“Is Megyn Kelly's Style Evolution relevant? I'm not mad that she erupted at him, just that she only does it to liberals.
Kelly needs to act like a journalist -- but when HP has a slide show of her style at the bottom of every article discussing her it undercuts HP's journalistic credentials as well.”

“You don't watch.. she does it to anyone trying to filibuster. look for clips on Youtube with MK and any news-making republican, you will see.. she is smart and tough and knows how to interview rather than being a facilitator for a mediated press conference as many in the media do.”

“She only does it to liberals because they have problems admitting that they are wrong, even though it is so very obvious to everyone else that they are,”

“Yeah HP's journalistic credentials are going to someplace that rhymes with well.”
“BAD BAD Commercial. Will not get the intended response!! A crying kid stimulates a sympathetic response in people - particularly when they show the kid for 10 sec before we know what its about. Will only work if the people already dislike Boehner.
It would be better to show a kid hiding his mom's purse behind his back with a smirk on his face.”

“Ever been in a store an seen and heard someone's spoiled brat throwing a tantrum? Did you feel sympathetic towards the "crying kid"? Has Boehner ever gotten any sympathy from the non Tea Party American Public, what he's gotten from his previous crying jags and tantrums is ridicule, that's what he'll get again, along with a lot of anger, especially if following ads show all the videos of him and his Tea Party puppet masters shouting "NO COMPROMISE, NO COMPROMISE" ever since the 2010 election. Some may feel sorry for a crying child, but most people of voting age are disgusted when an adult male does it so often in public. Sympathy only if you consider Boehner and his Tea Party fools to be children.”

“Crying kids don't stimulate sympathy, they stimulate a desire to shut them up. An annoying sound is nature's way of getting attention, but only to end the crying.”
“Unlike most Protestant faiths, the Catholic Church is not based on the Bible -- but is informed by the Bible. Catholics believe Jesus started the Church and that it has a living Gospel separate from the Bible - directed by the Church and the Pope. The Bible is holy but is not taken literally like in other christian religions.
(I was raised catholic but am an agnostic now - have had many of these discussions with other former catholics)”

“It's a convenient view. Use it when it suits. Make up whatever you want when you prefer.”
“Your comparison makes no sense - and you are blowing this way out of proportion. I believe it is you who is not giving this kid credit for understanding his circumstances. So what if he wanted to see what it was like to be out on the mat with his friends - its called playing -- being a kid -- having fun.”
ephisus on Dec 6, 2012 at 10:53:26
“In what way does it not make sense? You're advocated that, on the basis on the emotional state of the child, that it's worthwhile. I want the kid to find meaning in his life in spite of his disability.”
“I don't get your need to point that out?? Are you afraid someone may feel good unnecessarily?”
ephisus on Dec 6, 2012 at 10:04:46
“If the point is for him to feel good, then you can just put him on recreational drugs. But, obviously, that would create an existence devoid of purpose and meaning that we would both agree would be unhealthy and ultimately bad for him. This isn't any different, principally.”
“Not everything has to be a life lesson - some things are just experiences.
The article said the boy went to wrestling practices and asked to be in a match. If everyone participating was fine with it it doesn't have to be any big message to anyone -- its just a community of nice people letting a kid have a good day.
So what if it was pretend. Lots of adult pretend to be rock stars on karaoke night. People need to lighten up and not worry so much about what the big life lesson is for the audience -- not everything fits into a neat little explanation.”
ephisus on Dec 6, 2012 at 08:33:58
“There was no match.”

“Well said. It was a decision by two coaches, a crowd of spectators, two teams and one very kind young man to let a kid who probably hasn't experienced it much know what "victory" feels like. Probably cost nothing in terms of match points,”
“I'm a Pro-choice agnostic -- and am a little surprised by my reaction -- but I am not as offended or horrified by this newest guys remarks as I am by the other two.
Call it weird -- I totally disagree with him -- but I don't think he is evil. He strikes me as a good man who really really believes that God plans everything (I don't believe that ) but in some weird way I get him more then I get the other guys. Strange.”
