Congresswoman Michele Bachmann initially called for this display of whatever it was. Perhaps some would like to express to her what they think.

Somebody finally put to music my feelings about the massive indifference of most of the airline industry to the travelling public, their customers, -- not that I'd ever thought of puting such to music and wouldn't have had the talent or ability to do so even if I had.

I hope it works for the musician and maybe, just maybe, puts a dent in the overall conduct of the industry.”

Creigh Deeds: Virginia's Democratic Candidate For Governor

Creigh Deeds: Virginia's Democratic Candidate For Governor

Commented Jun 10, 2009 at 03:11:28 in Politics

“I am somewhat heartbroken. Brian and Karyn Moran are two of the best people I’ve ever known: compassionate, fighters, hard workers, good parents, lovely people and a couple who would’ve made a great First Couple of Virginia.

As for Mr. McAuliffe – in ’00, I was for Bill Bradley; he was for Gore – in ’04, I was for Governor Dean; he was for anything but – in ’08, I was for our President; he was for Senator Clinton. I am not inclined to think highly of him. There was a night, however, during the week that he left office as chairman of the DNC. I happened to walk into a restaurant he was eating in with a lot of his staffers – anybody who inspires that loyalty can’t be too bad a guy.

Senator Deeds: incredibly smart, caring, funny. A man who will be a great Governor for Virginia and who has much to offer to all of us.”

jmby replied on Jun 10, 2009 at 17:08:07

“Brian Moran ran a nasty, misleading and frankly, embarassing and ineffective campaign. Quoting a Daily Show episode in an attempt to get the "black vote" was pretty low. I'm glad he lost the primary - I've had enough of that type of politics.”

Decipherer replied on Jun 10, 2009 at 06:08:12

“I agree with your post -- any one of the three would have made a fine governor, and frankly I wish Virginia didn't limit a governor to one four-year term of office. I was far less inclined to vote for McAuliffe who thought he could waltz into the state and pick up a win. He needed to earn his stripes at the grassroots level before making that move.

As for the GOP candidate that Deeds will face, again any one of the three Democratic candidates would be head and shoulders better than he would be as governor.”

ChiEg replied on Jun 10, 2009 at 05:02:49

“Bless his heart, Michael Steele caps a string of inane statements and cartoonish behavior with a fundraising appeal featuring a reprise of Jeanne Kirkpatrick's speech to a Republican National convention in the 1980's and so ill-timed as to mimic unintentionally the comic genius of Charlie Chaplin.

Mr. Steel might want to check with the Captain of the Alabama and the four pirates/armed thugs (oh, maybe just the sole surviving armed thug) as to their opinions regarding our President's assignment of blame where blame is due.”

“". . . will undoubtedly spur additional speculation that Romney is gearing up for another run at the Oval Office in 2012."

Will spur additional speculation?

Please, Willard and his magic underpants have been running for President in 2012 from the day he withdrew from the '08 race at that year's annual reunion of the Jabba the Hut scene from one of those Star Wars movies (also known as the C-PAC convention).

It's somewhat tragic with a streak of dark comedy that Willard's father was a really principled and able individual, a moderate Republican in a time before such species became virtually extinct, agreed with labor on some issues and management on others but never really villified either group, marched with Martin Luther King, opposed the Vietnam War though later than some earlier than most in his party, and apparently decided he would rather live with his convictions than sacrifice them to be president.

The apple sure fell far from that tree.”

Victoria Jackson On Fox News: Obama Is A Communist, Rush Limbaugh Should Run The Country (VIDEO)

“Goodness, it appears that Mr. Limbaugh has a serious challenge to his position as de facto leader of the Republican Party and "he who must be obeyed" (h/t to Governor Kaine) by all Republican elected officials. Ms. Jackson's commentary, in both delivery and substance, demonstrated a deft political skill for appealing to that faction which controls the machinery of today's GOP.

Her use of actual words, her waving the Bible, and her luxuriously thick hair position her as a natural heir to President George W. Bush.

Indeed, one is compelled to speculate how different history might have been had Jackson began receiving air time at this date last year. Certainly, her seemingly innate ability to appeal to the rightwing "base" would not have escaped the notice of that self-appointed group whose self-defined task was to foist an ideologically appealing and exciting Vice Presidential nominee upon the hapless John McCain. She might even have brought her own clothes.”

Producers Plan To File For Arbitration Against Tearful Jeremy Piven

Commented Feb 27, 2009 at 19:49:36 in Entertainment

“I don't really have a horse in this race but do know that it gave rise to one of the best lines I've heard in a long, long time.

When the story was breaking, one of the producers noted: "I understand Mr. Piven is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer."

Gives me a chuckle every time I think about it.”

jakk replied on Feb 28, 2009 at 05:51:48

“The sad part about this is that if it is true -- if he is genuinely ill -- the jokes made at his expense tend to diminish the seriousness for those really suffering in this way. I had a family member who was literally debilitated by chronic fatigue and other auto immune symptoms years ago, before anyone was willing to take him seriously. He was vindicated in recent years, having been properly diagnosed with a thyroid disorder and autoimmune problem. But in the interim, for years, he got derisive comments like the one issued by the producers -- because his fatigue and other symptoms were misunderstood and ridiculed. Whatever the outcome here, I wish humans had the wherewithal to at least refrain from belittling that which may, in fact, be real. If it's not honest, then it's obviously on Piven and his integrity. But I say give anyone who claims to be ill, the benefit of the doubt.”
