Colorado Civil Rights Panel: Baker Must Make Cakes For Gay Weddings

“its not about being liked. its against his religion. its against all religions. every religion on earth speaks out against homosexuality. if this guy was muslim...nobody would say a dam thing.”

timbohp on Jun 1, 2014 at 23:43:24

“LOL. Not every religion, or every version of a religion is against "the gay"! And we don't live in a theocracy (yet) so state and federal laws trump anyone's choice of religion. Mostly because a religion is a choice, being gay is not.

And please, stop playing the "faux victim christian". If a muslim did the same thing as this "christian" we should all be up in arms as discrimination is discrimination no matter who is doing the discrimination.

If his chosen religion will not allow him to follow state/federal law, then he needs to find a job where he can abide by his religions laws too.”

“Im sure the constant devaluation of our currency which is why everything we purchase is more and more money has something to do with it. The dollar today is worth 4 cents vs the year the Federal Reserve came into existence. Printing money out of thin air is working wonders I see.”

“My ideas on freedom are allowing states to make their own laws, families to make their own choices, and business being able to makes its own choice. Government OUT.”

“"My ideas on freedom are allowing states to make their own laws"

So since this is Colorado's anti discrimination law you must support it.”

“Its a private business. Period. Government doesn't need to tell you how to operate it. If the gay couple wanted a cake...they could have asked HUNDREDS of others....instead of making someone they knew had an issue with it do it against his wishes. Its a mockery of everything decent.”

timbohp on Jun 1, 2014 at 23:46:41

“"Its a mockery of everything decent"

Actually your ignorance of the law and your faux victim christian attitude is what is a mockery of everything decent, not excluding the words of Jesus Christ!”

timbohp on Jun 1, 2014 at 20:04:31

“LOL!!!! No Jason, its not. But your hyperbole is hilarious especially because its so incorrect.

All business is governed by state and/or federal law.

If we were to allow this so called "christian" to freely discriminate, than lets say you go to board an airplane and the Flight Attendant doesn't like you so she tells you your can't fly on the plane. You OK with that? (of course you'll say 'yes" here but we all know the truth.)”

Samuel Walter on May 31, 2014 at 22:32:04

“It's not a private business. It's an establishment of public accommodation, and when he obtained his state sales tax license and operating permits, he agreed to abide by all state and local laws, including the state's anti-discrimination laws. When he acknowledged that the reason he wouldn't make the cake was the sexual orientation of the customers, he broke the law. Case closed.”

joemondo on May 31, 2014 at 14:36:01

“It wasn't just a way of life - it was the law. As was women not voting. Are those your ideas of freedom?”

“And they should be able to do that. Its that states rights to vote on how they want to live. The feds should keep out. If you actually read your constitution the government has very few powers given to it. People keep feeding the monster and then wonder why it turns on them.”

EmmaDarian on May 31, 2014 at 13:13:07

Shameful that you aren't upset by facts....and instead just keep your head in the sand and accuse those who ARE paying attention as paranoid.”

timbohp on May 31, 2014 at 13:03:51

“Sorry Jason. When you run a PUBLIC business, which his is, its open to the PUBLIC those horrible laws that regulate businesses for safety, no discrimination etc., abide to everyone who has a business that is open to the public. And no, we aren't going to allow businesses whom are open to the public begin to pick and choose who they want to serve. You serve everyone or no one, that is the choice of a business owner who is open to the public.”

Your government can kill you by drones...and they have already killed four americans that way...without due process. Thanks to the NDAA bill. They can also detain you forever...without due process. Sounds free!”

“Country is becoming less and less free every week. When the state dictates to a private business HOW it should operate...its time to close up shop and find another state. This is NOT how our framers envisioned this country. We as a people ,and the private businesses are being hogtied by regulations and laws that are ridiculous.”

juliet marilynne on May 31, 2014 at 13:18:55

“it's NOT a 'private business' if it is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. the second it is, all state and federal accommodation laws apply.

want to get around it? EVERY transaction is to be done by contract only. THEN you can pick and choose your clientele.”

joemondo on May 31, 2014 at 11:56:29

No, they envisioned black people as slaves and women prohibited from voting.

And you think we're becoming less free NOW?”

“2ND ATTEMPT to get my point in on this topic. Moderators are all over this one. Gowdy has received dozens of death threats for his selection in this. The left (I hate dividing the country into left/right) is fuming that the right wants to know the truth. I don't trust anything this administration or for that matter...the last 3 have said. Whats the big deal? Why wouldn't any rational thinking American WANT this investigated? Americans were ALLOWED to die and we all know it could have been prevented. We have a rather large military presence in that part of the world. I want to know, the families of those involved want to know. You should want to know. This, IMO, isn't about politics but simply getting to the bottom of something that is very important.”
