Some franchise titles have already sparked a price war, so will your $2.49 game get noticed and purchased over a known brand selling for $0.99? The chances are slim, even with a decent marketing budget behind it.

I think what Jessica is getting at is that it's a very volatile business to be in. Stories of profitability are rare, except for the occasional blockbuster created by an indie developer (who I completely support!). Not that the iPhone/iPod Touch doesn't have potential in the future as the install base expands, just not quite yet...”
