to hold our president in contempt.”

The white parents who were deadset against it kept their kids from attending the prom. IMO, these people have the same mentality. It's an h a t r e d that is ingrained in their soul and is something that they will continue to pass on to their children.

For the life of me, I will never understand disliking someone just because they are not just like me, in every way imaginable.”

As a side note, our governor (Minnesota) was on the air (he has his own show on WCCO radio!) yesterday discouraging school districts to air the President's address to children. I had higher expectations for Governor Pawlenty, but it appears he has stooped to the level of Limbaugh and Bachman. How sad!

President Obama is a terrific role model for our children and grandchildren who will benefit from his words of encouragement. As for those fearmongers who can't find anything positive to say about our president, they will look foolish and petty.”
