“I was in Tokyo at the time and didn't have the opportunity to leave as I was finishing a masters, and these stories written by people of what can at best be described as an inconvenience boggles my mind.

From up north I've heard some pretty bad stories from people I've met, and the momentary worry of a large one during the countless aftershocks doesn't really compare.”

“It is interesting to note that the core of the perpetrator's issues with the Norwegian society were some of the few topics where public and political discourse is suppressed and frowned upon.

What he built upon the foundation of those (perhaps valid) grievances could be a result of a lack of discourse from more balanced sources, leaving only the extreme right to provide answers. There are many issues with multiculturalism in Norway, and if the current political parties aren't willing to be forthright about those and provide practical solutions then people will look elsewhere.”
