“Did you not see the part where it says the family does not have health insurance? I was in an ambulance for 7 minutes and received a $500 bill for that alone. A 4 day stay at the hospital where I pretty much just got fluids, a few xanax and about 4 blood draws was $48,000. Fortunately I have insurance which paid for the vast majority of it. This family didn't have that luxory. Did you not see the part where it says they had to cut a hole in the wall just to get him out?
I swear the comments on this thread are disturbing.”

There is a choice: get a medical bill for your family member to keep them alive, or let them rot away in a chair. Choosing the latter is more irresponsible to me.”

I'm not sure what this has to do with O.J at all. Blacks didn't consider OJ guilty in large part because a racist white cop was caught planting evidence. Which doesn't exactly scream slam dunk case to begin with.

Your daughter(s) would be more likely to die from a motor vehicle accident, drowning, or suicide than undergoing an abortion.
In a perfect world it would be great if children were able to talk to their parents openly, honestly, and constructively about an unplanned pregnancy and work through it together. But we do not live in a perfect world. And there are going to be teenage girls out there who get pregnant and will want to seek an abortion without their parents' knowledge. Yes I think it's great when a pregnant teenager is able to communicate with her parent(s). I just don't think it's great when the government basically forces that communication without the teenager's consent.”

“I can understand that but I don't think it's the government's place to make that decision. Not everyone out there is a "do the right thing" parent. What about girls who are the victims of domestic violence in the home? Or have parents who are more concerned with cultural values, social image, or factor more than their own daughter. I've seen this happen many times. And I also know some families that have been completely split up over unwanted pregnancies. I'm not sure how you can call yourself pro-choice in one sentence when your entire argument is anything but. The only choice given to pregnant teenagers is going to be to inform their parents or let a third party do so because the government tells them to. Sorry that's not right.”

“Realistically being "creepy" isn't a crime. And if you don't want to go through a lengthy and embarrassing trial where your dirty laundry and personal business is aired out and you have the means to avoid it you'll probably take it.
Polanski admitted his guilt. Everyone knows that he did it. Absolutely no one denies that the rape took place. Jackson denied molesting children, a jury listened to months worth of evidence and found him not guilty, and some of his victims have recanted their stories post posthumously. As far as I'm concerned comparing Jackson to Polanski is apples and oranges.
One man committed a crime and got away with it. Another man did nothing yet people believe he committed a crime based on virtually no evidence and finding him "creepy".”

“I really can't figure out why so many people are coming to this man's defense. He gave alcohol and drugged a 13 year old girl. Raped her pretty much every way that is humanly possible. Pleads guilty so five of the six original charges are dropped. And when it looks like he might have to spend a few years in prison he flees the country for 3 decades. Yet people can't stop bending over backwards to say the guy should be left alone. Why?
I mean seriously what message is this sending out to rape victims, especially younger ones? The majority of rape/molestation victims in this country already don't tell anyone about what happened to them let alone press charges. With the type of mentality many people have of looking the other way to what this man did just because he's gotten away with it for so long, it's easy to see why many don't bother.
I also wish people would stop comparing this man to Michael Jackson and claiming that what MJ did was worse. MJ went through a trial and was found not guilty. Not only that but after his death one of the "victims" admitted that he lied and his father put him up to it. The prosecution didn't offer a shred of evidence of molestation on Jackson's part. As far as I'm concerned (and this includes myself at the time) more people were focused on "Wacko Jacko" than whether he was actually innocent or not.”
