My problem with her is NOT that she said what she said. My beef is that she's acting all surprised that what she did was controversial and she's crying behind Freedom of Speech. She doesn't realize that Freedom of Speech is a right of all people (unlike marriage).
She also lied about there being only one picture.

IMO she should have rightfully defended her answer but then been prepared to discuss it with something more valid than the bumper sticker response of "Marriage is between a man and a woman."
She should also have answered the next day questions about her boob job.
She should have gone to the pageant officials when her image, at the time being property of the pageant, was being used by the NOM to fuel their own agenda.

I don't think this woman should be ruined, but like Mr Trump said, "We're in the 21st century." Maybe Miss California should leave the dark ages behind and get with the times.

“First: Who are these 'Gay Leaders'? The Washington Blade?? That's the only gay 'group' mentioned in this article. They are not gay leaders. I have no idea who our Gay Leaders are. Rosie and Ellen? I was never invited to vote for a leader.

Second: Just like the role of Peter Pan is traditionally played by a woman, the role of Edna Turnblad will be traditionally played by a man. Not all the men who have played the part have been gay. Michael McKean and John Pinnett are not gay (tho, I alway thought Pinnett was... he's just so freakin' adorable!).

Also: I have yet to read anything about Travolta getting this role by demand. He auditioned. He got cast. Get over it. I really don't think Scientology had anything to do with it. Nor should it. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to pull it off, based on that first photo they released months ago. I though he looked too cute. More like Tracy's big sister. The trailers have proved that wrong.

I'm not a big fan of boycotts. IF Travolta had ever gone on record condeming gays or drag queens and then had been cast? that would be one thing.
He never has.

Some gay people wanted to boycott 'Dreamgirls' because Eddie Murphy had said some stupid things TWENTY YEARS AGO, when he was young and stupid and has since (ten years ago? longer? who knows) apologized. Admitting what he said was hurtful and wrong.
