“The DEMS have caved on all the issues they wanted addressed in the "new" health care bill. The new bill will be a trillion dollar piece of NOTHING. The snarky Repubithugs have gotten their way all through the process. The DEMS should be ASHAMED of themselves. We're in the MAJORITY: both houses and the Presidency. What has that got us? Just a bunch of scared Dems without the balls to do what Obama promised and most of the country voted for and now wants. SHAMEFUL.”

“You all miss the point. This is NOT about math. This is about lying. If you're simply dividing the stimulus by the amount of jobs AND DON'T INCLUDE all the lumber (cement, asphalt, steel etc.) that the stimulus money ALSO pays for along with that job, you're not doing MATH incorrectly, you're just trying to deceive.”

“Republicans have not provided a rational explanation, they are just creating animosity...let me try to give you a rational point of view from a Conservative Perspective -- I would appreciate a rational response if you would like to debate it (show respect please).

There are several ways to spend the stimulus: 1) Use it to cover Fixed Expenses (buildings, telescopes, cement, etc), 2) Use it to cover Variable Expenses (labor) or 3) a Mix of Variable and Fixed. They are trying to do #3, but the majority of spending is on the Fixed side instead of the Variable -- this is the problem I have. If we just focused on Education alone by providing loans to all parties (whites, blacks, browns, pinks, blues...) or tutoring/after-school programs or vocational training, we could have increased the number of teachers at all levels of learning while investing in Variable Expenses -- the trickle down economics from here is quite simple, more people working means more consumption (ie houses/buildings being built, books/computers being manufactured, etc). Plus we get the benefits from a more educated work-force. Instead Congress approved multi-million dollar spending on "bobbles" (ie telescopes, jungle gyms, statues, bridges to no-where literally vacant islands, etc).

This is my point of view - I don't think it's biased against the current administration; it's just pragmatic.”

“So what if he got speaking fees during his career BEFORE joining the Obama administration. He won't be getting any while he's working on the problem this year or for any years he's in the administration. You really think Summers thinks that he owes Goldman Sachs 10 BILLION because they hired him as an expert in the field last year to speak to them? Are you kidding? You really think he OK'ed 25 BILLION in TARP money to J. P. Morgan because they gave him speaking fees? Get real. Should Obama have limited his appointments to those who NEVER were asked to speak as an expert? Should he have hired NON-experts?? What's the matter with you folks? “My parents were non-religious Jews. I grew up as a non-religious Jew. My parents taught me a good sense of right and wrong. A good sense of ethics. As I grew up (I'm 62), I never needed "religion" to inform me of the right thing to do, feel or think. To the religious, a sense of ethics is the most important sense religion gives them (or SHOULD give them). I found that I didn't need the thought of damnation or punishment to MAKE me do the right thing. I do the right thing because that's the right thing to do! I do it for myself, for my own feelings of self worth.

Interestingly, most gentiles don't understand how I can feel really, really Jewish without a belief in a higher power. Throughout my life, I've had the most challenging and rewarding discussions with my gentile friends on this issue.

Thank you Cenk for brining our minority view to the fore. All folks should understand that treating people properly is a matter of how you feel about yourself, and doing so doesn't have to depend on a believe in a higher power who will punish you if you don't. Those folks who are in the 15% can be just as valuable, just as "good" ad the majority. We don't "lack" anything by dismissing religion as unneeded for ourselves. We just get to where they claim they do by a different route.”

“All these Republican tools! To say that if the administration says $800 billion and they say $400 billion, then partisanship is accepting their number. BS! McCain ought to remember that he LOST the election. The country voted for Obama and the Dems much because of the fiscal policies of McCain and Bush, including an unnecessary war which nearly tripled the national debt in 8 years. We, the people, shouted out for change in November. Bi-partisan doesn't mean splitting the difference, it means bringing in the other side for consultation, something the GOP scrupulously failed to do for 8 years. Obama has done this. That's all he owes to bi-partisanship. The GOP lost the election in a LANDSLIDE! Obama needs to do exactly what he wants... all the time, regardless of what the discredited, obstructive GOP wants.”

“I watch it every week because how the authorities figure out and catch and try the perp is interesting. I watch this show for the same reason millions have watched Law and Order for over a 18 years: it's INTERESTING to see how the police and legal professionals do their jobs. 48 Hrs is actually Law and Order FOR REAL. To say that it's always the wife or the husband is minimizing the PROCESS. With both L&O and 48hrs, It's not about WHO did it, it's about HOW the authorities figure this our and put the perp in jail. And yes, you can tell which one did it from the framing of the interviews. But the same can be said of L&O in their casting,, where the perp can usually be identified by how "big" an actor is playing some (supposedly minor role) in the drama. And that's yet another similarity between L&O and 48 Hrs: you can usually tell who did it early, if you're inclined.

So it's not really surprising at all why millions of folks watch BOTH shows. Police and court procedurals have been a part of TV from the early days. One of the first (and very best) was The Defenders in the 60's which set the style for the future.

So don't knock the fact that it's always either the husband or the wife, and you usually can tell early on. That's totally missing the point (and appeal) of these shows.”
