“Wishful thinking by the segment of the population who among other things wants to take insurance from children and others with what the insurance industry calls pre-existing conditions like birth defects and cancer.
"Ain't gonna happen".”

“They drew the line at SS number, medications taken and health history. They only shared name and contact info, what is in a phone book. That's where the line was drawn.”

“A waste of time tonread this. The headline and teaser so inflammatory. Nothing was shared beyond what's in a phone book or simple Internet search. I can find out how much my neighbors paid for their homes if I wanted, in a minute.”

“No it isn't. It is law if and until it is changed. If you don't want it, then don't use it and pay the penalties.”

“Lawsuits that would reverse ACA, will take health insurance from children who had exceeded their limit on their old insurance? Cancel the new policies of people with pre-existing conditions who couldn't find insurance before?
I know quite a few people who would counter sue these suits that some so sadistically pray for to happen.
This isn't something you should want to fail. Your own insurance will go up even more without ACA.
But self righteousness trumps watching sick people fade in the streets.”

“Obama set out to remake the health-care system in the country, a sixth of the national economy, on a razor-thin majority with no support whatsoever from the opposition party, completely misunderstanding the nature of democratic politics.
Then he stands before the microphones and declares the law to be whatever he says it is, since he hasn't read it anyways.
Imperial presidency, king nothing.”

“I would just like to pick up on that second clause "a sixth of the national economy." The US has a ridiculous approach to health care, paying much more than the OECD average, less than 10% of GDP, and far more than some of the top performers (Finland, 10%, Singapore, 4%). Something has to be done to reduce costs: An American will spend twice what citizens of other countries spend in their lifetime. Where does all the money that Americans spend end up. About $1.2 trillion a year ends up in the pockets of various free-riders including insurers, hospitals and support services like ambulances. The whole idea of the ACA was to bring the insurers along, and let them keep about 20% of the money. Unfortunately, some insurers have been frozen out. In the long run, the best discipline the government could bring to the market is increase public insurance such as Medicare.”

The opposition party initially supported the effort.”
